My mother passed away few months ago, our Diwali ritual was to start cooking such things for festival. However, I never learnt the recipes fully. Today, in memory of her i made it alone following this recipe. Thank you for such videos!

I don’t understand Tamil but your sincerity in actions & the captions in English helped me understand this recipe. Didn’t understand why raw soaked chana dal is needed. It’s the only wet ingredient alongside all the extra dried ones. Also no butter needed in flour mixture before kneading to get the crunchiness?

Actually, i first ate this thattai when i was in Johore in Malaya. It then cost five cents. The groundnuts embedded in the Thattai added flavor as well as taste. After we came to India in 1958, i am hearing this name first time. Thank you very much SIR!

Sir, my kids used to eat samosa that too only the corners not the stuffing when we buy from outside. I was reminded of this recipe and thought would make at home only. Followed your recipe steps it came out well.. I tried only with one cup flour .. and reduced the spice level.. it did not consume much oil.. it was good and kids liked it.. thanks a lot sir..

In Dharmapuri district we call it as Nipatt. It will have rich ground nuts and bit thick in size. Even in local store Nipat taste delicious. Never had those authentic tastes anywhere in Chennai.
