This is a scent my Dad wore when I was a kid. He passed away a few years ago and now I put it on when I want to connect with him. One of the best fragrances of all time. It holds up today and I absolutely love it.
Sorry to hear that Jeremy but that’s nice that you can reconnect with him in a bottle of Drakkar Noir.
I genuinely have the exact same story.. your dad must have been a great guy too
@@sadderbythecloud he sure was as was your dad I’ll bet
I have this exact same story, I came across this a couple of years ago after not seeing it for a few decades, my father passed away about 20 years ago and as soon as I smelt this memories of my father came back and I wear it too now
Fragrances are truly a way for us to connect with our loved ones and to welcome a part of their spirit into us IMO. When i cleaned out my grandfather's house i added 2 fragrances to my collection that remind me of the simple class and good taste that he embodied, Caesar's man for a casual/outdoorsy wear, and Pi by Givency as a formal scent. Wishing you the best Jeremy
It’s time to put Drakkar Noir in the Classic Fragrance Hall of Fame. I’ve worn it for years, and it still pulls compliments.
This was my high school fragrance in 1989. This worked so good that the cutest most popular girl in my school started talking to me and became a friend. She loved it. Amazing what smelling good can do. It became overwhelming popular that became like a creeper fragrance hence the Family Guy take. Give Savauge 2-3 years and it will go through the same cycle.
So just friends?
Drakkar Noir was my first formal/church fragrance as a teenager/younger adult. I haven’t owned a bottle in years- but I’ll NEVER forget how it smells.
I consider it timeless and it’s very wearable for anyone teenager and older. It worked on me haha.
Thanks brother- just decided to get a big 200ml bottle of it haha memories! 😊
The moment you get your nose on Drakkar noir again it’s gonna teleport you back to your teenage years!
This was most guys signature fragrance in the 80s including myself. I haven't worn it in years. It's a classic.
Me as well , for nostalgia I picked a bottle of this up along with Paco Rabanne Pour Homme 👍
@@Chernabog123 ahhh paco rabanne as well. Another classic of our youth along with Grey Flannel, Obsession,Cool Water and Fahrenheit. Brings back memories.
@@Paulguynj Geoffrey beene grey flannel is my favourite. 💕
One of the most unique colognes ever made 💯@@livealittle1100
There is no fragrance like DRAKKAR NOIR!!! THE BEST!!! 🔥
I never owned this until early 2022. But the first time I sprayed it, it took me back to the department store fragrance counters back in the early 90s when I was young. Totally love it. I hate that the fragrance snobs make it hard to find this and Grey Flannel. Two of my favorites.
I'm in my late 40yrs Drakkar noir was my first fragrance. It's a timeless KIng...way ahead of it's time that's why it doesn't feel dated. It's good all year round casual, dress up occasion...it just makes you feel confident. It's also my 17yr old sons favorite out of my 100 or so fragrances niche and designer. Till this day if gets me compliments
How long does it last after spraying it?
@@chadsworthgigafuck7076 I get at least 8rs out of it
The bottle may be "cheap" but it's ergonomical and the most practical for a fragrance. I've dropped navitus bottles and they've shattered. I guarantee if you drop a drakkar bottle it will not break.
Such a fantastic fragrance, I don't find it dated at all (I'm not really into old school scents), love this stuff, definitely timeless.
I don't understand about the box cover I do care about the smell wow this is a circus of the best perfume of the 80s and 90s and 2020 have you ever seen a geico comercial about the cave men it says a cave men can do it its so easy
This is a timeless classic.
I definitely agree hasn’t aged a bit still holds up now a days!
Love it. My signature scent in the late 80. I remember breaking one bottle in the batchroom of college dormitory. The whole bathroom and the corriderdor of the whole wing smells of Drakkar Noir.
I love this scent. I’m a violinist in my 20s and I wear it when I have to perform in concert black. I stole it from my dad and it doesn’t have an atomizer. So I just dab it around. It’s probably an older batch too
Drakkar and Brut were the top two fragrances to wear on a night out at the disco. All these years later, I still like it. Just bought a bottle of it last night, in fact.
I just bought this two days ago. I haven't used this fragrance since around 1994. Ahhhhhhh GOD, memories.................
I remember wearing this as a waiter in the late 80s and got a ton of compliments from girls and women alike... I still use it today and love it. Some say today's formula is different. It may be a little different but not enough to make a difference IMHO
Nice
That's why I bought it because of the anniversary that's why it's selling today
Drakkar Noir hits way above its weight class. I get more compliments from Drakkar Noir than some moderns like Versace Eros.
Drakkar had the coolest cologne commercial of the 80s hands down. Nice video just bought some.
I shake my head when I hear people talk trash on Drakkar. I think the most recent was Joe Rogan, who said something like "remember guys in clubs in the 80's wearing Drakkar, that stuff was so bad". Nonsense...it was the most popular fragrance of the 80's for a reason.
This is one of those colognes that smells wonderful if used sparingly and terrible when used heavily
Once we're getting to warm days i would appreciate your top choices for compliments/crowd pleasing fragrances for those days 👍
Will do brother!
I wore this back in 1985 ish. Awesome stuff, love it. The shiznit of the 80’s!
summer of 97... on my way to the boardwalk in the Caribbean and I put this on...my goodness what a night...I'll never forget it.
That’s awesome David thank you for sharing your memories with Drakkar Noir! That’s the beauty of fragrances they can be our own personal time machines!
What happened on that night...in the summer of 97?
@@adoboFosho Good times...Drakar and cool water the only two I had at that time.
Just bought for 24€ in italy, couple of hours i smelled some montale .. sorry but the price difference doesnt justify some montale prices
@@davids_d3246 montale starry Nights the only montale in my collection..smells so sophisticated.
My memory of this is from back in the 80s. My friend's boyfriend wore this. He had a black leather motorcycle jacket and long curly hair. He liked to party, smoke weed and go to concerts. I remember the patchouli note and I guess the wood/cedar note. Plus, it went very well with leather. Someone who was more clean-cut, conservative and went to college to study business would be the type to wear Grey Flannel back then, not Drakkar Noir.
I've grown to love Drakkar Noir. It's the absolute balls 💈🧼💪
I wore this in 1988 to 1990s... It was my signature with the ladies... Worked well!
I'm wearing this for the first time since 94.... I'm trying to like it
Just bought it a couple hours ago in the parfume store. Because, i asked the seller. I want to buy a signature good smell perfume. But which used by less people. I don't want to have the popular one.
So the man give me option for Ferrary, Dunhill London and this one.
As of my current mood and my zodiak is Taurus, i choose this Drakkar Noir.
Love it....
That’s awesome Alex you made a good choice I hope you enjoy it!
@@FragranceHunter well thank you. It was so underrated tho. Anyway... you did a good job for reviewing tbis product. Thanks
To me I get mostly cinnamon right off the rip. Smells like shaving cream covered in cinnamon. I'm actually very surprised no one else has talked about that. I've smelled it countless times, and I mostly get cinnamon.
Spot-on review! 80's kid (rather, 80's high-school teen) here!
This was an absolute killer, and probably led me (as a cologne fan) to lean towards citrus & zing forevermore. Am not into gourmands, unless we're talking cold, cold winter conditions, in which case I like hard-core leathers, e.g., Tuscan Leather by TF, or its clone, La Yuqawam. Pro tip: if this type of scent -- insane citrus/grapefruit zing -- is your thing, I'd strongly recommend Tygre by Bulgari (though, since it's insanely priced, I'd actually recommend its clone, Enter The Tiger, by Dua).
If you walked into any middle of the road or upscale department store in the late 80s and headed for the men's fragrance counters, you would smell it! The fragrance ladies were heavily prompting it and spraying it everywhere.
Another fabulous stream 👍👍Im glad you like it . I wore that yesterday to work and I couldn’t believe I got 2 compliments but hardly get compliments on my modern 200$ fragrances lol
Thank you Robert! I can definitely see it pulling many compliments!
Yes, the wonderful scent of Drakkar Noir, not dated at all, it is a timeless and unique scent compared to recent existing scents. Nice and honest review from you about this! Enjoyed it!
👋😀👍
Back in th 80s, as a teen, I couldn't afford Drakkar so what did I do? I got the bootleg:"DAKAR!" Hahaha!! I eventually got the real deal later. Drakkar Noir is a timeless fragrance.
I am really glad that new generations experience and appreciate such great fragrance. Way to go.
It's pronounced gee with a hard g it's French. I preferred the aftershave I got more compliments with the aftershave. You're right very versatile night, day, work, school all four seasons, it's too bad they discontinued the aftershave, but they came out with Drakkar intense an updated version.
Great unboxing/first impressions video and I enjoyed it and can you do a full review when you test it out and have a blessed day
Thanks as always Michael!
You welcome keep up the good work and thank you very much
Azzaro pour homme is absolutely fire 🔥 too! All the old school masculine fiugeres are making a comeback. the modern sweet stuff is gross and not manly. Let's smell like men again guys! Drakkar is phenomenal.
Drakkar doesnt smell anything like it used to. It was an insane beast, lasted days on clothes. Designer fragrances these days pale in comparison to lasting and projection power.. they put more money in the aesthetics of the bottle than they do the juice. Sad really that people care so much what the bottles look like. Elixir, however, does remind me of drakkar.
An old school classic this was my go-to cologne in the late 80s and early 80s I have to pick up a bottle for old school memories
Drakkar noire, from Drakka ar. It means dragon boat. I love this fragrance.
One funny think is that this is Drakes signature scent with Tuscan Leather. He has a literal tattoo of the bottle lmao also he follows Drakkar Noir fan pages on IG🤣
That was my scent in high school, a younger scent! Me and my yellow sweater!
Green polo was wafting through the air in Toronto, so I never bought a bottle!
You should also try vetivers like guerlain givenchy and carven.
Guerlain Vetiver is one of the best Vetivers money can buy! Givenchy and Carven are houses i need to dive into!
I was in high school in 1988/89, this stuff made me popular with the girls. I still wear it today because it best suits my style, extreme masculinity with that 80s boldness.
i used to have one back when i was a kid my dad gave it to me but i don't like the smell 🤣 it's just strong
The OG 80's batch had patchouli so it had a sweetness but the company thought it smelled too much like the 70's so they removed in 89. Classic Match by Belcam is pretty close to that. After that most of them have smelled similar which is clean, sharp and fresh which is why I love it. From the 90's to the early 2000's was pretty good performance wise and they called those bottles the Cosmair bottles. After that would be the current LLC bottles. They are watered down and thanks to IFRA they won't have the real Oakmoss in there anymore so they won't be as sharp but they are still pretty close to the Cosmairs. Still love this stuff and Im glad to have the vintage in my collection to smell it once in awhile. I usually just wear the current formulas with extra sprays 😁
i got a 2012 bottle, so not the cosmair bottle. With 14 sprays it lasts all day on my workshirt
@@MisterNumber6 I got a 2022 to try it out and its still decent. Recent stuff is still really good too 👍
YESSS DRAKKAR NOIR!!!!!
The original was much stronger and lasted longer. Maybe a bit more musky. One or two squirts lasted all night long. I loved it in the mid 80's, but by the late 80's all these dudes in the clubs were bathing in it.
i used to mix it with Paloma Picasso Miniature
Ya it's probably generic which makes a big difference cause it's pretty much the same packaging as every other bottle of cologne & as for the bottle it self the bottle is actually thick & really nice the quality of the bottle is actually really good its usual not long lasting unless close up
A mesterpiece as well as GIT creed. much better than viking and beau de jour
Definitely could be considered a masterpiece to many but not better than Beau de Jour which I think is one of the best Fougeres on the market currently!
@@FragranceHunter Well I was too emotional just bought yesterday DNoir. agree , beau de jour is a great fragrance as well !!
I wore the shit out of this in High School 1986. I was hugging ALL the ladies letting them get a whiff. lol in 86 it was THE in fragrance at my high school. Girls talked about it so you bought it. And when you'd hug them you didn't have to say anything. They'd just go "ooo you smell good" and soon i was getting a hello hug and "hmmmm. (she sniffs neck) Drakkar Noir."
Still smells amazing, the original has never been really musky or animalic, it was always a kind of sporty powerhouse if you wanna call it that, like a fancy deodorant smell or something. I have the 6.7oz bottle and it is really nice, has a ton of balls but still is kinda refined and extremely versatile and a mass pleaser for like being a vintage powerhouse, because there are scents that are not at all crowdpleasers from back in the day (Quorum, Gentleman 1974, Kouros, Antaeus, even Polo green and such are way heavier, animalic, musky, et cetera)
My formula is from 2016, bought the huge bottle back in around August or September 2020, early pandemic i recall smelling it on a clone and loving the scent, bought it there and then my dad says "Don't buy clones man, there's some buck, go grab it at the store) and i haven't used it almost at all not because i dislike it but because it has always been kinda weak on my skin... I am now in the search for using it more and getting the liquid to age a bit and perform better because it is a really amazing scent, this with a nice shirt or even a dark bomber jacket and some backwards combed hair and some denim, gives you that kinda OG powerhouse macho vibe but still being sexy and sporty, it is nice in that sense because Gentleman by Givenchy and such are extremely heavy and extremely elegant so you cannot wear them casually that easy...
Greetings man, keep rocking the powerhouse, this seems by the way to be the fougere women like the most, of any age, even being young and going around with young girls if you are confident and you rock it properly any woman will like it, either the divorcee aunts or overall older women around you and the girls as well, i call it 80's Sauvage. Take care
So I'm guessing it smells basically like Axe. lol
@@WrestlingErnestHemingway At the same time, smells Nothing like Axe since It Is extremely high quality ingredients, but kind of smells like deodorant in the Sense that it's Clean AND fresh, has some ingredients Axe would never use AND a ton of notes like lavender, lemon, bergamot, mint, lemon verbena, artemisia, absinthe, cinnamon, Jasmine, Juniper, pine, Leather, moss, Amber, vetiver, Patchouli, balsam fir AND all that, extremely complex but smells amazing. Even thou it's kinda weak nowadays it's just great AND for a Powerhouse It's versatile AND very Easy to like, Old school panty dropper, like 80's Sauvage or stuff
Mine haven’t nothing in back side of the bottle but it have a little lebel with batch code . How to know if a fake ?i checked the box code and lebel code in check fresh and is ok but longevity is very weack
Great review.
my son is 20 and he likes it we finished a bottle
Im 17 and this is my daily cologne, love it
How long does it last for?
@@chadsworthgigafuck7076depends on what you do during your day but when I’m just at school and going home it personally lasts me about 10 hours
I'm a teen trying to buy my first cheap fragrance. Would you recommend this or should I get something sweeter or fresher for summer?
Honestly this would definitely work as a versatile cheapie!
Buy it it's the best cologne ever
Will always be my favorite
the only one i use
Good choice Ivan it’s a great signature scent!
You like it in the summer?
my pops def owned this
I had this bottle, too sweet for me
may i know how long it lasts?
I was in elementary borrowing sprays from my partner in the mid 80s
I wear this after a fresh cut people know you just came fresh from getting a cut
Definitely has that fresh haircut vibe being a barbershop fragrance!
Hey bro good review here. I am with you 100 percent on this being timeless. I’m 27 and I started wearing this. It fits me so well and I don’t think it smells dated. Nautica voyage smells more dated than this and that’s my summer sig. I put some drakkar on and stepped in the freezer to get an idea of how it performs and smells in the cold and it was game over after the first wiff. Imo this smells best with just one spray on the neck. More than that it becomes almost too sharp. I’m also not a fan of the smell it has off clothes; it’s better when it mixes with my body chemistry. Drakkar noir for life.
Just picked up a bottle for fun. Looking forward to it. Great channel btw. Instantly subbed.
Enjoy Drakkar Noir brother and thank you Brian welcome to the channel!
Kouros paco rabanne and azzaro other great fougeres
I love Azzaro Pour Homme and need a bottle of Kouros!
Ash from Gents scents love this stuff
This vs Cool water vs savauge?
Depending on your age but I would say Sauvage out of these three!
Drakar noir Paco rabam good
My father always talked about it but i never smelled it 🤷♂️
I bet you have, just didn't know it. Think barbershop 90s - early 2000s
Does it need alot of sprays to make it evident.i got a 200ml bottle and sprayed like 4 times but didn't last alot on my shirt
So is it long lasting or does it need alot of sprays?
I remember its scent to be more woody and masculine.
Not even close of what it was in '80s. Sadly they treat this like any cheap cologne now days. if you can find & get the original formula, go for it.
Two months ago I bought my favorite perfume again. DRAKKAR Noir. And I was very disappointed. Unfortunately, the DRAKKAR Noir presented in the video is not the original perfume from the eighties. The difference in all grades is very large. Believe me, the original scent will blow your mind. There is a small note on the bottle. If the P of PARIS is very close to the Y of GUY, it's the original fragrance. ;)
Well the P was almost touching the Y on the small 1 oz bottle
I was born in 1982 I can't belive I am old as shit.
Timeless
bought
Drakkar was… what Acqua di Gio is… today
Does it smell like cigarette?
Not at all!
You should try to find some OG juice. I'm sure it's been reformulated.
the new batches are so bad it is not even a shade of it, so last years buying this is like throwing money away. 6 sprays 1 hour ago and I dont even notice it anymore
That’s surprising I got pretty decent performance from this newer formulation. By no means beast mode but about average!
Exactly
New formulation is not long lasting at all unless you spray alot
This has always smelled clean and bar soapy to me.
Best 👌
That’s a panty dropper in your hand homie!💪🏾💪🏾
I'm a dude I'm not gay but I'd drop my pants for it
Drake even got the bottle tatted 😂
This smells like the 80s to me, funny thing is I wasn’t even alive in the 80s but this how I imagine guys smelled in the 80s
GOT MY FIRST BOTTLE OF DRAKKAR IN 1987.
Sadly it a different formula than what my nose remembers. 😢
Very well said
You to young to remember Drakkar Nior that's all I'm 39 years old
👍
Every dude had this in the San Francisco Bay Area in the early 90s. I love it.
👍🏻
The modern Drakkar smells NOTHING like the OG… and Polo Green?!? No way!! Todays Polo Green isn’t even playing the same sport as the original… IT’S WAY OFF.
The 80’s scents have been murdered, they are no where near even being shadows of their originals, and unfortunately todays generation won’t have a chance to experience them.
Great vid, but your not getting a “hint” of what the 80’s was like…
