a) The learner course is a proper module and the exam is like a proper exam. If you dont study the module you wont pass.
b) After clearing the driver test also, you are on probation. There is a green plate P and a red plate P and these plates have multiple restrictions.
c) Full licence is given after 2-3 years of driving
d) Even after getting a license there are demerit points. I thinks its 12 and with every infringement there is a hefty fine + minimum 3 demerit points.
We need something strict like this in India to curb the hapazard driving.

Other parents who had protested and got harassed, yet supported the victim....were left flummoxed 😂

First step should be the disclosure of assets of judiciary and then police and then politicians.

RTO is a joke in India...my lady friend took test for 4 wheeler and got license, her driving instructor asked her, "Madam, 2 wheeler ka license bhi kara lo". And the instructor himself took test on her behalf and RTO gave her license.

Please watch SC lawyer Mr DK Dube on the issue. There is provision in law to hold accountable the adults who were responsible for liquor consumption and access to the car. So father can be punished as per law. It will depend on the effectiveness of the prosecution

Agree that accidents happen everywhere, but the instances per capita are very less. There is at least a strict enforcement of law and cops most of the time behave the same regardless of who has done the crime.
Tragedy is we are still a banana republic where common tax paying citizen has no avenue to run to seek help. This won't be discussed in parliament, bcoz no one cares about these incidents, they are busy crying "Death of Democray".
Why would a common tax payer care about "Democracy" when no institution helps them. Has police, judiciary, executive, etc anytime helped a common citizen? This is result people get even after paying taxes and expecting just a bare minimum service.

I live in Pune and I’ve been going to that very area all my life, police do have their spots for checking but police are busy harassing couples and regular middle class people there I’ve never seen them stops expensive car it’s always the Maruti or a bike guy. The issue here is they’re making it all about “pub culture” in Pune instead of focusing on how the cops are letting certain places serve alcohol to minors and run till early morning.
Viman nagar is 1 of the epicenters of rich dad, entitled kid, alcohol binges, cops money making racket.
My sister stays in a rented apartment near viman nagar and the desperate need to show off among the "college kids" with their liberal western consumer culture lifestyle has to be seen to be believed.

you can go on and on about systems and larger collective norms, but at the end the helmet is the most primary self defense a two wheeler rider can have against a rampaging vehicle. And Pune has embraced a culture of refusing it.

Can the solution to all this be that the police should be under the center and not under the state government and there should be some such mechanism to tackle the misuse of power?
Like, the conduct of Police in different situations should come from a rule book and not from the whims of their seniors/bureaucrats/any political leader/any affluential person, or public/societal pressure.

Traffic police can easily impose fines with all technology at their disposal
Thirdly common civic sense is absent but can be corrected if traffic police act preemptively
It is scary to see, inspite of evidence of this accident, now available to entire nation, the police, in full public view is shielding the culprits! And the police doesn't even care. They are not afraid of the law or the nation! 😞.
As parents they are trying everything in their power to get their child saved and if they are wealthy, they will use all options available to them. Anyone would do that for their child. I have an issue with the lawyers who are guiding these parents and giving all the bad advise. The parents are doing all this on someone's advise, that being their lawyers. These very lawyers are spoiling the image of the judiciary system by constantly manipulating it. If the lawyers had advised the parents right, they would have gone with what is the right thing to do. In a situation like this which parent is thinking in their right mind beyond wanting to get their child out of prison.

The root cause is too much money in the hands of a few. When Modiji values even a single soul outside India, who have been brought back to India for various reasons, how on earth, when someone dies for no reason can be allowed to roam scot free...I am sure Modi ji shall pass the Judicial reform laws which would punish every such case...
@ Soheil: Under the amended section 199A of the motor vehicle act, 2019, the owner of the car can be imprisoned and fined if his car is driven by a Minor.
As always, Suhel Seth straight talking and hitting the nail where it hurts most. What is the use of the Commissioner being supposedly honest. As Suhel said, being honest is a given. We need honest and effective officers.
If he is a juvenile, he should not be driving that car without adult supervision, on that road, at that time and at that speed, and that too in an inebriated state. Both the parents should be punished with a minimum of five years imprisonment and this guy should be put imprisoned with hard labor. Cops and the juvenile board who themselves are acting like juveniles also need to be punished for letting him go scot- free. Either you are an adult and have authorization (not a privilege), that come with responsibilities.

Have you forgotten the case of Grand Son of Admiral Nanda... famous BMW rampage that killed a family.
It’s time speeding cameras were installed and sever fines and penalties inflected on these people. Not only would it be a great source of revenue but it would also encourage more responsible driving. Bad driver’s could incur points on their license which would eventually lead to a disqualification for driving.
As for under age driver’s the parent’s should also face conviction in a court of law.
Parents can be fined up to 25k and imprisonment up to 3 years. And they can be arrested for not cooperating with police and other agencies.
Don't blame the police, the judiciary needs reform
Why not the family adopt /look after the deceased dependants as like in movie " Dushman ", let the court put the welfare measures on shoulder of the culprits
