With OMICRON Threat, How Effective Are Mouthwashes and Nasal Sprays Against Covid 19 Infection?

- COVID-19 infection especially now with the threat of Omicron variant poses a serious risk to patients and - due to its contagious nature - to those healthcare workers (HCWs) treating them. Even when vaccinated and we left ourselves off guard without a mask, transmission can still occur and vaccinated people get the breakthrough infection.
Theories abound that If the mouth and nose of patients with infection are irrigated with antimicrobial solutions, maybe transmission can be minimized or prevented and at the same time infection controlled on site.
However, no strong recommendation as yet from health authorities on the use of such antimicrobial solutions as there are no firm studies to support its use.
So what are the date regarding the safety of the mouthwash and nasal spray for the prevention of Covid 19?
second covid boosted, xlear, betadine nasal, fluticasone and hepa filter mask with n95 are keeping me from infected since pandemic.
Is bactidol not ok to use? It is Also antiseptic..
Only povidine betadine mouthwash and nasal spray?
I had a strong exposure recently. I used betadine nasal spray and gargle. I stayed well. Funny how much resistance there is to this simple safe defence. People would rather be sick than gargle. Oh well. Humans are complex.

Iodine povidone kills 99% of viruses
Again after extended exposure in the house all of us remained Covid free after Gargling and using vicks first defence nasal spray. As you say in addition to all other recommendations.
The person who tested positive also followed the gargle and nasal spray regime. Much less symptoms than those also infected around us. The infected person forgot to do these measures and to mask. . 🇨🇦🌞thank you for this thoughtful reflections
No mention of Sanotize, nasal spray which has shown excellent results in studies

Sanotize is just a .05% Povodone iodine put in a nasal spray --I can make it myself in 2 minutes with a syringe 1:9 ratio, iodine : water

Herd immunity is impossible with vcc only. Two dose fizzer 15% eff. at 6 months.
Any advise,i will have a swab test for covid..can i use betadine nasal spray before having the swab?will it affect the result?

Look into Novavax if you can get it. Much safer, not mRNA, and still best vaccine against all variants.

Hello doc , iam a doctor from algeria and i realy need to know your opinion on people who got infected by covid and was not vaccinated , now they clearly all need to vaccinate to get the hybred immunity , studies showed that they only need one shot from Az , Pfizer or moderna, but how about sinovac , do they need one or two shots , irealy need you to answer my question because here in my country we know nothig about the sinovac vaccin and its the number one vaccin in my country

But doesn’t any respiratory virus first colonise the nasal passage before entering the test of the system?

Doc ask ko lang po. my 14 y/o daughter got her 2nd dose of Pfizer vaccine last Dec. 2. naka-fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea for 3 days. she complained msakit daw chest nya, her pulse rate po ay 135 to 140 for 3 days. I called the pediatrician abt that, she said it's just a normal side effects. Ganon po ba yon tlaga?
