Great seeing those two former Southern B23-7’s in service. I remember seeing them and the U23B’s in regular service in the 80’s and 90’s. Fantastic video here. I miss the sounds of those older GE units. Nice to hear them again.
This video is absolutely brilliant, I think it is a really cool thing for the company to do for it's employees being able to admire wonderful scenery plus the hellfire motive power of course, thanks for sharing Drayton 🙏
I was lucky enough to make the trip from Crossville to Chattanooga twice back in the early 80’s. Travelled down, stayed the night at the Choo Choo Hotel, then returned to Crossville the next morning.
Drayton i think this has really made the folks at SARM feel like they have a future and purpose its amazing what God blesses us with is much of the unexpected. Mybe theyll get to run their engines too mybe on lhoists tracks
The Fort Ogelthorpe, Budd built, was originally part of the Central of Georgia "Man 'O War" passenger train that ran between Atlanta and Columbus, GA. All cars of the consist named for US Military forts in GA and of course the train name was influenced by the fact that a lot of the passengers would be military traffic to the huge Fort Benning complex outside Columbus.
So scenic. Lhoist North America is so scenic. They allow excursions from SARM. Employee appreciation for Lhoist and SARM. Wow. Classic High Hood GE B23-7s
Man, there is something beautiful about Appalachian Coal Country that is picture perfect for Railroading

There is a Lhoist plant in Henderson NV, served by a UP industrial spur. I enjoyed this video too because I lived in Oak Ridge for 22 years.
That’s really cool!

Rowan, that was one damn fine video! That is God's country! So, do mine trains still run these tracks? Thanks for sharing, and God bless!
It’s Drayton and yes, they do.
Cool
I’d love to see some of the high hood B23-7s restored to Southern Railway colors and in a museum or tourist line.
Who knows? Maybe Lhoist will donate a high hood B23-7 to SARM. We'll just have to wait and see.
awesome video drayton, btw did you ever get to give that painting to Lhoist employee you were gonna give it to?
Only three engines for four cars? A bit stingy on the power.
🤭
Great video. What horn is that?
It’s a semi truck horn.

Nice Video!
Sorry Drayton. Thanks for the answer!
No worries!
Another scenic foamer here. Someone should loan these guys a restored steam engine for the beauty shots and tourist trade!
What happened to your video on BNSF Mazon and the searchlight signals?
Curious about the hi rail truck following the train. Allowed in same block as the train and what was it's purpose?
Lhoist follows the train in a truck to make sure there are no issues with the track for safety on the return trip.
Nice video! How is HEP being provided to the passenger cars?
From the boxcar
@@Memphisdoug thanks! 👍
They rebuilt a boxcar with a HEP generator for power supply.
At the interchange point, why did they go from one track just to move back to the other?
Do they do regular train rides? Or was that a one time thing for the workers?
They do train rides on the Lhoist North America railroad. It's not really that often.
