Awesome British Actor - I'm a massive Blakes 7 fan. I've seen many of his UA-cam interviews about the show and other things. Very down to earth. I had never heard of Star Maidens until seeing this YT Video. Crazy! I will search it out. Thank You. Bless Him RIP Gareth Thomas. I should add that I heard that Jackie Pearce had passed away but I had no idea that it was back in 2016. I've only recently revisited Blakes 7 on UA-cam. Thanks for posting the video
i like you had never heard of star maidens till about 6 months ago. (june 2021) and as i was around when the original airing was, and sci fi is my favourite genre its rather perplexing as to why i never heard of the show and it was just by pure chance i discovered it.
Gareth Thomas did such a great job on "Star Maidens", it wouldn't have been the same without him! A true artist, a great series. So interesting to learn about this part of acting history! Thank you for sharing!
Christain Quadflieg who played Rudi Schmidt in Star Maidens, did not have any scenes with Gareth Thomas Shem and Pierre Brice Adam who was French and Christain Quadfleig was German in origin and he sadly was never in a scene with Gareth Thomas and or Adam Brice .
+Daniel Williamson I agree Daniel Gareth Thomas is Roj Blake and also Jacqueline Pearce Servalan Blake's arch-enemy will always be Servalan as Gareth Thomas will always be Roj Blake
+Gareth Davies Gareth Thomas was one actor I met seven times in my life Blake's arch-enemy Servalan in Blake's Seven has outlived Blake in fiction and real life
Great show .BLAKEs 7 Massive fan I feel they should bring it back new actors with upto date special effects Hollywood style production but keep it ENGLISH Blake could be played buy current leading actor who’s english
Dunno why Thomas left Blakes Seven, but luckily the producers found a great replacement in Del Tarrant (Steven Pacey) and the show rolled on regularly drawing viewing figures in the millions without a hiccup..:)
If I recall correctly Gareth was offered an opportunity to join the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and it's one of those things that any decent actor would never pass up. You're right about Steven Pacey as a good counterpart to Paul Darrow's increasingly paranoid Avon.
If I recall I believe that Gareth was offered a place at the Royal Shakespeare Company which was too good to pass up. You're right about Steven Pacey making a great counterpart for Paul Darrow's increasingly paranoid Avon.
What, you think Avon was becoming "inceasingly paranoid"?.....I always thought Blake was the one who was showing symptoms of that with his obsession of getting at the Federation....My reading of Avon is that he had a mind like a computer, cool, calm, logical, and I could never figure out why he didn't say to Blake "Put me down on a peaceful planet somewhere to live out the rest of my life in peace because I've had enough of this gallivanting around the galaxy like Flash Gordon"..:)
@@Esico6 Thanks, Thomas was growing tubbier by the day, so no wonder "slim hero" roles dried up after he abandoned B7..:) PS- another bloke who wanted more lolly springs to mind, namely Barry Morse in 'Space 1999' who walked out after series 1, but Series 2 carried on without him just fine..:)
I just binge watched the series. I couldn't stop watching! The last few episodes were actually serious episodes and very very good.
I wish Star Maidens had gone on for a second series, it had more than enough potential to continue for at least one more series.
A fabulous actor and a great man. Loved his characters Rog Blake & Shem & the children of the stones

Money. He wanted more money then the producers budget.

8:42 LOL
He should have better take care of his body.
It looks like a _terrible_ series. I think I want to see it.
dont bother ...its crap ....even Gareth so much admitted it . . . .- after a pint or two . . . 😆😁
That's what I thought, but I watched it and was totally engrossed. Sure, it was T and A and beefcake in space, but it was very compelling.
