    8:20 From a full time mechanic... THANK YOU sir. Most ppl bring in a total crap box and have no care in the world for cleanliness. Dont even get me started on farmers, especially hog farmers trucks... Do you have a section of flex pipe anywhere near the engine?? I didnt see one, and that could be most of your problem. If the exhaust is rigid all the way back vibrations and/or excessive engine movement from worn engine mounts can break exhaust like right now. The flex pipe soaks up that movement. Just a thought.. great job gettin er done yourself. Screw those dudes for not standing behind their work. Its places like that that give us mechanics a bad name.

    I would weld it up. And run it, as a spare. That mat is nice. Can see me using that alot. That's insane I have magna flow on my chevy been on there since 96 just got my first leak. They got crappy over the years. Cheaper parts they make more money. I'm just going to weld my leak. It will probably last another 10 years. Thanks brother Richie.

    I have had similar failures of down pipes cracking and breaking welds . The solution was a flexy joint that you weld into the exhaust system. You work your cruiser, it flexes a lot and gravel roads shake everything to bits . I would suggest your get a exhaust shop to install a flexy joint . I believe that was the cause of the failure. A exhaust shop should've known that because it's their job.

    ALWAYS use Anti-Seize on exhaust nuts and bolts!
    Stainless as a metal can be a bit brittle depending on which stainless is used.
    Because of this brittleness and reluctance to be welded in the first place you need to weld a heavier bead usually requiring a double weld.

    I’m so wanting to get away from the net and all but I keep coming back.
    Thanks for the follow up. I thought going through brackish water might have done it to the steel. It’s in between ocean and fresh water and it can do some damage.
    Like driving your car through Gatorade! So it was the mud that made it look like that. Glad you got it figured out.
    Sorry. Don’t know why I keep commenting. I’ll try and stop. 🙃

And was showing off his new 80 series exhaust. within 2 years I had to totally replace the entire exhaust because it was nothing but issues pretty much documented on my instagram. He didnt back it up. so after less than 2 years I had to replace my otramm exhaust. I now have a 3in SS custom made exhaust. thats a true story.

    Hi Richie! Mate, i want to share with you my thoughts. First, the thing you allready know is the wrong gauge of tubing. Second, he might be used wrong electrodes. Other possible thing is that the guy is not enough experienced welder. Now, important wen welding SS is to be back purged with the shielding gas and not to be cooked with wrong welding apparatus settings. Another very important thing is that, the stainless is not well accepting high temperatures. It changes it's properties. Is it an option for you to talk with someone about other possible materials? I think that in the refineries, where a high temperature/pressure processes are taking place, the vessels involved are with flanges/fasteners made from INCONEL, INCOLOY or HASTELLOY(different grades are there) alloys. Idk is it expensive or even can you find it for free use, but may be it's worty to ask for it, someone familiar and is it suitable for the exhaust system. Any way, God bless you and take care!

It's made of heavy gauge aluminized steel and sounds awesome on my Dodge! V8's for life!

    They must have used that cheap 304 stainless steel which is just a step above galvanized. The salt where you live in Boston from the ocean will destroy it immediately. You need the highest grade stainless steel for an exhaust system not the cheapest crap that I wouldn't even use in nails

  • @marionmitchell261
    @marionmitchell261 3 роки тому

    I bet those were welded in China, or at least overseas. Quality is NOT a concern. The metallurgy for the base metal let alone the filler wire would fill the spectrum of contaminates. Not to be an armchair quarterback, but that weld on the new cat, will more than likely fail soon. The dark grey is a sure sign the shielding gas was not of adequate flow to cover the weld puddle, let alone the purity of the gas to begin with I'm sure is VERY questionable.. The few people that may have some idea of producing quality, are hindered by time constraints placed on them. And as far as stainless steel, if it is not produced in the U.S. or Germany. The term stainless is subjective. Hope this works out this time, but you told it spot on, when you said you could not give money to people to perform work or produce a product you're willing to pay for it.
