    Those sikorae eggs are infertile, they don't glue eggs. I breed them myself. Fertile eggs from this species will be rolled into little balls and hidden under leaves in the substrate on a rotation of every 30-ish days (mine lay like clockwork). You should consider giving them more vertical spaces to sleep, this species loves to sleep snoot down on branches. Incubation period is between 90-160 days. Mine average 130 at room temp. But yeah, that sikorae egg is 100% infertile.

    I have a suggestion. For your snakes you should get one of those pantone color charts with all the different colors. Compare it to the snakes so we know what their true color is (because sometimes it doesn't show up properly on camera like lavender hognoses). It would also help you if you wanted to make decorations for their habitat like signs with their exact colors

      Pantone makes a "Munsell Rock Color Chart" that includes a lot of colors found in nature and is super useful for geoscientists! The book has holes in it for perfect color matching and then they could share the color code with us so we could all google it :)

    I have only bred geckos once, but I think it is better to just let them hatch on their own because the two eggs seem to develop at slightly different times. I cut a leopard gecko egg two days after it's clutch mate had hatched and she still had her yolk sac attached and so wasn't able to absorb as much as she otherwise would have. She ended up doing fine but yeah, gecko clutches aren't like snake clutches the babies will hatch hours if not days apart so just don't cut their eggs, it seems to create more risk than it prevents.

      Agreed, I had a similar situation with leopard gecko eggs and the one I cut didn't survive. I've had leo eggs hatch days apart with no issues on their own.

      @@sdaggan2112 I am so sorry that happened to you. I wish this information was more widespread because at the time I didn't think what I was doing was in anyway risking the baby. When I had bred my geckos I thought I was prepared, but it was terrifying opening the egg and seeing the baby come out with a pink glob attached to its belly. It seems like geckos won't sit in their eggs and absorb the yolk once the shell is opened, they just want to squirm out and use all that energy even when their little bodies might not be ready for it.

    Day gecko eggs hatch at different rates, not always at the same time, I've had one hatch and then the other a few weeks later. Also the day gecko regrowing tails do go green but a different shade of green, I bought my first day gecko that dropped her tail a few days before I bought her and she grew it back and it turned a lighter shade of green but still blended in, but you can still see where the new tail grew from. Great video. ❤️

    @W01f. Рік тому +130

    I think the reason the little baby died is because you opened the egg while it was still in development, causing some issues. Even if they’re laid on the same day, development speed is different. And there is always the chance that baby was indeed laid after the first one. I say, wait more days then you do with your snakes. If they still arnt hatching, you can open the egg.

    My grandma was stabbed by an assassin bug and got very sick, the area swelled, required antibiotics and lasted for almost 2 months. Living in CA, OR and WA the Assassin bugs we have here are quite harmful to humans if impaled. Sometimes requiring surgery to remove dead tissue and repair the area. Even the littlest, youngest a-bug should be avoided. You definitely do NOT want these in yiur house.
    Interesting knowledge nugget…..these bugs are referred to as the kissing bug (although the real kissing bug is smaller, but does similar damage), we here on the west coast, call the a-bug a kissing bug too. WHY? They like to stab and inject their venom/saliva on the face often near the mouth in sleeping humans. The damage and sickness they cause humans is up their with the brown recluse spider venom. Interesting but on my top 5 “stay away from at all costs, bugs, list.” Thank you Samar Fae Nadra for you help! Appreciated 🙂

    It’s cool to see you guys got another checkerboard tri-color! I was sad that the other one had passed away, it seemed like she would have been a really cool breeding opportunity to see if you could make a new morph with that checker pattern. You might be able to with this one, though!

      @@StonedtotheBones13 You know, I kind of made this comment in a rush (was kind of excited seeing this mutation), but after thinking about it, you have a good point. The original checker-baby was a runt that didn’t survive and if this one also has eating problems, it wouldn’t be good if that’s a problem that persists with that kind of morph.
      I think it’d be neat if Emily and Ed did a study on the baby and just document all its habits; if we happen to possibly get any more of these morphs from that specific pairing of tri-colors, then it’s be interesting to see if that’s a trend with that pattern before pursuing it as an official morph.
      But thank you for your comment, you helped me slow down to think about the ethics of it. I appreciate it!

      @@StonedtotheBones13 do you have any reason though? Sorry I know tone can’t carry over text but for me personally I feel like your statement is pure feelings and the more people who just go along with it will create a stigma or false info. If you don’t know why it’s caused like if it’s just high/low expression of X or it’s just a completely different makeup of what is normal is maybe why you could correlate that negative feeling because it might be caused or causes because it’s unstable makeup/it’s different and causes issues. Sorry again pigments, patterns, etc can be caused by a lot of different things and some things that look the same are not the same genetically. A good example is double Merle dogs, causes problems but Merle itself when it’s just one parent that is that isn’t harmful. Or another example of looking the same but isn’t is Dalmatians spots it’s not the same as ticking in breds like settlers. Personally I don’t think it even looks the same but the spots are literally caused by different things and dals are unique their genetic makeup for their spots is something they only have. Can’t think of a better way to get my point across and sorry I’m not trying to treat you any kind of way and sorry it’s very simplified but I hope it can help you look into the differences and why you feel a certain kind of way based on this antidotal evidence here this is simply just not a big enough sample size to draw any conclusions and I feel like you drew your conclusion only on this video without even knowing why they look they way they do and if there are any health concerns based on it actually being different than any of the other ones that look different. (Which back to the DM dogs sometimes your outside doesn’t express the inside and it accidentally happens because people don’t test what genes there dogs carry and can’t tell from the outside and then something bad happens because of their lack of diligence. Which is why I’m being so long winded because if there was a known reason behind it Emily and Ed are very ethical and would immediately stopped if they knew, I’m more than positive of that)

    • @StonedtotheBones13
      @StonedtotheBones13 Рік тому +1

      @@lucasgarcia8285 def need a bigger sample size to tell if correlation or causation, but my logic was v basically: when any kind of embryo develops, it's supposed to be both sides simultaneously. Not really sure why the head and ends would zip together nearly but not the middle, but based on the other one and that logic... Well we need a bigger sample size to see if my feeling is correct. It could also be smthn like spider pattern in balls, wherein it's not *always* going to cause neurological issues and snake 1 just got unlucky. But we do need more samples to see how that plays out. Speaking of samples, I am curious to see if this is smthn like a recessive trait, or well... There's not been a lot of babies with that pattern for a reason. Also you didn't bring it up, but an additional complication for 1 may have been being a runt. And imo (not experienced, not a keeper, just watched a lot of UA-cam), Emily and Ed care for their babies v well, so I'm not sure how significant of a factor that would be. Altho the odds seem more 50/50 on whether runts will survive anyway.

    I know you probably have so many eggs from various reptiles throughout the year that you can't do a full video on each one because a lot of them are lizard eggs and they only like clutches of two. So I would love to continue seeing videos like this of all the random eggs at the end of every year

    Our local reptile store have giant day geckos all over the place (they all escaped at some point) so now they eat the crickets that get out and the invasive house geckos that get in- and they breed a lot so they get a bunch of baby geckos to sell

    Reminded me of a pic I saw the other day where there were a bunch of Tokay geckos found behind a dresser or wardrobe or something. Just a bunch of eggs stuck to this pink wall and multiple geckos just hanging out including 2 large parents and several hatchlings! 😳🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I used to have a little lizard living in a bookshelf at my old place. After seeing that pic, I was extra glad it was just the one though!
