Saw these guys live 30+ times live and each time was new experience in AWESOME !!!! My first show was September 18th 1984 at the 1980 Olympic Arena in Lake Placid NY and pretty much every tour all the way up through R40 In Montreal. RIP Neil Peart........gone too soon but NEVER forgotten !!!!!
@@groezinjohn I'm lucky enough to live in close proximity to Montreal, Saratoga (SPAC), Ottawa and Darien Lake. I have most of my ticket stubs but not all of them unfortunately
This is one of those songs where I dunno which is better - the guitar solos are so cool, smooth and epic but the bass lines are so damn gut punching, fat and funky and frigging awesome and then there is the best drummer the world has ever seen playing those far out fills. Rush was on another level.
I was at this concert along with many other Rush concerts and it does shake your insides! lol I believe at this concert I was center stage 12 rows back.
My very 1st Rush concert was in the year1981, I've seen them 10 times since then with the ticket stubs to prove it, LOL. I saw them three times on the Vapor Trails Tour in 3 different states (Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. That was the last time I saw them live, and I regret not seeing them more. R.I.P Neil Peart & Retire in Peace, Alex and Geddy🙏❤
Last time I saw them live was on the snake and arrows tour. During the drum solo they had a purple couch on the side of the stage where Alex and Geddy went to sit, have what looked like some beers and enjoy the show. What now seems a lifetime ago.
Whenever I see this footage, I'm reminded of how - within a couple of months - Peart would be grieving the loss of his adult daughter to a car accident and - within a year - he would also be grieving the loss of his wife to cancer. It would be almost four years before they'd resume the business of music making. The Molson Ampitheatre (now unfortunately rechristened the Budweiser Stage) has always been my favourite concert location and the first of the two concerts Rush held there in July of 1997 was my first experience of it.
Glad you loved Geddy, Alex and Neil. Professor Neil is missed everyday. Anywho, hope maybe you get a gander and listen to Ghost Of A Chance and Roll The Bones off their Roll The bones album. Not as intense as YYZ but....
Alex is right there with Jimmy, Eric, Eddie, Jeff...etc...so underrated!!! When you are playing with Geddy and Neil you damn well better be one of the best!!!
The most impressive thing about this drum solo, is that this was just after he completely rebuilt his playing style for the Burnin' for Buddy tribute albums to Buddy Rich. He decided that just because the drumming world sees him as the greatest drummer in the world, doesn't mean that he couldn't improve. He completely broke everything down to the beginners basics. That's why, if you watch closely to how he held his sticks during "Leave That Thing Alone" and up to the second kit rotation was different to how he held them at the end of the solo.
Totally agree. Pink Floyd had phenomenal stadium shows second to none and Gilmour's guitar is as good as it gets, but nobody could top Rush's live performances! Saw Floyd twice, Rush 17 times. Those were the days!
"It makes me happy!!!". To this day, 45 years later. "This is making my day!!!". Every time. "Probably shakes your inside live!!!". It did. Rush is a cornerstone and a guiding light in my life. Great to watch other folks experience my favorite band! Thank you!!!
IMHO, THIS is the Neil Peart solo that reactors should be reacting to. I consider it his best solo that has been recorded/distributed...followed closely by the Rush In Rio solo. Great reaction, y'all!
Lucy 😊😊😊 we’re soo in with this reaction. She is very expressive Is really nice to see when a musician admires another musician doing their stuff. Good reaction guys 👍👍🎸🎸🥳🥳🥳♥️♥️☮️☮️☮️
This song isn't that hard to play on bass. It's how Geddy plays it.....the aggression and precision. Geddys flamenco finger thing. Damn! And the writing!
That was a much better solo from Neil than the one from Frankfurt that everyone has been watching. This was a much more energetic, spontaneous delivery! Thanks for that.
This is such a great song! It's one of my favorite Geddy Lee bass lines, and Neil's drum solo is amazing! There is a slightly cleaner, clearer live version of this song live from the Time Machine tour (although it doesn't include the drum solo).
The drum solo used to be a time when concertgoers could get up and go grab a beer or use the restroom, but when The Professor was in the house, you'd immediately stop what you were doing and watch in stunned silence. Have a great day, and Rush on! 🥁 🥁 🐐 🐐
Well that's Carl Palmers drum turntable he purchased after ELP was no more. Carl Palmer was quite good but IMO was just not as proficient as the professor overall but the Band ELP was a great prog band that was also great live.
@thatsnice99 It's part of the whole. Compare and contrast. Different stages, if you will. Just because YOU don't like something doesn't make it universal.
LOVE THE REACTION!!!!!!!!!!!! :) soooooo much good!!! and Love!!! :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13 FYI.... only married sex can be perfect. ♥
Neil Peart.
Admired for his talent, respected for his intellect, loved for his humanity.
RIP Professor.
They are to this day even after retirement the greatest rock band of all time ❤
When other drummers solo you hear drumming. When Neil solos, you hear music.
That's correct.
Bravo! Bravo!!! ❤❤
Winning hearts and minds from beyond the grave. You never truly die as long as you are remembered. R.I.P Neil 🕊
❤❤❤
The Professor was incredible 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Neil’s cross drumming was unmatched!

30 times????!!!! You lucky bugger. I have been a fan since I was 15 back in 1992 and I haven't had the privilege and honour of seeing them live once.
Since 1981, I've seen them 10 times..
Just sayin
@@groezinjohn I'm lucky enough to live in close proximity to Montreal, Saratoga (SPAC), Ottawa and Darien Lake. I have most of my ticket stubs but not all of them unfortunately
20+ times starting with Signals 😉💪🤘😊
They are not human!!!!

Geddy said in an interview that both him and Alex would always stay on the side and never miss a Neil solo.
Last time I saw them live was on the snake and arrows tour. During the drum solo they had a purple couch on the side of the stage where Alex and Geddy went to sit, have what looked like some beers and enjoy the show.
What now seems a lifetime ago.
Percussionist is the definition of Neil Peart.
Thanks for playing Rush live! Cheers guys! Like like like!
Rush..
thats it
Was at this show.
A gorgeous summer night and they played 2112 in its entirety.
Lucky you! ❤

This is one of my favorite base lines ever from Geddy
"Niel is the most 'air drummed to' drummer in the whole world."
~Stuart Copeland: Drummer for the Police~
Getty made the Bass cool. Neil gave birth to AirDrums. And Alex ties it together perfectly.
I never saw that one, THANK YOU!! 😍
It absolutely made my day!👍🎶🎶🎶
RIP Neil. Long live the Professor!
Glad you loved Geddy, Alex and Neil. Professor Neil is missed everyday.

as a drummer he is the man'' the professor
Getty made the Bass cool, Air Drum were born because of Neil and Alex ties it all together .
And like you said about no words...Being able to fully capture a crowd like that!!!
RIP Neil🥁🤘
Such a great video especially Neil suffering from that tendinitis. Can't believe he would lose his daughter a month later. So sad. RIP Pratt.
Love me some Rush! Neil Peart (P-EAR-t) really is one of the best drummers in rock history! This is one of their more underrated songs.
Geddy"s bass has a weird fuzz to it . Sounds off. His playing is still spectacular!
Niel was a machine on the drums. RUSH was the best live band in my opinion. The only band that came close was Pink Floyd.
Totally agree. Pink Floyd had phenomenal stadium shows second to none and Gilmour's guitar is as good as it gets, but nobody could top Rush's live performances! Saw Floyd twice, Rush 17 times. Those were the days!
Cute back on the sulfates
Great performance
do Roll the bones.... more recent rush, but listen to the lyrics.
After laying down the track, Neil asked the lads if they should put lyrics to it and they said "nah, leave that thing alone"..😂😅😂
RUSH Rules! Saw Them In Los Angeles 1986! 🙂
Was there and seen them.
When Suzy said that she loves how Neil keeps the beat going with his feet, Neil was playing in 3/4 time with his feet and 4/4 time with his hands.
Limb independence! Probably the most impressive part of the solo!
"It makes me happy!!!". To this day, 45 years later.
"This is making my day!!!". Every time.
"Probably shakes your inside live!!!". It did.
Rush is a cornerstone and a guiding light in my life.

Great reaction, y'all!
You know at some point in time you need to understand that they're just flat out showing off
Yep, that's their entire catalog of music, they were showing off the whole time!
I think this is better then hs Frankfurt solo.
Awesome Reaction! Love your hair. R.I.P Neil
Lucy 😊😊😊 we’re soo in with this reaction.
She is very expressive
Is really nice to see when a musician admires another musician doing their stuff.
Good reaction guys 👍👍🎸🎸🥳🥳🥳♥️♥️☮️☮️☮️
The reason it's so big for them to play in Toronto is because that thier hometown
Love the facial expressions...lol
Did you notice a brace on his right elbow?
mrs. wolfhunter has crazy facial reaction.
The best ever.
Is there such as thing as being "Too Talented"? If so, that would be RUSH!
Top tier ❤

Neil Peart is a GOAT in rock drumming .
This concert was recorded 6 weeks before Neil's whole world crashed when his daughter died and his wife soon after that.
This is such a great song! It's one of my favorite Geddy Lee bass lines, and Neil's drum solo is amazing! There is a slightly cleaner, clearer live version of this song live from the Time Machine tour (although it doesn't include the drum solo).
Neil Peart single-handedly turned the drum solo into an event of its own, as opposed to an excuse for a bathroom break at a concert.
Q: 🤔 "What do 🎛️🎚️ Drum Machines want to be when they grow up?"
A: 🤗 "Neil Peart aka The Professor! " 🖖🏿🥰🐰
precision
Neil's solos always sound like they're being played by at least 3 drummers.
The drum solo used to be a time when concertgoers could get up and go grab a beer or use the restroom, but when The Professor was in the house, you'd immediately stop what you were doing and watch in stunned silence. Have a great day, and Rush on!
🥁 🥁 🐐 🐐
That bass is CHUNKY!
You just witnessed total limb independence. This was one of the last Rush concerts before Neil lost his daughter in a car crash.
We need a Carl Palmer drum solo
Well that's Carl Palmers drum turntable he purchased after ELP was no more. Carl Palmer was quite good but IMO was just not as proficient as the professor overall but the Band ELP was a great prog band that was also great live.

Say "peert" not "pert. P-👂-t. 🥰
Wolf Hunterz? You mean "Booger" Hunterz? Anybody know what booger means?
It spun
Nice original choice.
Yet another drum solo BETTER than Frankfurt. Someone tell that to the ignorant Rush fans.
Is there a BAD choice?
@ yes there are many bad choices. Rivendell, Time stand still, which hunt, hold your fire, the entire album, All of Presto,.
@thatsnice99 It's part of the whole.
Compare and contrast. Different stages, if you will.
Just because YOU don't like something doesn't make it universal.
What a fucking athlete!!!!!💪🏼👑🥁👏🏻

Rat Salad Black Sabbath
We know who wears da pantz in deeese family!
The version of Leave that Thing Alone from the Time Machine Tour is FAR superior to this one.
