In this trailer, we got a glimpse of a group of stalkers around a campfire, and gameplay elements including avoiding dangerous evnironmental traps and horrifying enemies. It's the sequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Heart of Chernobyl releases April 28, 2022.

Please please please don't let the character interactions just be "Wow, stalker, you're so good at everything! Here are a hundred rubles for your work clearly out that outpost. You're the hero we needed in the zone, and you've saved all our lives, just how the scripted event made you." Don't follow the Ubisoft "licking the players' toes" formula. I want to feel like a nobody in STALKER, like the originals. Not the hero or Jesus like in any other open-world game. Just another dude looking for money.

You will be sorely disappointed, I think. The later scenes of the unknown person talking to Skif suggests otherwise. This person, to me, seems like the ante-strelok: being "given the gift of life from the zone", he is "ready to die for it", but he does not seem like a brainwashed monolithian.
Undoubtedly, these words will be put to the test. The only character that I can imagine, the only character we know managed to go to the NCPP and return, the only person to ever get close enough to destroy it... Would be Strelok.
I'm afraid this will be a narrative driven game similar to Metro, but I doubt it will not have open world mechanics. I expect this game to take a clear detour from the old game mechanics, while making nods to it in the storyline.
Honestly, with the amount of mods we have, who is to say how inventory and combat will be handled? Take one look at ray of hope or dead air and you'll see what I mean, the system has been overhauled to the point where is shares almost nothing with the original system.
So I think GSC will bring us the Zone in higher quality than ever, but if you expect this to be SoC2, then I am afraid you will be disappointed.
Chernobyl is located not in Russia, you're ignorants! This is Ukrainian game and Ukrainian locations.

These pieces (and the entire literary heritage of Strugatsky brothers) made a huge impact on modern science fiction including the Metro series.

@@dqena no, is divided into sections which they are open world. for the most part is a linear game... the anomaly mod accomplished that and put the 3 games all together in a single map, which i feel is what the devs are going for this time

Так-то почти все вырезанные локации с тех или иных версий сталкера присутствуют, так же расширены старые и, судя по всему, локаций в привычном понимании больше не будет, потому что движок позволяет более цельный мир сделать

Я понимаю твою обиду, но имеется ввиду ИСТОРИЧЕСКИ. Так уж сложилось, что в 86-ом году, на карте не было Украины, была лишь Украинская АССР. Т.е. для иностранцев, фактически был только "Совет Юнион", что приравнивалось всегда к "Раше". + тут еще маркетинг работает. Про Украину во всем мире не все страны слышали (можешь по Африке поездить или Южной Америке, порасспрашивать), уверяю, практически никто не скажет, где это. А про ЭрЭфию знают все, даже жители какой-нибудь Папуа-Новой Гвинеи или Свазиленда.
Причем, видишь, тут такая штука... Чернобыль (точнее авария его) - это КОСЯК. Бооольшой мировой косяк! Все шишки летели именно на СССР, т.к. "она" была в этом виновата. Так что, справедливости ради, будет логично и в игре присвоить принадлежность к "Совку". Радуйся, иначе бы все обвиняли Украину в нарушении мировой экологии и выбросе вредных веществ и радиации, которые, как утверждает история, долетели аж до северо-европейских стран на много тысяч километров. Просто не парься, не бери в голову. Лучше гордиться за хорошие вещи, нежели плохие. И, да, я и не россиянин, и не украинец, я беларус, так что мне со стороны виднее :-D

Recently got into Roadside Picnic and Otherside Picnic. Been meaning to check out the STALKER series for awhile. Its so interesting how Roadside inspired basically a whole genre of horror/scifi with the Zone and stuff.
I remember I was super scared entering those psychic underground lab because of its silence and creepy ambience. I had to play pirated Power Metal album as BGM to finish the mission lol

Oh God just don't let it be like a Bethesda title with the main guy being a super stalker. SPOILER ALERT ! Iwant that authentic feeling that I'm worthless in the zone, just a a dot on the PDA of other stalkers like it's supposed to be. In every title the character we played didn't really play such a big role, even Strelok was just "The Marked One" before we found out that he's the ultimate Master stalker that has seen and done it all before. The star of the Stalker series was always the Zone, with it's mysteries and alien nature. Since it's the same studio that made the originals, I'm sure we won't be let down. We all know what troubles development cycle the original had so I'm expecting delays but as long as we get that authentic feel that was often imitated but never replicated I'm content with waiting. Till then, good hunting stalkers.

The bloodsucker was a let down. It does not look as scary as in the original games, also they attack you from behind and not head on. That is one of the things that makes them scary to encounter
yea.. alot of things in here are not that good looking. the bloodsucker and peoples clothes and faces etc. are too clean to be someone living in the zone. and their clothes are so simplistic... its like theyre just wearing shirts and thats it. they should have body armor. the old body armors were very detailed. but these guys are just wearing shirts...

most definitely just for show, it would be a bit redundant to have them showcase cover and tactical gameplay in this trailer. Each shot is a scene: lab scene, bandit scene, monolith scene, story scene. They couldn't have the shootouts draw too much screen time, it would break the pace for the other scenes.

let's hope that it's the usual lowest difficulty for trailers, using god modes and so on. That was exactly what I tought when we see him charge into that place full of enemies, we wouldn't last 3sec on the previous games with such a thing.
@@Neocoolzero in OG Stalker usually you sneak around, crawl through sewer pipe, sit and listen for noises and footsteps for 30 mins in some bush, maybe snipe one or two bandits and then retreat in panic while chased and flanked and then redo it all from different angle

2010: MC is some no name stalker, Strelok will'be killed by enemies
2011 concept: Strelok is the MC.
So when the dude asked if HE has suffered, I thought that maybe that dude was talking about Strelok.

Stalker was always like this. Unfortunately, for no Russian speakers, a lot of jokes can't be translated very well for give a lot of atmosphere and reading subtitles isn't the same

For those new, STALKER means *Scavenger-Trespasser-Adventure-Loner Killer-Explorer-Robber*
No, it comes from a Russian verb "stalkivatsya", which means "to come in contact with something dangerous for the first time", with the "er" suffix signifying a person. It's like "to experience" in English but specifically in a negative way. So, "a person who comes in contact with something dangerous for the first time." The Strugatski brothers coined the word by combining Stalkie, the hero of the novel by Rudyard Kipling that they loved, and the Russian verb which meaning they found fitting. They also paid tribute to Rudyard Kipling by naming the main protagonist of the Roadside Picnic Red. Rudyard - Red. it being on xbox, is a big warning sign.
But if they have to change a bunch of stuff to make it more accessible for xbox, it'll mess up stalker.
stalker kicks you in the teeth and makes you love it.
I must say i am so excited for this. It seems like developers drew inspiration from Escape From Tarkov and many previous Stalker mods, and all together looks so well 😁
Hope the 15 year wait will be worth it. And I hope there are plenty of the rpg elements like trading kept in the game, like the original. And they should have drivable vehicles like the alpha version of the original game had.
