Thank u. Pag disconnected n ung mismong magnetron tube sa filament terminals nachecheck nman na wala na shorted. Medyo mabusisi lang magpalit ng filament terminal pero I think worth it nman than to buy a new magnetron. Make sure lng cguro n maayos ang gawa para wag mag karoon ng arcing. Heavy varnish on laminations is a insulator on transformer! Base where it is bolted to chassis would be better to show up shorts between coils and laminations!

Thanks for this very informative post. I checked all HV components on my Sharp R89ST, to find them ok, but found the HV diode had gone down taking the HV fuse too. The only other thing was the HV capacitor discharge resistor had failed. But this is not a requirement to run.? My microwave now runs in all functions but does not heat the food despite the case above the magnetron getting warm. Any ideas where to look more deeply next. Cheers.

If mark value of capacitor is one microfarad and measured value by a DMM is .87 microfarad. Then capacitor is ok or not. Waiting for your kind reply

No need to take it out, just disconnect the wire connections of the transformer and check.

Very informative! What should be the normal capacitance for microwave HV diode? I replaced the original HVR-1X 3 with CL04-12 HV diode, now the microwave is heating the food. I set the digital multimeter to 200M, the original HVR-1X 3 reads 7.5 and the new CL04-12 reads 17.

I performed the test on the magnetron and the results would suggest that it is fine. I notice NO crack in the magnets either. I have a Panasonic Prestige 1300W inverter microwave oven. The issue was that it would chip the breaker after 2-3 secs. The switches tested fine. If I disconnect the magnetron from the inverter board microwave does not chip out. Once I connect it the issue occurs again. Any insight?

Hi great video - tested my transformer -
on hi voltage winding I am getting 82.6 it’s a zebra 100TT in 120V & 60 hz -
On other side getting .4 not .5 to 1 1/2
It’s a Viking microwave with oven -
Microwave works just no heat up food - the sound is a lot less then before as well - change Magnatron - changed Diode and high voltage capacitor and all switches - do you think it’s the transformer ? With those readings above that’s bad ? Thank you !! Michael
