An absolute Poirier Fan but wouldn't mind seeing Gaethje getting his hand raised if that leads to a trilogy. No doubt it would be the most violent Trilogy in MMA History.
There will be no trilogy. Its been stated by both of them. They're also getting old. So this will be the last time they match against each other.
Gatchje got the dub and I see no reason for a rematch because Gatchje is clearly the better fighter
Poirier vs Gaethje 2 is kinda scary in some aspects. We may see something like Lawler vs MacDonald. A career ending fight for either or both of them?

I don't expect it to be a war, it will be a very fun fight. but much more technical this time, we probably will see a flash flurry towards the later rounds leading to a finish
I was so sad when Jiri got hurt and vacated the belt. I wanted to see his reign and see him compete against the best. Then I was super devastated for Jamahal hill vacating. It’s really tragic but I hope they both come back healthy soon. 2 absolute killers.
I think one HUGE aspect of this fight that’s being overlooked is the altitude which their fighting at in Utah. And I’m pretty sure Justin lives and trains in Denver
I’m not very familiar with American landscape knowledge, what’s the difference between the two places?
@@48Mei Denver is a much higher elevation than Lafayette, where Poirier trains. Last card in Salt Lake everyone gassed out due to the altitude, so Gaethje may have better stamina due to training more at elevation.

@@48Mei not rlly the differences that’s important, More so the similarities. They’re both very high in elevation but I think where Justin trains in Denver is higher. So just off that alone Justin has a pretty big advantage over Porier because he’s training out of Florida which has basically no elevation
i work at the delta center and i’m so blessed to have UFC 278 and 291 back to back years. this should be amazing. the belt is corny but nobody takes it serious

This main event hurts me so much. These 2 are my 2 favourites in the ufc atm and i just want them both to have runs with the title.
Tony Ferguson is now a prelim fighter. He’s fallen. By name he’ll probably be on the main card but physically he’s done. I saw enough in the Diaz fight. He looked scared to get hit and scared to throw punches. It’s bad and I think it’ll get worse.. and that makes me depressed.

Yeah he used his superior wrestling to disrupt Izzy's flow and create openings

Yeah but in round 3 Izzy slowly started to understand and got better
It is the only round that Izzy won in my opinion
And at that point Jan started grappling
3 Takedowns, 7 min control time ... He is kinda right i guess
@@theBoarSkinnerJan didn’t shoot a takedown until the 4th round, he fought Izzy on the feet for three rounds and largely shut Izzy’s biggest weapon down…the leg kick. Jan is very good on the feet, and Izzy was obviously afraid of the Legendary Polish Power.
Justin's new style is dangerous 😳. When he won against Fiziev i was like ohhh ok. Dustin though I will never sleep on and his style is an absolute pleasure to watch. Gonna be a banger fellas, im already getting a chub.

On paper this looks like possibly one of the greatest cards ever, but I'm worried it might end up being a dud because of the fact that it's at altitude in salt lake city and almost every fighter might just gas out hard. 😂😂😂 That'd be extremely disappointing though smh

It’s crazy how similar Dustin and Justin’s career are..since they fought they both were interim champions..they lost the interim belt to the same fighter in Khabib by submission…then in their second title run they both lost to Oliveira by submission

First Justin vs Dustin fight wasn't even on strikes. Justin was still in the Homer period of his career when he was just pressing and not defending shots, just eating them. I remember Dustin boxed his ears that night but since Justin changed so i think it's gonna be different but i'm still leaning towards Poirier to win.

I think DP is just a superior striker and it isn't even that close. Accurate and measured. Gaethje is just an animal, and as such, always has a chance, but I don't think they are actually all that close on a literal skill level.

Gaethje gets the win this time around. This flight is in Utah with high elevation. Gaethje trains in Colorado while Dustin trains at sea level. Dustin has been out there for a few weeks to acclimate, but that didn’t help Luke Rockhold against Costa. Gaethje has grown and evolved more than Poirier, and I think he’s too much for Dustin to handle.
