I am a senior in highschool and I have always wanted to be a veterinarian! I thought last year that vet school was going to kill me and there was no way I could do it. But I got my act together and I am currently working on getting hours. I know you need a ton! I love how passionate you are about your profession! You always have a smile on your face! It really inspires me, please continue to make videos! You really help prepare me with what I should expect and what I need to do!
I’m 14 and I want to be an equine veterinarian someday. :) I’m not experienced with horses (like, at all) so I have been studying the equine anatomy a lot lately. I have trouble grasping hold of the different muscles in a horse, but the parts of the horse’s skeleton is easy for me to understand.
I am a freshman in high school and my dream is to be a vet! I adore animals and this video gave me modification to work super duper hard so I can reach that goal!
Amanda you are so awesome! These videos have me pumped for my vet school application next fall. Thank you so much for all your advice and being so thorough in your videos.
Your channel is growing so fast, hope to be the same; I wanna be an equine vet ahaha so I double clicked on that like button :)) more seriously, nice video Amanda, keep it up
Hey Amanda! Ive been watching your videos for quite some time now, Im JUST starting my journey in becoming a vet, First year college student! As ive been watching your videos, ive noticed that most of your time is dedicated to school... is there time for a job while in Vet school?
I think it really is personal preference! I count youtube as a part time job, and it's really about making time for it! However, I do have a lot of flexibility since it's my own business. I know some people have jobs throughout vet school, but I would say the majority don't just because it's a really demanding program! Hope this helps 😊
Love watching your vids! Currently a pre-vet student! I wanted to ask how exactly you study though? You mentioned making those one page study guides for finals. But how do you know all the small details for your midterms? I guess I wonder how you actually take the time to learn and take in all the material in vet school. Thanks!!!
So it really depends on the class! For principals of disease, which is the course I was studying for in the video, I actually just went through all my slides and read them over a couple times. Once I did that I went to each lab that was associated with the lecture. Our prof structured the course so our labs were class examples highlighting the concepts of each lecture. After I had read over my notes I went back and did the labs on my own to make sure I understood the concepts! Sorry if that wasn’t super helpful, I have another video on my channel talking about how I studied for anatomy and physiology that might help more :)
@@yourvetamanda I would love to see a video on how you studied for each of your classes because just one method doesn't always work for all of them! I love your videos so much!
I have a video on my channel explaining how I studied for anatomy, physiology and clinical medicine! But I’m planning on filming and updated video for some of the classes I’m taking this year!
@@yourvetamanda I would love a video like that as well! I used to make outlines in word to understand the material and then make flash cards in Anki. But it’s taking me SO much time. I recently started using RemNote which turns my notes into flash cards to kind of cut out a step. But I don’t know if flash cards is always the best way to learn, you mentioned going thru & reading a couple times but information never sticks in my head that way unfortunately. In the moment I’m like oh yeah I understand that, then comes test time and I’m like uhhh lol
It all depends on what you're interested in! I personally want to go into small animal just based on what a typical day would look like and what I'm interested in but that may not be the same for everyone!
For as long as I can remember I always wanted to be a vet. I honestly don’t removed if there was something that triggered it because it feels like that’s all I ever told people that I wanted to do when I was growing up! So that’s all I looked into when I was going through my schooling! I never had a plan B really :)
being a vet is probably not a great idea for me money wise because I want my own horse so badly but vet school and college is expensive and i'll barely be able to support myself for a while but hey, i'm determined!
The way I like to think about it is even though I'm going to have student debt, it's good debt because you're investing in yourself and in your future! 😊
You could definitely study for every hour for 24 hours if you wanted to with the amount of content you're given. However, I think it's super important to have a work life balance and I personally make time to enjoy other other hobbies and do things for myself!
@@yourvetamanda thank you! your study guides are beautiful and has inspired me to make similar ones for my upcoming microbiology and pathology exams (:
Hey, you're doing really great, very inspiring! ❤️ Can you please tell me how you made those study guides? I have been writing my notes on pages but these seem really effective, please tell me, it could be very helpful for me
Thanks so much!! I make my study guides by going back through my lecture notes and writing down the important concepts and summarizing them in a way I'll understand. I try to keep my study guides between 1 and 2 pages to make sure I'm only writing the important things! I also use Goodnotes on my iPad but you could do the same on paper! Hope that helps 😊
My horse has a weird skin problem on her chest. I have looked it up and I can not find anything similar on the internet. It doesn’t bother her and I am pretty sure she has had it ever since we got her about a year ago. can I DM you a picture of it or something Thanks
Not too sure what you mean by vet diploma vs degree - I only have experience applying to OVC so it may be different elsewhere but here we have to complete at least 3 years of an undergraduate degree before we can apply to vet school which is 4 years! Hope this helps :)
I'm really hoping to become a vet when I'm older, specifically an equine vet, but I'm worried I won't have time to own animals such as a dog, horse, rabbit etc.

Do you recommend becoming a live stock vet or small animal vet?
It all depends on what you're interested in! I personally want to go into small animal just based on what a typical day would look like and what I'm interested in but that may not be the same for everyone!
Hey, if by any chance you have a physical examination class on small animals ( especially bunnies ), could you make a video on thay too ?? 😀
I’m not sure if we have any bunny lectures but if we do I’ll be sure to film it! Thanks for watching!
