Then he introduced it to his church, and he led a small group every morning there, and it changed his entire ministry. The power of the Spirit is there, and we seldom access it through intentional prayer!
That is awesome! It's definitely had an impact on me and it seems unfortunate that so many are unaware of this practice. I'd never heard of it myself until earlier this year.
I've carried this little book in my briefcase for about six months. It's hugely helpful-especially in the morning and when I'm on my lunch break and don't have time to pray the full Daily Office.
Thank you for the comprehensive review of this gem! I started looking into the Canonical Hours which led me to the Book of Hours, Breviary's, Book of Common Prayer, etc. and I feel like this prayer book is a wonderful starting point. Just ordered a copy, thank you and God bless!

So much to unpack here from your comments: . . . the need for discipline in prayer; the simplicity of prayer without the need to know a "Canticle" from a :Suffrage"; just PRAY on a daily basis!!. . that's what counts! It was very motivating to watch you go through it. This is very special for me as I do the Daily Office based on the BCP daily. I am fortunate to have a combination bible (the two yr. Liturgical cycle)/psalter/prayer book called "The Contemporary Office Book" (no longer in print) that allows me to pray/read Morning, Noon, Evening and Compline all in one book. . . It's a wonderful discipline that has added so much to my life. Hopefully, your review will set people on a similar course. Thanks, again.
Thank you Philip! I'm glad it was motivating, that was one of my goals with this video besides reviewing the book itself. Daily/Common prayer has really had a huge impact on my prayer life, and I think it's a shame it's not common in many Protestant churches. I feel very blessed to have stumbled into it. That sounds like a very nice book you have to do it from! I haven't used the more standard BCPs a lot myself, but I have prayed through the 1928 BCP a few times and I really love the language of it and using it with the KJV.

I purchased it used so I don't have a link, but it's a pretty standard 1979 BCP, similar to many others. Cover is synthetic and not very good quality. This particular one is published by The Church Hymnal Corporation in New York and has a very difficult to read ISBN but I think it's 0898691176. Hope that helps!

Very nice. If I wasn't already a devotee of the 1928 BCP I might be interested in that. I certainly can see its efficacy.
