At UFC 287, Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya will battle for a 2nd time? or maybe a 4th. The ultimate chance for Adesanya to exact his revenge. In the co-main event, Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns are on to put another show and hopefully, by the end of night, claim another title shot.

Its crazy, 3 victories yet still the underdog. this rivalry is something very special
He’s been clearly losing but pulls it out of the fire at the end. First fight was a robbery, second fight they gave Periera an extra 3 seconds to recover from Izzy TKO ing him, not allowed, and third fight adesanyas knee blew out and nerve, what a shame for Izzy, hopefully he can get it done finally this time.

You gotta respect Izzy, all the semantics aside he's a true fighter. Never backed down from a challenge, stayed active and is still looking to try and beat a guy that he's 0-3 against.

hes a good fighter but a bit over rated. IMO izzy lost to whittaker in the rematch, didnt engage Yoel after he got countered once and just poked with kicks to score points on rounds, and the costa fight was a good performance but costa also kinda just stood there like Yoel did. nothing against izzy on those fights because he did finish Costa but Yoel and costa also kinda just handed him the victory by not really engaging until it was too late to do anything.

Pereira was the one bringing up the KO when Izzy was champ. He was responding to Alex. He came at him at least twice I believe. Izzy brings it up in that interview when he talks about how Alex is gonna be in the bar. Alex started the talk

@@dammaguy1286 Nah Burns. Masvidak is all hype who has he beaten in the top 5...... His entire career? Lost to Usman 2 times, lost to Colby, lost to Wonderboy, lost Maia. I think Till was the only guy hes beaten in the top 5 and he was losing that fight till the knockout. He of course has the punchers chance but hes not nearly as good as people hype him up to be. 3-5 in his last 8 and hes beat guys past their prime and not at the top of the division. Askren, Nate, and Till. He will lose to Burns.
@@John333Scout colby has only beaten washed champions on their way out of the sport and hasnt fought anyone in the top 5, also lost to usman twice, and his only finish in recent time is a random broken rib from Woodley on a takedown which was just that, random. prior to that his last finish was in like 2016, dude just grinds people out and doesnt do shit, his ground and pound is mids, hes not dismantling people or anything.
masvidals striking is objectively top tier and not many people can stand with him without taking something nasty, wonderboy is the same way. its extremely rare someone can just smoke those guys on the feet
@@stealthyturtles Ok.... Not sure how this came to be about Colby, but who won that fight when Colby and Masvidal fought? I forget. Also both Colby Usman fights were razor thin and you could not say that about either Masvidal Usman fights. Colby also beat Maia, dos Anjos, and Lawler when they were all in the top 5 of the division. He also beat Woodley yes when Woodley was washed but that isnt his fault like it also isnt Burns fault when he did the same to Woodley. Colby is 6-2 in his last 8 which is better than Masvidals 3-5 like what are you even talking about.
I would add that Colby sure hasn't been beating guys at the top of the division in recent and needs to be more active, neither has Masvidal btw. I'm really am not sure why we are even talking about him. He has nothing to do with Masvidal vs Burns nor Masvidal being the most overrated hyped person off two good knockouts.
I’ve been saying this same thing. I slightly favor Burns but I don’t think it’ll be easy for him at all and could see Masvidal pulling off the upset.

I got gilbert burns, and Pereira winning. With gilbert burns because while Jorge's striking may be better Gilbert bridges the gap with power, and if it goes to the ground Jorge will probably get tapped.
With Adesanya vs Pereira I think unless Izzy has a major strategy change he's gonna get caught with some nasty shots, though maybe Adesanya stays out of the way when he's done enough but Pereira can corner opponents against the cage very well. Overall I'm very excited this might be the best card this year.
The problem with your burns take is Jorge take down defence is top tier . He didn't tap against Usman or Colby who are better than burns .Jorge has the bigger advantage burns has athletics going for him

Burns isn’t a pure wrestler so his takedowns won’t work against high level wrestlers like Usman but we don’t know how Burns vs Colby will play out because Burns has more knockout power than Usman and Colby’s chin can get tested. Burns vs Jorge will either be a striking match that doesn’t go anywhere if Burns can’t takedown Masvidal but if Burns takes Masvidal down it’s a wrap.

@@juancena8329 This isn’t prime Masvidal anymore, he’s ageing and he recently got knocked out by Usman and rag-dolled By Colby. On top of this, Masvidal’s cardio is a mess right now because he slacked off on his diet eating pizza and drinking alcohol. All that body abuse catches up man and you can see his reactions on the feet have slowed down so I see Burns finishing him on the ground if he takes Masvidal down.

As hilarious as that'd be, a lot of the conversation makes it out like Pereira's entire career and decision to go into MMA completely revolves around Adesanya, and that's just not the case. He had dabbled in MMA long before he fought Izzy, and making the transition now just made a ton of sense.

This card, at least the main event is hard to choose from. Gilbert is the favorite but he's been finished with jabs/crosses; Hooker dropped him with a cross, Usman dropped him with a jab, Khamzat dropped him with a jab. I believe he's more well-rounded but he's weak to boxers with great jabs and Masvidal is a great striker/boxer. Usman even said Masvidal is hard to take down and Damian Maia said Masvidal has great JiuJitsu; at least defensively. Maybe if Gilbert plays it like Thompson he can get the victory. Who knows, but It's definitely an exciting fight, and I can't wait to see it.

Getting KO’ed by the same guy you almost beat must be very frustrating for Adesanya. I just don’t see it going his way again because Alex is a real warrior. He’s like a mercenary ready to kill. And wrestling isn’t his forte but don’t think his camp isn’t working on that already.
I think the Gilbert/Jorge fight will go how Gilbert’s fight with wonder boy went, a back and forth first round then Burns will look to wrestle from the 2nd to the end of the fight
Disagree, Jorge is great at both wrestling and jiu-jitsu defense. Remember this is someone that Maia couldn't submit. I actually believe he fucked himself in that fight because he chose to engage in grappling exchanges, when he could have separated and went back to striking.
People said the belt is gonna give confidence to Edwards… same works for Pereira, he’s gonna come in even more confident this time and could go for the ko earlier.
Last time every time Izzy would get hit he would clinch, in the last round you can see he’s going for the clinch but Alex shrugs him off his shoulders and keeps hitting

Notice Alex hasn’t shown any grappling in his lead up footage? One of the greatest LH grapplers in history just retired &trained him full time. He’s a naturally monstrous of a man when he steps in the ring. The amount of grappling gain Alex could have garnered in the interim of their last Izzy’s defensive grappling is a wide chasm. Imagine all that power isolated on top position. I truly think this will be a significantly different fight. Ppl made fun of Alex’s lack of grappling skills not realizing how lethal he is with even a small gain. Especially against a guy who isn’t known for his grappling. I made some cash betting on Alex to win the title strictly due to his power but if they make it a stand up affair, ironically this time I think Izzy wins. Alex was able to cut off the ring with gas tanks depleted. Ppl think he can just charge in and overpower Izzy. Not gonna happen. He will after some mistakes but Izzy is a more technical fighter. If Alex wants to get out to sleep he can charge jn but it literally took all 5 rounds to find an opening. His patience paid off. If he wants to do that again, a motivated, angry Izzy won’t be as cautious and the shots will tag alex sooner and with more bad intentions. Imo the key will be to replicate that round 5 dynamic but without having to risk trading for 5 rounds. Only way to do that is to tire out Izzy who has a tremendous gas tank. That’s where grappling comes in. If he gets top position proactively with more than 15 seconds prior to the bell like last time, his threat is enormous not just bc of what I presume will be vastly more dynamic ground & pound but also his enormous size resting on Izzy zapping his legs. All the whole Alex can pick up rounds - likely a majority of round 2. I foresee a late round stoppage from absolutely vicious ground & pound from Alex after dropping Izzy whose incredible chin will keep him awake but just barely.
Alternative scenario if Alex can’t get close, he’ll get frantic and Izzy’s surgeon precise strikes will capitalize on one too many mistakes with Alex obsessing over getting the takedown but Izzy stuffing. I could see a round 4 walk off KO from Izzy.
If we get the embedded series and Alex is with glover in grappling sessions, I’m gonna get the house on the champ to defend. But if he gives the rare comment about knocking him out again, I’d have to go against my better judgement and go Izzy. Thanks for making the video and making us think about the fight! that was fun to work out in writing haha
