Big Ken here are the world wars in real order The seven year war -1756-1762 The Great War-1914- 1918 The third Great War -1939-1945 I call them the wars these names because people get it wrong
The name "French and Indian War" sounds a bit like it was the French verses the Amerindians; each of those two groups going after eachother in a dukeout of sorts. That's another reason why it is a relatively poor name, but "Seven Years War" is even more completely inept, same with the rest of the old world names for this conflict.
England? By 1707 the Act of Union had been passed and the Scottish King James VI had been made king of England and Scotland some time previous (1603). It was Britain, not England. Why does that matter? Well, the British army was always heavily manned with Scots, and often Irish people. Without the English content at seeing Scots killed for the glory of Britain in somewhat larger numbers (proportionally) in the lower ranks (somewhat most probably), Britain would have fared rather less well. Why does the distinction matter to Scots? Well the Scottish people were in the streets protesting the Act of Union. It did NOT have the popular vote. Remind you of anything? Instead, the Scottish nobles, who were the only ones who actually empowered to make it law, were bribed with lands in England and massive wealth, to cede Scotland to the Union. The popular vote was overridden, by bribery. Sir John Clerk, may God rot him merrily, was the major proponent and benefactor from this hateful act. "Such a parcel of rogues as would sell a nation." Look that one up too. So, please, as we died fighting Britain's wars, can we remember it was NOT England, it is not now England. It's Britain. I don't particularly like that it's Britain, but to term us all 'English' is a huge disrespect to the other peoples of Britain, and to history.
Dear Mr Khan, Its always magnificent to see the pride and best practice principles you apply to your presentations - magnificent!!! I think I noticed copy-cat english writings translated from meetings of other readings of maybe anotherologist type language. Hailey Stephenson No. If one is born in America, one is an American. If one is born in Africa and migrates to America, one is then an African-American.
@Hailey Stephenson no, for example. Since I was born in Canada I'm a Canadian. If I was born in Canada and migrated to let's say Mexico. Then I'd be Canadian-mexican.
Good Job France You as a powerful empire was allied with five other powerful empires and managed to lose against three empires who were barely your match
I think southern native Americans had more of a united power like Aztecs even tho some southern native fight each other's. In the south like Mexico they where bigger and United
In Mexico, they were united in human sacrifice. There are theories today that suggest that people were actually bred for that specific purpose. It's kind of funny- not much has changed since then- look at the murder rates.
The Haudenosaunee (around the east/southeast edge of the great lakes) were without a doubt the most united of the native Americans. They were comprised of the Mohawk, Seneca, Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga, and later (after 1722), the Tuscarora.
that's not the point because the video said that The Seven Years' War was global, you would think those 2 wars would be too since they have similar names.
BurntKumquat Go to Versailles, Indiana. The people there pronounce it "Versails." Granted, having an ocean between France and America will do that, but it's still pretty funny.
Political correctness is silly. We've been calling Native Americans "Indians" for a very long time. If you really want to help them, I suggest figuring out a way to reintegrate them into their former lands, and out of the 3rd world- esque reservations they live in...their name is the least of their problems.
You can do both: try to be politically correct while tackling those more practical issues, such as helping to improve the poor situations in reservations. Being PC is still something that shouldn't be ignored just because it's not as important.
"Native Americans" is more respectful, not just more politically correct. The name clearly denotes that they were here first, while also acknowledging the difference between them and Americans. Calling them "Indians" is confusing for obvious reasons, while also being disrespectful seeing as we've known better for centuries. Granted, the ideal name to use would be that of their tribe, but that's not something that's going to happen in this country.
This made everything so much more simple than this stupid textbook

truly this should be called the first world war, so in true terms the earth has already experienced three world wars.
That's right
Big Ken the Napoleonic wars were a global war too.

“The people who named this war seemed to be pretty bad at math”
Yes, because wikipedia has it at six years.
How to annoy a math/history teacher.
1. start a war
2. end and name war 7 years, when its actually 9
3. time travel centuries into the future
Tip...watch in x2
I really enjoy these types of vid and the lady's voice is so calming it like the best combo

This was the First World War not the one in 1914
The British Philippines (Manila) 1762-1764.
I am an Indian (a real Indian from India, that is) and I want to sue the Americans and Christopher Columbus for misusing the term "Indian". :)

Ya, I think it started December 31st 1754/1755. According to the internet.

Shouldn't it be called WW 1 and ww1 as we know it be called ww2?
The name, The Seven Years' War "shows there was a global war". Really? What about The 100 Years' War or The Six Day War?
Deus Liberum how were that global? A global war happens all around the globe
that's not the point because the video said that The Seven Years' War was global, you would think those 2 wars would be too since they have similar names.

Canada has an ocean between it and France and we seem to manage!
1756-1763 (7 years not 9)
The French & Indian Wars starts earlier and is a integral part of the Seven Years War thus the longer period.

Just to let you know, that "indians" is not the proper way of saying aboriginals. Instead call them "first nations".
Political correctness is silly. We've been calling Native Americans "Indians" for a very long time.
