At 65 I had almost forgotten the effects of domestic abuse. I watched my sister go through this and now see my niece and nephew very damaged. Being a witness to it many times I am damaged too. Plus mental abuse from my father. I am so thankful for a perfectly loving mother. May she rest in peace❤

Domestic violence doesn't only happen to "uneducated" women, sometimes it happens to the professional woman , she even maybe the breadwinner of the relationship!
Your comment about how your mother didn't teach you how to cook and about how she told you to get an education and not to depend on a man is like a slap in the face to anyone that has suffered domestic violence of any kind.
It's a lovely thing that you have never experienced domestic violence but as such it's something you seem to know nothing about, it would be best to keep your underhanded comments to yourself.

The authorities only found out because she ended up in the hospital, and even then, she denied it, WHEN SHE WAS BEING OFFERED THE EFFING HELP. Why the heck did she cover for him? How long did she plan on continuing like that... until she was neatly packed in a black bag?

The system is far from fair which is why women continue to suffer in silence 😢That excruciating pain that often leads to an unbearable depression…So many of us so afraid and embarrassed that we don’t even seek the medical attention we desperately need. And sadly womens rights are being taken away right before our eyes. Many think it's all about "pro choice." It's like they've forgotten that it wasn't long ago in America that a man's wife was viewed as his property. Not even in the 70s could a woman's finance be considered to purchase a property.
I don't know why women want us all to go back to these times. I wish those who want to would do it and leave the rest of us out of it.

I agree with you. Once a man starts to abuse you like this, he is not going to stop and it will only going to get worse. Staying with a man like this and having children only makes matters worse as they will suffer from depression and anxiety and other mental disorders. I found that calling the police and getting a restraining order does not really help. They will eventually find you and the sad part is that the victim usually dies. Our judicial system in America is too lenient when it comes to 'ABUSE'. They need to change the law and make sure the abusers receive an appropriate sentence, not Community Service, and also they desperately need counseling for Anger Management. Women should never be ashamed to speak up.

I couldn't watch this! My anger was boiling over ... It's absolutely terrifying and traumatic for young children to see their mother or father being beaten by the other parent, especially when it happens frequently. The stress, the paralyzing fear, the helplessness, the wishing desperately all the yelling and screaming would stop, the embarrassment of other people knowing what happens in their house, and the shame that comes with it. The ways in which children, and the parent, can carry this trauma and shame throughout their lives, such as repeating the cycle / pattern of abuse, or turning to toxic substances like drink, smoking and drugs to cope. It's awful! Much more needs to be done by the authorities and the system to protect the victims of domestic violence

And despite the reality of some progress the strong & overpowering anchor that holds back the true capacity for much needed progress, still exists. Overturning Roe vs Wade & now pending legislation to ban access to birth control are reflective of the strong undercurrents of what also leaves battered & abused women still very vulnerable... and the resources for help are dangerously challenged by rapidly escalating demand. Actually she couldve won custody if she was patient enough to collect evidence on his abuse towards the children. The school principal would have made an excellent witness to the sons rage and
Violence issues and how the dad ignored the schools complaints. Also visit to the doctors office for that black eye would have been super helpful as well....

No woman should ALLOW IT, instead they always prefer to be with their abuser, even when help is being offered, to the point they become their abuser's accomplice.

I had to stop the film as the music was so distractingly bad. Music should enhance a scene. This music seemed entirely random to a scene and poorly calibrated. Excruciating.

I hate the judge he protect the abuser not the victim. The Law need to change the man only has rights that not fair. It free country the women and children should have rights and should be protected.

I endured abuse for way too long. I was dragged by my hair, beaten, belittled, assaulted, and barely made it out alive. I tried to rationalize his behavior. I thought once he stopped drinking and using drugs that he would be the wonderful man I fell in love with. I waited way too long. He remarried someone just like him and now they abuse each other and that is their “normal”.
