    "A woman cannot do a man's work for him. (...) When you're dealing with a man who is not willing to do his work, who is not willing to lead and love, not even open to what you're trying to do to bring love out of him, the biggest thing you can do is leave. Why? Because the pain of your absence is sometimes the only thing that can convince him to change."
    As a woman on a journey to understand myself better and understand the mistakes I've made in past relationships, I think it's great that men are sharing their perspective and their struggles. Seeing yourself as intrinsically whole and 'enough', love versus lust, how to know if a man values you as an individual and how to connect with him on a deeper level - very insightful interview!

    As women, we must stop blaming men for all of our decisions - we must step back and take a critical and honest look at the choices that we make and stop giving all of our power over to men. Yes some men are completely jacked up in their thinking; however, through our experiences as women - it is no longer a man's fault if we keep choosing the same person with a different name hoping that he would be better and we have not actually done our work as it relates to choosing these guys. This book incorporates tools for women to also know what and what not to do and if you are a woman who doesn't want pure intimacy from a relationship then do whatever you want; however, for those who want more this book will help you to answer those important questions as to why you keep choosing the same type of men and blaming them from not being mature enough to be with you when in fact we are constantly choosing them.

    • @CandaceLeAnne
      @CandaceLeAnne 5 років тому +13

      Denise Clarke I don’t think we’re choosing these men. I think we’re not telling them to take a hike when they show us that they think garbage thoughts and they don’t value us. We buy into social myths and lies that pressure us to date down if we don’t want to be single for a decade. We buy into men’s manipulations that make us feel like we can somehow help them do the work that only they can do on themselves. We learn to be too endearing and to give men far too much credit because we need and want their love. But let’s get one thing straight: even with all that said, if someone comes into our life and hurts us they are responsible for the damage they cause. Part of letting men off the hook is taking full responsibility for the chaos and calamity their immaturity and lack of self control causes, simply by saying “you chose him.” Let’s encourage one another to develop quality standards yes, but let’s also help each other to call men out for their stuff boldly and unashamed.

    DeVon Franklin has an honesty about his life which makes one think about his/her trueness. I like how he speaks about his experiences as a constant work in process and that he encourages a woman to not sub standard herself but to give her man that availability to grow and if he’s not willing to reflect and mature, well then move on. I like too how he expressed his openness to communication with groups but was so sincere that within the softness and tenderness of the quiet moments that’s where his communication skills were challenged. He explain how he wished he was more on his business, he's broke now, none of his kids will come around him, his health is bad and he's seeing someone he's not attractive too, just to get help and not be alone. He wish he could take it all back. Sadness story I ever heard.
