Yes, knitting can be so annoying. I always end up with leftover wool. Crochet cardigan is looking good though. You have inspired me to store my zips better and I have a plan!! I have used William Gee in the past and have also been impressed. Happy Sewing 😊. Lynne
Thanks Lynne, I’d love to go to William Gee next time I’m in London, it’s a bit out of the way but it looks amazing! I’m glad it’s not just me who gets frustrated about the wool… it really is taking the fun out of crochet for me 🙈
Good Morning Hayley 👋 Debbie Here. Great reason for not going to the show😊 i have started knitting again as I have been inspired by Stitched by Mrs D podcast and am trying socks for the first time 🤪I bought a couple of fabrics while in Japan last year, I will have to get them out after Christmas so I don’t have them for 10 years 😂😂😂😂 x Have a lovely weekend x x
Hi Debbie, Good luck with the socks, they seem like a great project as they are useful and transportable! I love a crochet project I can keep in the car and do whilst I'm waiting for the kids and such, but this cardigan is not it, it's massive 😂 Yes, get those fabrics out and used! 10 years!!! 😂 Enjoy your weekend too x
Harrogate is weekend after next. I'm going for other sewing stuff, I have a list and no fabric on it 🤣. It's our first time going, the sewing for pleasure show is our usual go to 😊 hadn't heard of mara before, had a quick look on the website, it says for overlocking 😮
Oh you'll have such fun, it really is a great show. The haberdashery is great - buttons and tools especially, and if you're in the market for a new sewing machine there are loads to try. Good luck resisting the lovely fabric! I've never been to Sewing For Pleasure, is it good? I've always assumed it is focussed on quilting rather than dressmaking, but I don't know why I think that, I have nothing to back that up 😂 Yes, it's marketted for overlocking, but I've read that it is the same product at the Sew-All. I use Gutterman Toldi Lock for overlocking and it is definitely finer and smoother than that. It looks (to the naked eye) exactly the same as the sew-all, which is why I am so fascinated! I will report back!
The different dye lots can come a cropper when washing. Mum made our school uniform jumpers/ cardigans and mine had a different dye lot on one sleeve that faded over time with washing *sigh* Left over yarns make fun projects (blankets, hats, gloves, scarves) and I know a local recycling centre takes yarns and a church friend gets her yarns there to make blankets for project Linus
Oh no, don’t say that! Lucky for me I only hand-wash crocheted items, in other words I only wash them like once a year 😂 I have made a few bits with the leftovers, but even then I’ve hit the same snag. I tried to make a baby hat from the remains of a ball of yarn once… and I ran out 🤦🏻♀️😂
@ my jumper was machine washed every week for “cold terms” and the fading wasn’t a problem until towards the end of the first half of the summer term when mum frogged the yarn and that of any damage from the other jumpers and made new jumpers out the saved yarn for the next couple of years. It was a very heavily used garment. I think mum used to use at least 2 or 3 (or more) leftover yarns so it didn’t matter if she ran out of one, she just made sure they all hand the same weight/ tension and washed to the most “delicate” requirements. Like patchwork for knitting.
Hi Hayley, I love your cardigan but i know what you mean about the leftover yarn, any waste just drives me crazy, so even with sewing I am always trying to get the smallest amount so that there is hardly any waste at the end, I also use up all bits from work projects. The advent calender is beautiful too and so much better than the cardboard ones. ☺
Thanks Dianne, we are kindred spirits, I LOVE it when there are just wisps left when cutting out a sewing project! I do love the advent calendar (and more importantly the kids do too), now to buy some chocolates to fill it with 😋
Great vlog as always I am with you on the zip thing I must do something with mine ❤❤
Thank you ☺️ They are so hard to store aren’t they, just a tangled mess before!

Love your ziporganiser
Thanks so much, it's basic but it actually works really well!

@@alwaysinthecraftroom Yes the most important bit! Or at least to the kids, while we are here swooning over the pretty fabric☺
