Got a dvd of the whole series after seeing this. and it's very seventies [great!] and quite funny [unintentionally?] and generally cheaply made. The ladies are [generally] lovely, Judy having been a 'hottie' back then.... I had no idea 'Blake' made a staring appearance! He kept this fairly low profile! And no wonder!!!!!! Thx for uploading! And for others, seek out the series - it's entertaining!
Actually Sylvia Anderson stole the idea from twin earth comic books that came out back in the 50s a lot of parallel Earth that's populated with women what are men of subjective Relentless sex every night is barbaric I tell you 3 subject to servicing their needs sounds like a place I want to go to damn where a man is out number 21 oh what a dreary life I must live as a sex slave to women where my feet is required impregnate 20 women the sun bear War to you I can't go home little life like this I won't survive servicing the needs of women. Here you go my friend this is what Sylvia Anderson got the idea from she probably couldn't obtain the copyright LOL images.app.goo.gl/FnSqURAV6q1sS2VL6
13:08 : Uh oh, they made contact and it’s “moving towards Uranus.” That doesn’t sound good! Thanks for uploading this deliriously silly but entertaining series.
This uses sound effects from Space 1999. The 2 Ronnies serial The Worm That turned was based on this. I have a novel and the series on DVD. The Star Trek TNG Episode Angel One also has elements of this.
I remember this very vaguely being on TV when I was 3-4 years old. Some of those sound effects seem to have been reused by Ridley Scott in both Blade Runner and Alien.
There's lot of science fiction series, and shorts made in the 70's, and 80's like this. Most only lasted a season. Some only a few episodes. Mainly because studios would run them out of order of the storyline, and didn't get good ratings. Others because they were put on during the same time as the most popular TV shows on back then . And if others were put in the time slot where TV series went to die.
Adorable. The idea of people living underground on a rouge planet is a cool concept. Theoretically possible even. But a comet ejecting a planet from it's solar system? The entire universe would be a giant cosmic pinball machine.
It's just like nuclear explosions blastEd our Moon out of Earth's orbit. Only scientists say if blast happens on dark side, then Moon possibly would crashed into Earth.😮😅
Can deffo tell this is Space 1999 inspired.Sound effects and the Eagle engine noises I know it all. Watched one back in the 70's when I was little, freaked us out a bit but not now. Curious is more like it.
Roddenberry tried hard to start series or movies based on the premise women are ruling and positive masculinity saved the day. In their time, no one was offended much and they were lowbrow comedic and fun
"They must have women on earth!" "But they're submissive women, they take orders from men." Oh my, they're in for a massive disappointment. I very vaguely recall that an episode of Space: 1999 played this angle with alien Amazons, too.
That was "Devil's Planet," a second season episode. Since Koenig was taken to a prison planet, the title was an obvious play on Devil's Island, and yes, the women were in charge.
The acting was quite good in my opinion. They should have continued this series with a reboot. The final episode leaves the viewers hanging. This enemy made a great twist for the reboot.
@@msrthaboltares9165 I'm with you. The acting consistently falls between sufficient and pretty damned good. It certainly is more relatable than the acting in Space 1999, where it is very difficult to form any sort of attachment to any of the characters..
What kills me how Female leader can control the men just by telling them what to do; they're precondition to respond to her Commands (The Great Galatic Mother figure)🙂😅🤣
@@chonqmonkYet. Space:1999 these were Scientists, Engineers and highly trained people that were conditions not being too emotional. Where Star Maidens were hair dressers in Outer Space.
Looks similar because Space 1999's designer Keith Wilson also designed the sets for this series inbetween the two seasons of Space 1999. It was also filmed at Bray Studios where all the Space 1999 model work was done. Keith Wilson reused several props and dressings from the first series of Space 1999 (particularly the artefacts inside the Gwent spaceship from "The Infernal Machine"), and in the first episode when you see Shem, some of the flashing consoles in the background were originally built for the SHADO Moonbase in Gerry Anderson's UFO.
How do all the Aliens know that this planet is called 'Earth'? And how is it, that in future advanced civilizations, the women are still so poor that they run around half naked. You'd think someone would developed a pill to deal with the hot flashes.
This was mostly the first episode, but it has been butchered a bit, and the beginning credits have been crudely re-edited; the ending has also had some snippets from the 2nd episode mysteriously spliced into it. In answer to your second question, no - the rest of the series is not available on UA-cam most probably because it is copyrighted material and is commercially available on DVD. You can buy it on Amazon. www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Maidens-Complete-Dawn-Addams/dp/B01NCZJBVX/ref=sr_1_1?crid=16JYBL8TJ2JQR&keywords=star+maidens+dvd&qid=1566864125&s=gateway&sprefix=star+maidens%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-1

I've never seen his before. Its like some weird hybrid of Blake's 7 and Space 1999
Given that it's got Gareth Thomas and Judy Geeson in it....and every other sound effect is from Space 1999....
using the scenery and sound F X from that show during the first and second seasons (1975-7)
@@coltaylordyath5180 Judy also starred in the first season episode Another time another place

I got it too !!! Hah
Some sounds from Space 1999 are heard in this episode. I have this on DVD and a novel. Some panels from UFO are seen as well.

A brilliantly prophetic show predicting Earth in 2020 perfectly.
You're right now men have become subservient to women or either want become women(Trans gender)

Roj Blake detected... Federation forces alerted!
It is a shame in zillions of ways Star Maidens was never continued after series 1
I am glad this series was available since remastered Space:1999 was able use some of cityscapes and other materials for re-edited episodes.
Ahh, love those 70s sci-fi and music.
Title sequence editor: "And what we need to really make this work is a montage of everyone doing a really smug grin".
I'm an American and I like this series
There is a Canadian author publishing books with similiar theme. I expect them to be movies someday. Heard it here first.
Across The Wire.
This was the predecessor to Space 1999 -- and you can see many of the same effects and actors there.

Yes, a matriarchal society would have its law enforcement in hot pants and crop tops.
That makes sense.
Ya gotta love the '70s.
Laceykat66 BUT they weren't "sexist" about it eh 😌😎😎👾
@Laceykat66:
It makes perfect sense! They wanted the guys in a permanent state of Sexual Frustration! *_:D_*

Oui je me souviens de cette série mais j'en avais oublié le titre .
The kiss between Pierre Brice and Judy Geeson is so very intense, just why did he want to leave? 😍😍😍😍

This show would been great advance for womens liberation, If scripts were believable. And women not so Butch..
This wasn't a bad Series. Too bad It never caught on. The Production Design and Special Effects look Straight Out of Space-1999.
