  • OSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea - Between 4 and 10 November, the Republic of Korea (ROK) Air Force will host "Invincible Shield," the first ever combined air exercise with the US and the UK.
On November 4th, four Eurofighter Typhoons from Royal Air Force (RAF) No. 2 Squadron deployed to Osan Air Base in Korea after conducting exercises in Malaysia and Japan. C-17 Globemaster transport aircraft, Voyager tanker aircraft, and around 200 RAF personnel will also participate.
This exercise marks the ROK’s first domestic air combat maneuvering exercise with a foreign nation other than the United States. The plan for the exercise was first initiated with the purpose of enhancing the interoperability among the Air Forces from ROK, US, and UK and increase the ROK-UK defense and security cooperation. In particular, the UK emphasized that their participation demonstrates their continued commitment to the maintenance of the international rules-based system as a permanent member of the UN Security Council (of which the UK has been a member since its inception) and has no relation to the current security environment in the region.

does anyone know what's happened to VIRTUS? is it ditched? because I've seen recently the Rifles Regiments who got it are back to Osprey and MK7 or MK6A helmets

Desantos123 UK a lot of people actually thought it was in full service, it had a large trial which was partly to discover in quick time wether it was fit for service. It's currently being tweaked and adapted. That's all I know from the company who developed It.

From what I have read it needed some tweaks, so the guys that got it have had to send it all back.

A Small Acorn I honestly wouldn't want it.
The load carrying spine apparently limits the ability to get up from the prone position, the materials are American made and break easily, and the American style helmet is....well.... too American.

The helmet is actually the one off the good parts of the system. I was a Paramedic/Patrol medic in the Airforce and then Army. It's better balanced with night optics and more adaptable and comfortable, with a day sack anyway. Ive had to put up with some shocking kit in my time, spending over 10 years some £2700 of my own money to gear up. It's a work in progress and hopefully will evolve into something more dependable. When fighting in virtus it's recommended to decompress the DWD system to improve moving from the prone position. Quite frankly I don't care if the polycarbonates used come from a 3D printer in Dagestan, America or otherwise. But they should be fit for purpose.
