    I've always wished Tune Core had a teams feature like DistroKid for splits/royalties to automatically send to collaborators. That would be a big game changer

      Good news - I just found out that TuneCore just launched their splits feature globally!

    Tunecore has an option to get mechanical license for covers, its $17 per song, plus pre-pay royalties for a certain amount of downloads. Each time you have to get more downloads I think is $7 + pre-pay royalties. They also have a $70 option (per song) that is lifetime, and every 3 months, they come charge your card for the royalties. The 1st 1000 downloads are free, after that they chart like $.079 per unit and capped at $200 per quarter.

    I used tunecore for 2 albums this year. For some reason they haven’t been able to get the newest album up to Apple Music yet (it’s been almost 2 weeks since the release date) album is up on everything else just fine

    • @deviant-noise
      @deviant-noise  2 роки тому

      Yes, release times are really all over the place - that's why I recommend submitting at least a month before your planned release date.

    Can someone please clarify this for me. I know Tunecore has recently changed its model to better rival Distrokid but I'm not sure if you still have to pay the yearly fee for each single/album you released? If so how much is that fee?

    • @deviant-noise
      @deviant-noise  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not 100% about this, but fairly sure this is how it works (as it's similar with DistroKid) - as long as you stay subscribed yearly to a plan, all your music stays on stores. I don't believe there are separate album/single renewal fees but, again, not 100% certain.

    I'm about to release new music videos/songs.. i am abit confused on a few things. Do i need content id?? And if i dont select content id will my music vids and music be protected? What if other people claim my music as theres on yt? Alot of famous artists dont have content id, but have a topic channel? So i'm confused with that.. also the language of my music is Serbian and distrokid doesnt have serbian as a language option.. does tunecore?
    Any help is much apprectated thanks!

    • @deviant-noise
      @deviant-noise  Рік тому +1

      I actually used CDBaby for my very first album release - but that was way back when they still handled physical CD distribution as well. But nowadays, that's not really a thing since practically no one buys music like that.

  • @AlexIovitaOfficial

    There's another difference between them. Tunecore does not distribute to Beatport, while Distrokid does.

  • @devarni
    @devarni Рік тому

    Both take the songs out of the stores when you cancel the subscription? Otherwise, Tunecore, even the smaller package allows you to set a release date!

    • @deviant-noise
      @deviant-noise  Рік тому

      I'm honestly not 100% sure about whether or not your music stays on the platforms if you cancel your subscription. It's been hard to find a definitive answer on that for either Tunecore OR Distrokid.

    • @devarni
      @devarni Рік тому

      I found the two statements on their support pages.
      Tunecore statement:
      "In order for your music to remain available in stores beyond the first year, you must pay an annual renewal fee. If the renewal fee has not been paid by the renewal date, your release will be removed from stores."
      Distrokid:
      "If you do not renew your subscription with DistroKid, the service will remove your music. The subscription will be billed on an annual basis from the date of signup."
      So be careful with Tunecore and Distrokid. Distrokid has a "legacy" option where you pay about $20 per song to keep your songs in the stores forever... that can quickly cost a few thousand dollars if you have a dozen songs/albums there!
      So a major down side with these distributors: you're locked in and have to pay the subscription for as long as the songs are in the stores (or pay a very expensive extra).

    Hey does Tunecore let you whitelist your chamnel before i upload my music video to youtube? Because i just found out with distrokid... you have to wait until you get a cc claim on your channel and then dispute it.. i find that unfair if that's the case.. then the distributors earn 20% until the cc claim is cleared and that couls take days or weeks.. does anyone have more info on this? Are you able whitelist your chanell on Tunecore and then when you upload on music is should be all clear automatically?

      @@deviant-noise thanks! So when i upload my music vid on youtube there will be no cc claim from the get go? Because with dk you have to get a cc claim first and then dispute it.

    • @deviant-noise
      @deviant-noise  Рік тому

      Depends - I'd recommend reaching out to Artist Support BEFORE submitting/releasing any music so they know from the jump that your YT channel should be white listed. Then I'm thinking you'll be fine with no copyright claim, since your channel is whitelisted in TuneCore's backend before you release any music with them.
