      Wait until she finds out her new possibly could be worst than her husband it’s not always greener on the other side she wanted to sleep with him when she saw him in the beginning comparing her husband to him her husband never stood a chance she wanted to sleep with her new lover what this movie never brings out is the consequences that comes out you don’t make decisions for she loses her self respect from everyone she has ever known that’s real what happens when the sex where’s off she should have gotten a divorce first

    Her wardrobe was exquisite and that dress to the dance performance Magnifique and Ooh la la

    • @georgiegingersnap867
      @georgiegingersnap867 9 місяців тому

      I agree. But I think you may mean "magnifica', and "oh la la la", if your want to say it in Italian. In English, "Ooh la la" translates to mean "Oh my! How sexy!" --which may be precisely what you meant; in French, "Ooh la la" simply means "Wow!" or "Gee-whiz!"; in Italian, it changes to "Oh la la la (la)!" and it means "Oh no!" Or "Oh crap!" Still, it's recognized as the same general expression in each language, just to add to the confusion. And none of this diminishes the loveliness of this film in the least!

    I think that Michael Murphy is terrific in this as Russell Burton! I think that he was ideally cast. The part fit him like a glove. He captured the cluelessness, banality, and emotional economy of the character with absolute ease. Not the first such achievement from Mr. Murphy, to be sure.

    Indiscretion of an American Wife (TV Movie 1998)
    One of Anne's best films. An American diplomat's wife meets an Italian vintner at an embassy soirée. He sees her as more than just her "husband's hostess". Her husband has been so focused on advancing his career that he has forgotten how to see her as a woman, which the Italian reminds her that she is. - IMDB

This movie is a perfect example of a loving woman putting her husbands needs first, living her life through him and his needs. If he's that bad divorce him don't cheat first be decent about it. I think the guys are predator and he wants sex. I wish they'd go 20 years ahead and see what happens. Maybe he's had three wives by then. How do you know. As far as I'm concerned she just got used. Indiscretion? It's infidelity and betrayal. What if she was unhealthy and couldn't have sex. With the guy still want her? I don't think so.

    Thank you for loading this movie. I just watched the 1953 version of this story with Jennifer Jones & Montgomery Clift. The 1953 movie was a victim of poor editing & bad reviews. Monty Cliff was def. miscast as an Italian. This is a far better fleshed out movie, although it would be good to at least give credit it is partly inspired by the Cesare Zavattini story b/c this movie lifts some dialogue straight from the movie.

    Indiscretion or cheating? Divorce first then play, whenever you get the feeling! Love can be temporary, trust is forever. Come back in 20 years and see if they have remained faithful and happy! Maybe she will meet a better looking Italian. Maybe a sculptor or a champion soccer player. She would definitely be tempted. Right? Cheating is never romantic to me. Breaking trust is is very serious.

      Sometimes we find ourselves in an abusive situation, only because we are overlooked and taken advantage of, all the while, believing we are fulfilling our duty to someone, who never appreciated us or our efforts. But then, someone comes along and being on the outside, it is very easy for them to see our predicament. Sometimes they have a better life to offer us, that we never even realized we needed, to make ourselves better.
      The warning goes out to those spouses, who treat their spouses like tissue paper.
      Or, those who cheat just to climb the proverbial ladder or get what they want, that will come back to haunt you.
      Remember, some people NEED RESCUING! They NEED LOVE.
      Keep judging others...that'll help ya!
      Again, Karmic Law...

    • @MrGazzara
      @MrGazzara Рік тому +1

      @@d.l.austin2379I agree. The temptations are everywhere all the time. It's up to trust not love. You don't know it's love until you've lived a long while with the other person. I look at him like a predator. He got what he wanted he knew what to do. Are some men who are good at it it's like an art. An average guy can't compete. I still say, divorce first and play all you like. That way you don't hurt someone so much. Maybe the new couple will go to Greece and she'll find a nice Greek boy and feel even more emotional. It'll never end. She said to her husband when they got married I love you did he say I love you did they express their love? Apparently the wife changed and the husband didn't. Therefore he needs to go. Divorce not cheat. C 3:01 heat and hide and be comforted by your girlfriend or your relative. I think it's disgusting. I think of the hurt person not only the satisfied ones. 2:30

    This is what love should be. Yes, marriage is a lifetime commitment. But that commitment must have meaning and hope. Without these, love fades and desire grows. This movie shows that true love is superior to lust and greed. When love and passion are unbridled, meaning and hope are sustained, and life begins anew. ❤

She's an exception, of course, but it's all going towards less formality. I figured she was pretty useless and you confirmed that. Recently her swimming with her son with her skinny body and all the wrinkles and saying she was swimming where her father had swum during WORLD WAR II was beyond ridiculous and very tasteless. Furthermore she dished with her son by extension on her uncle which was of course Bobby Kennedy jr.-- completely disgusting and in poor taste. Her mother would roll over in her grave if she could see her now.

    What a dismissive cad her husband is.....far too wrapped up in his career. The vows you take--- means you dont put anyone or anything before the needs, wants or desires of your partner....that includes a career, and status...
    No wonder she fell for Matteo who saw her for who she is. Her husband saw her for what she could give to him-- status and promotion...
    but Matteo is just as bad. Men are to be the leaders, above reproached & not give into their desires... lead us not into temptation.

    She's telling him she's unhappy, he had no time for her and he still went on about work and it was up to her if she came back, didn't even care. To think you'd feel sorry for him being cheated on but you could see why, it was all about him, she was right he didn't act like he loved her. Maybe she married him for money then got no love. If she marries the Italian and he has no money that might not last either

      My former mother-in-law fawned over the movies in which someone somehow “solves” their problems through infidelity.
      This was her own story, but unfortunately her experience only resulted in the man she involved with leaving her for someone else within a year, then leaving that woman for another. She did eventually find happiness, though settling on one person was hard. Sure someone can make you feel different but what happens to all your other relationships, especially your children?

    Very slow moving, so depending on how bored you are will determine if you stay with this one. Ann looks terrific - as usual :) Not sure there was really much chemistry between them but, I played along. Points noted were well taken, thoughtful.
    And I kept thinking > he needs a shave!!! :)
