I have absolutely no intention to buy a $39 barrel, but I watch anyway, because I just like John’s videos. Same with Hop.
Fair enough!
In marketing this is called a "loss leader" or "gateway purchase" . That's a sale item that they don't make much money on and possibly loose a little bit. The point of it is to get you to buy and try their product with the intent that you will become more familiar with the brand and products and will make future purchases. Chances are the QC is good on this product for that reason. DB seems to have a pretty good reputation in the bargain segment.
I have used Diamondback barrels and handguards on several builds, they have all been exceptional value, I am a big fan of Diamondback. They are a company to watch IMO.
Good to hear.
Sounds like a good option for a cheap handout build.
or a backup beater gun
I have no rational explanation for how much I adore the "peace off" sign-offs, but gave me a much needed smile.
:)
Perfect barrel for me to learn how to drill and pin a gas block on
there you go
I find your opinion a very trustworthy one .. thanks so much
Delton has some “cheap” chrome lined barrels also. Good for a beater build. Wonder if there are any major differences in quality between diomandback and Delton?
I have had good luck with a couple of Delton parts.
You had me at dimpled.
This is the exact barrel I shot that fat 150-200lb boar with a couple years ago. Hit it in the earhole at about 65 yards and it was lights out before it even hit the ground. Was quite impressed with the 70gr Barnes Vor-tx TSX bullets.
Mine is also 1/8 twist, seems to really like the heavier 62gr m855 and 70 grain solid copper OTM (vortx, underwood, Lehigh). The rifle is more accurate than I am, which is impressive for the price. Even at full price ($70ish) they are still a good buy.
If you'd like to compare yours to mine (which is probably about 5 years old now) I will take some pictures and measurements to compare. Unless youd prefer I pull my barrel and send it to you for a direct side by side comparison... In which case I would absolutely be willing to do that. In total my diamondback barrel has less than 2000 rounds on it, but my main objective with it was cold bore accuracy on 2 to 3 round groups so it hasn't got a high round count (copper OTM ammo is spensive) Not like my 12.5 ballistic advantage barrel that goes with me every single range trip and has probably 4K rounds of 223/556 mixed along with about a thousand frangible for indoor ranges, but also shot an additional 3-4K .22lr from the cmmg conversion bolt. I absolutely love that 12.5 setup but hunting with barrels shorter than 16" on public land is kinda sketch because I find most Wildlife officers and game wardens aren't up to date on their regulations and will gladly ticket you for something that's completely legal now but it wasnt 5 years ago.
Originally I got that barrel to build a "buddy rifle" to lend out if we go hunting and someone joins us, or if buddy takes a spill in the woods and potentially damages his scope... however the thing shoots so well that it's now became my go-to when I go hunting. Could not be more pleased with what I received. It's now in a breek arms handguard with a Midwest industries receiver and carrier, but I'm probably gonna swap out for NiBx or chrome lined because I want the Midwest stuff for another build (faxon barrel, aero handguard, 17 designs lower).
Sick man! I got way too much to review right now.
I bought one in 7.62x39 back in Dec. & it shoots 5 shot clovers at 100 yrds. with good ammo. Not sure how it would do if run hard though ? I couldn't beat it for this price, it was also dimpled, very nice.
I cant find the deal anywhere
Love where you mounted the swampfox. I'll look into those deals. Badass work as usual
My first rifle was a Diamond back 556 for sub 800 in 2020. Prices were swelling then and I still feel like I stole the thing because it’s crazy accurate, never fails, and made 100% American. It’s the Canik of rifles in that it’s the Best Buy for the buck except it’s also dreamed up, designed, and manufactured in America out of Fla. It’s a good barrel for sure.
I remember them being about $400/$500 just before the George Floyd panic inflation. Brother got the DB 308 for like $700. Nothing wrong with them at all.
The rifle I got is actually going for over $1000 now. Got mine at a gun show when masks were still being worn, lines were looooong, gun stores and shows were all under heavy pressure, and inventories were low. My local guy actually had a limit on 9mm. It was like two boxes a week or something like that. Felt like a steal at the time and now it’s $200 more minus what I’ve put on it.
Got one and it shoots fine
Thanks man I’ve been looking for a cheap mid length barrel!
Glad to help
@@gundeals where did you see them on sale? I was only able to find them for $80+
Unironically just as good
Weird seeing that sweet Geissele rail with "one of the cheapest barrels on the market."
Diamondback is odd...This past Christmas they were selling 13" 308 Pistols and ten 20 round magpul magazines for like 500$...The gun alone normal price was around 1350 or 1400. Too good to pass up.
I can't necessarily speak for any of Diamondback's AR products, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a completely different segment. But I have not heard good things about their 9mm pistols, and speaking from personal experience, I had two Sidekicks that fell far below expectations.
The first Sidekick that I purchased was shortly after they released. I wanted a DA/SA 22lr revolver for a reasonable price - $300 isn't unfair. What I got was a revolver that had trouble ejecting cases, would scratch up its own finish doing so, and had accuracy equivalent to throwing bullets at a target. Complete with keyholing too.
I tried different types of ammo. Winchester, Browning, CCI, Armscor, Federal, etc. It consistently failed to meet even the accuracy of my Rough Rider in single action - in double action the trigger pull was so heavy it would overload trigger gauges. 16 lbs+. It was not smooth, and you could feel something was wrong.
So I sent it in to get serviced. DB said "Oh, woops, it's easier if we send you a new gun. We can't fix the first." Okay, sure. Free shipping, gen 2 Sidekick? Let's see what happens.
Very little changed. It was almost as bad as the first, but the trigger was slightly better. It had a definitive valley that you could sit in right before the hammer released. Still heavy as fuck though.
Needless to say I was, and am, still disappointed.
Sorry man.
@@gundeals Hopefully their AR barrels are of a higher quality - I can live with a shitty range toy, but that's a whole different ballgame.
Diamond Back could sell there barrels for 15 cents, id id still buy em an use them. They are proper and accurate.
👍
Good lord! I got click baited I thought the rifle was $39 😂😅
Its not clickbait if you just didn't read the title...
@@Knox-ec9urwhich I didn’t I just saw $39 lol
I have a diamondback 13.7 in the same spec, no issues at all. Right now it’s my test dummy. It’s got a strike miller comp (so I can switch out gas blocks), aero adj. gas block, and an expo arms hand guard. It is putting down about 1.3 in groups with heavier loads and about 2in with 55 grains. I used it to test the PA Nova and were moving on to the new Vortex Venom to see how it goes 🤘🏼
How many rounds you think?
Awesome man!
Wow
If you’re building out loaner rifles to train people for stuff and things, this could be great
For sure.
Buy cheap. Stack deep.
How do you like the Rifle Speed setup? I've been thinking about trying it out.
It's good and can work in just about any setup out there.
Schulyer Arms has Aero Precision/Ballistic Advantage barrels for 60% off. I bought 2 pencil 16" barrels.
That's a good deal
Wow! And they are undoubtedly profiting from that price....
Somehow
just curious i checked out this barrel online and that led me to primary arms website. on sale for $65, not bad, it confirmed the " medium contour" stated here, but holy cow the reviews were terrible! few products on their site have such bad reviews. i was starting to feel bad about my recent purchase of an aero precision 416r barrel recently for $98, but i think i made a good choice. it looks really clean inside and out
I haven't seen the reviews actually! but I don't doubt that QC is not great.
Ascend Armory receiver I see.......nice.
Next level armory actually
@@gundeals Yep. NL acquired the IP/blueprints of Ascend Armory when the owner shut the biz down, because of health issues if I remember correctly. Ascend Armory was a local company here in PHX. Were great folks...unfortunate to see them gone.
$40 for a barrel that works is kinda hard to turn down. Even if it shot worse 1 moa.
Curious though... what stock is that on the rifle?
UTG S2
Mk13 rail foe the win
Any idea how this barrel was manufactured? I'm assuming it is a "cut" barrel.
6 groove cut barrels
i got a free barrel from primary arms it was a BCA, the gas hole was clocked about 1oclock lmao
oof
You should sell this configuration on your shop and name it the "silly goose".
Where do they ever put these on sale for 39 bucks?
@@bolognatony8739primary arms has some of the best barrel sales you can find. Rosco barrels for about 110 sometimes, ballistic advantage for 70-100 usually, and FN barrels for around 210
primary arms, AR15 Discounts, and probably a couple other
Where's the link??
Not on UA-cam
Sounds like something a cheapskate would buy and then complain about lack of accuracy.
Gotta be better then Bca I keep hearing nothing but bad things about them
So far so good.
Looks like we're having trouble with the word Diamondback today. You misspelled "Daimondback" in the thumbnail and dude that left first comment did also 😂 "Diomandback"
Nope... They're all spelled correctly.
Is your Dyslexia kicking in? 😅
Relax Francis
@@RichardCranium321 is your 3rd grade reading level kicking in? 😅

You're definitely experiencing Dyslexia. Might want to ask your doctor about that, because I see noething wrong hear. 😁

Wow! That is low-price!
TU and comment for the channel. Hard pass on junk $39 barrels.
$40.00 Barrels? .. lol.. How are they making money?
$39.99*
@@user-jn1wp6pj5i Dork
@user-jn1wp6pj5i you must be the life of the party.
Contract overrun. They already made their money from the contract. The $40 basically just covers the cost of the steel.
diamond back are scumbags that won't sell barrels to nj lol
Sorry to hear
Got a bca bolt that self disassembled. Luckily it was sitting in my spare parts bin
oofs
@@gundeals it’s like the law of averages, the more you buy from the worse the QC gets. I bought a .308 upper from them and they sent a .223 Wylde, think it was God saying wait for Jon. 😂
Soooooo.... click bait. But Primary Arms has'em.
they go on sale for about $40 as mentioned
Thank you for spelling stupid, "stupid" . And not sToOpeD
where's the link?
