I’m from Casper and yeah the entire fuckin place is cursed. I’m not even joking, every single person has had AT LEAST one weird, scary, completely unexplainable experience. Especially on the mountain and by the river. I swear to god that entire city is just under one big nasty curse.

I visited the Wendy's in Casper once, it was good but I was disappointed that the sweet tea had no sugar. I think someone might have switched the sweet tea with the regular tea. No big deal but I worry about the diabetics getting the wrong tea.
Mmm. That goth city smells gewd
The Wendy’s used to be great there! Very patient, very understanding.
The sweet tea is never very sweet though...but the lobby was always clean. There used to be a homeless man who hung out in the lobby eating apples and he did a trick with the ice machine but folks didn't like the way he looked at their NOT OF-AGE daughters...I think they ran him outta town.
Yeah the Wendys in Casper sucks since they fired the lobby attendant. Such a chipper fellow.

B.S. Born and raised in Casper,
1.have never seen Elk in Casper, unless it was dead in the back of a pick up during hunting season. There is a small elk herd on muddy Mountain just south of Casper Mountain, I have never seen them wander into town.
2. It's easier to count the days the wind doesn't blow. We're talking about 15 to 25 mile an hour wind average, gusting anywhere from thirty-five to 65 miles an hour.
3. Employment opportunities are pretty scarce unless the oil industry is doing well.
I live in a chair in Casper that this messy but good smelling goth guy got after giving his parents dog weed. Drops all sorts of food on it so me and the other chair bugs eat good twu
I'm not from Casper but I've heard it has a thriving art scene including theatre troupe's and handmade crafts from local artisans. Those are pros in my book.

I would absolutely have to disagree with you there. I studied the arts at the college there and I can say that you’re hard pressed to find a diverse music or art scene there. If you’re not enrolled in the college, you’re not performing. The shows that the college does put on are fantastic, but that’s about the extent you’ll get. Wyoming focuses a lot of state resources on education.

Well it seems like a nice place... but I've heared you guys got a bit of a Swamp Boglin infestation going on... if you don't know what Swamp Boglins are, they are very easily recognized by how they look and act.
For generations Swamp Boglins have actually dressed up in all black attire, they usually wear filthy leather hats or bandana's to cover their genetic predisposition for baldness, you can most often find them partaking in one of their oldest customs: drinking everclear until they vomit all over themselves and boiling eggs for 7 hours straight, their passtimes usually consist of gathering sticks and cigarette buds, the sticks they use to make their iconic Swamp Boglin Magic Wands, which have the power to conjure thunderstorms and change traffic lights, often you'll see them roam outside practicing their Boglin Magic by pointing their wands at numerous lights at intersections.
Although usually Swamp Boglins smell absolutely rancid, there are some who have found ways around this, the usual methods are:
Sleeping in a pile of vomit
Using tactical soap by rubbing it on their clothing
Never showering
When a boglin choses a mate, it is very important the criteria are met:
Of Age
Alive
Cisgendered
Consenting
Smoking Hot
Goth or any other type of alternative subgenre
I hope this information can help the state of Wyoming crack down on the ever rising Boglin epidemic that is unfolding in and around Casper.

Dating in any place is Wyoming is challenging, in a mostly negative way. Locals get married early in life as soon their 20s. Meeting people romantically is tough because the locals are very cliquey and seem to only date other locals not outsiders.

I do think you get use to the wind...but it can be exhausting at times!
As a former Casper resident, you are pretty spot on with everything, except the time to get to Denver. With the traffic which starts 30 miles north of Denver, I have never done it in 4 hours.

Lived in Wyoming my whole life, just went to downtown Casper for the first time by accident because
Did you like Casper better than your hometown?
I wouldn't mind loving here
I grew up and spent most of my life in Casper and never once saw Elk roaming in or around town. Unless someone has introduced elk to Casper Mountain, you'll have to drive to Yellowstone or Jackson Hole to see elk. In and around Casper, you'll see deer and antelope and rabbits, horny toads & snakes, and sage brush & cactus. And the wind always blows. It's often like a hurricane every day, which has been attributed to the high suicide rate. They say that if the wind ever stops blowing, everyone would fall on their faces. And the old saying goes, the wind doesn't blow in Wyoming, but Nebraska sucks...
If you like 10+ months of Winter and 2 weeks of Summer, you might like living in Casper. I've seen it snow in July and August. To keep my driveway clear so that I could drive to work, I often was out shoveling at 2AM just to attempt to stay ahead of it. Then the wind can come up and blow all the snow back over what you had shoveled and you have to start all over. The front of my house would disappear under the snow every single winter. My last electric bill was over $500 and I was still cold all the time. My house had electric heating...
I don't miss the cold, snow, and wind at all. I moved to Florida to trade endless Winter with endless Summer, my favorite time of the year. And I can swim with Flipper every day...
I live off Cole creek and a few weeks ago watched elk run across Geary Dome road! It was amazing.
Things must have changed. I lived there for 4 years and never saw an elk or turkey anywhere near Casper. Did feed deer at the base of Casper mtn. Learned to fly there. If you can fly in the wind in Casper, you can fly anywhere! I owned a 4 level home on the west side of town. It literally shook in the winter due to wind. Its Horrendous!! Anywhere east of the mountains sucks.
@@alishacollinsrealestate Do you know when Elk first began appearing in that area? They weren't there during the 35 years I lived there, so it sounds like someone has introduced them to the region. I'm guessing that a local rancher is raising elk on his property...

That rack is Casper's greatest treasure..
I like Casper. I wouldn't want it to be busy. Good place to raise a family.
Or a boglem
The truckstops are the best place to eat with the truck drivers passing through keeping it busy
I live in ellensburg wa and the wind is no big deal. 1.keeps the bugs out of your face,2.cools you off,3you can fly a kite in it, it’s pretty when the wind blows through the trees.
That'd be a change of pace from the coastal cities.
Moved to Casper from Utah. I'll miss Utah but the scenery of Wyoming is just as, if not more beautiful in some places. I love the culture. I was able to quickly find a job that paid the same as my old one in Utah and the housing cost is only a 3rd of Utah right now(too many people from California are moving to Utah). Casper is about 55,000 and with all the surrounding towns extremely close by it's about 63,000-65,000ish. The homes are beautiful as well. I was surprised by how many beautiful big homes were in Casper. I almost don't want to tell people back in Utah why I moved because last thing I want for Casper is the same thing that is happening to places like Saratoga Springs or American Fork, Utah. In just 5 years the prices have almost tripled and I don't think it will slow down anytime soon unfortunately.
Thanks for the info. Older man here, from WA, then NYC, then WA again. Looking for a place to move (Washington State is unlivable anymore for anyone reasonable) and I always loved Wyoming. Did some research and Casper seemed to tick all the boxes. Has everything I need. Thanks again for the first person account!
I’ve been thinking of moving to Casper, (also from Utah) & now that you mention the housing it seems more realistic. Housing among other things are getting way out of hand here lately, real unfortunate.

..and the one thing she didn't mention, the heat. Wyoming is a very different climate from the Midwest.so be aware of that. During a hot sunny day, you're not going to feel the humidity. It will be like a "dry heat." So be prepared if you're going to be out on a sunny day and wear sun protection. Or you could walk away with a nasty sunburn and you won't feel It right away, but you'll wonder why your skin got so red from being outside in the sun for any length of time.
How is the employment out there? What are the big career moves for a city/town like Casper? I've spent the majority of my working career in the agchem/fertilizer business managing a warehouse that dealt with a lot of people from employees, farmers, and regulatory agencies and just wondering if it would translate to that kind of area for a liveable/reasonable wage for the area (granted a lot of the skills would translate regardless of the particular business I would imagine). At 35 I really want to settle in a place for a career and well, VA just isn't it for me anymore I think....lots of I guess I'd say personality coming from other states has just changed the feel and I'm sick of the humidity so wind to me is great!
I would love to relocate to Wyoming but am concerned about the stark difference in climate from Southeast Texas. Snow/wind would be a big adjustment, but the scenery there is so beautiful, and the relatively low cost of living, it's tempting! I've seen my share of hurricanes and border entry issues I'm ready for a change.

I work remotely for my company and am sort of getting out-priced for apartments in Missoula, MT ($1700 for a 1-bedroom). I have been considering a move to either Billings, MT or Casper, and am wondering about some things related to the culture: do you think it could be easy for a mid 30's single guy to make friends in the city? How open are the people generally to outsiders? I have lived in a city of 6,000 before so I understand small towns but Casper is obviously a bit bigger than this, I know this is a subjective question but as someone who has lived there, I am curious about your experience and opinions. Also, I am assuming median home prices are quite a lot cheaper than the national average so with $1500 a month to spend on rent, I'm sure I could probably get a mortgage a lot more easily? Thanks in advance.

Haha! The good thing about wind is it blows out any impurities in the air! (and blows away the snow too)
I'm planning on retiring to Casper in a couple more years. With reference to the last part about the weather, the wind... Try living in southeastern Virginia. Summers here are _pure_ misery. High temperatures are about the same, but it's humid as hell. Nights are _no_ relief whatsoever. The temperature drops from the nineties into the mid seventies, _and you are _*_just_*_ as hot as at midday._ It's that damn humidity again. It's so bloody muggy, and there's usually _no_ breeze whatever at night, just dead still, muggy air, so that even at seventy-five degrees, the sweat can't evaporate off your skin, you can't shed heat, and you're just as miserable as you are during the day when the hot sun is beating down on you.
I _hate_ summers here. I won't complain about the wind one bit.
Does Casper ever experience smog/inversions or is the wind constant enough to prevent them?
Casper, and Wyoming as a whole has some of the cleanest air in North America. Very little pollution whatsoever in Wyoming air or otherwise for that matter and for many reasons, all of which are positive in my book. However I think the secluded nature, it’s physical location and low population has more to do with the quality clean air than the often windy conditions in Wyoming.
The only haze you'll experience is the Boglin Warlock partaking in his wizard weed
