Impressive to see Eric making that while sticking so strictly to what he actually received! I would've expected him to allow staples like ketchup like others, but that was nice! And of course Gina is always an absolute delight any time we get to see her!
Eric's become a favorite of mine as far as the professionals REAL fast. HIm & Lish. :) I don't think I've seen other episodes Gina has been in, or I don't recall, but she seems funny and adorbs, and eager to do her best in these. ~Ry
That duo is so great! Gina reminds me of a girl I went to high school with. So much energy, but not draining like some energetic people can be. She just radiates joy for life, and I love being around people like that. Oh, what a delight.
People who complain about the $21 burger are either blind or unable to think critically. It’s not ONE burger for $21, all the ingredients total to $21 and you can make multiple burgers. 🤦🏻♀️
@@theoperkinson6574 yeah, all I have is a grocery store near me (southern Ontario) since I can't drive. White onions are $2 apiece, Vidalia $2.50. I could get a 3 lb bag of red for a little over 5 bucks but would end up having to throw most of them out since chronic pain and other disease makes it difficult to cook most of the time.
@@myboatforacar Woow, I also don't have a car, but I use my bike. But at pretty much every grocery stores here you can get a bag of onions for 5$. Didn't know it was worse in Ontario!
I wonder if they bought all the ingredients at the same place or possibly they listed the price of the whole container for the expensive burger and just however much was used for the cheap.
Best comment! Previously I assumed it was always the price of the full container, and the same rules for both lists. Different rules will certainly impact the total price in a skewed way.
@@ouzolovesIt's most likely your first option. Nobody uses a third of a jar of mayo on a few burgers. That means the chef is getting taken advantage of for shopping at a "better quality" store for the exact same products. Or maybe it's just that the show made a mistake.
@@ouzoloves I think you're on to something. They probably bought the cheap tray at a regular supermarket, and the high-end tray at like Banducci's/Marky's/other gourmet supermarket where you'd find the esoteric stuff as well as stuff like mayo; and the mayo will totally be 3x as expensive at one of the gourmet stores, even if it is the same brand.
the best upgrade you can do to a basic burger is to grind the meat yourself. dont even need a special blend just chuck some chuck in a grinder and use that
I'd eat both! If it was me, I would probably have done only one layer rather than two in the burger Eric made, and made Gina's considerably thinner. I like having burgers that are more manageable.
I love Gina, she's adorable! all the people going 'she's so annoying' y'all sound like you'd be boring af to be around don't know how to have fun while cooking or just be fun in general.
Too tall for my mouth, typical American cuisine here, the technique is nice though. P.S. IDK why are people are so mad at the prices, Epicurious always puts the ingredients price instead of meal price in the title.
They used *the same mayo.* Hers cost $3.38, but his cost 10.69?! 🤷🤷♂🤷♀ Why do they trick us like this instead of just give the actual price which would still be way more expensive? 🤷🤷♂🤷♀
A lot of these, they make the latter tray "expensive" by using one or two expensive wines/balsamic/truffle/etc.. If it was "$20 burger vs $75 dollar burger," it wouldn't be as exciting for people to watch. I'm surprised there wasn't truffle in this one, or bottarga on all the noodle videos like this just to increase the price dif.
meh, $60 for just the Tawny port to make a marmalade that you will slather a tablespoon onto the burger? Yeh, some of these ingredients gets just way too much. Realistically though, her $21 ingredients looks probably sufficient for maybe 4 to 6 burgers, sizes for a family meal, so costs seem reasonable at maybe $4 or $5 each burger.
Same jar for her cost less than $3.50. That goes to show, you shouldn't shop for everything in one place. Unless you would rather support smaller businesses more.

I think the idea with the prices is that it's for everything they bought, and probably ideally serves 3-4 people. See the amount of tomatoes Gina had, she had a whole package of cheese, and look at the amount of meat in Eric's recipe. So it's divided by 3 or 4/ serving.

I’m glad he switched up the “with a little technique…” speech they do in every single one of these 😂
