Yeah, I would have totally botched that. I can barely handle a screen protector after steaming up a bathroom. This guy pops it in place like nothing after using the pack-in cleaners (which always smear on me).
I shell swapped my original switch and joycons to jungle green and it’s absolutely amazing! Whenever I’m playing at uni or anywhere in public people always come up to me to comment on it. I’m probably going to pick up an atomic purple shell for my switch lite but I’m also considering a jungle green one if the become available so my switches will match.
I'm so glad you did this on a turquoise console! How it would look with that screen protector was literally the one thing I needed to know that would get me off the fence and I'm definitely going to take the plunge :)
Some of us already own a Switch Lite and I'd rather do a shell swap. But more color option from the release would have been nice. Especially more standard colors like Black and White
Everything in a console has to be tested. This is expensive. Now imagine you are only changing a color... How many times will you need to do testing to make sure it is safe for someone to literally eat it? For each color? Plus, some colors are awful... And unsold consoles are lost profits.
I love the atomic purple as well. This looks awesome! I replaced my Switch's joycons with atomic purple shells (Which was a pain), but man it was worth it. Love your videos and the way you lay down the information/disclaimers. Always helpful. Your arcade1up tut with the raspberry pi was super helpful with my SF2 cab mods as well.
Man this looks BEAUTIFUL. You almost made me go out and but a Switch Lite just to make this mod. You can bet if i ever get a Switch Lite, i will be doing this mod.
The thing that drives me crazy with these shells and joy con versions is the glossy plastic. These really need to be a matte texture to avoid feeling super cheap.
@@ganchyy Matte clear is possible but it is not as clear but that is how it was all created in the past. Look at the current Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. It is a matte clear.
I got a normal switch back in October and immediately switched the housing out for an atomic purple one and love it! Seeing you do the same to your switch lite just makes me want to go out and buy myself one just to do this to it but that wouldn't be a very financially smart move for me lol.
I agree the Atomic Purple looks awesome for any shell... and for me all buttons would be fluorescent green!! I'm an 70's-80's kid so I have always loved the purple and green combo....
That can be fixed in due time, there are plenty to choose from for aftermarket buttons, I for one changed my original Switch joycons to look like Dark Grey Switch Lite (white accents for sticks and buttons) and you can even change it's color on the Switch menu itself with the Joycon PC tool. I'm sure ETA PRIME knows all that already, I think even Atomic Purple buttons (not the sticks though) could be found.
I been dreaming for this since I saw the Atomic purple shells for the Joy-Con, and when the Switch Lite finally got released it was just a matter of time. I'm glad that Myriann are the ones behind these shells as well. I trust in their quality. Now that this is a reality I really want to do it but also I'm scared to damage my Switch. I'm not a noob, I have opened and change Shells from other devices in the past but so far none has look as hard as this one. I would prefer to use the White buttons to mimic the aspect of the original GBA.
Dude, you've been doing a really nice job, lately i've seen some of your videos and i'm picking a like to your content, this was a very nice video, keep it up.
MisterTracks hey man just a question dose the purple and black background mean anything or did you just think it looks cool like my comment and Let me know
It's the prettiest switch I've ever seen. 😍 if this was an actual switch lite you could buy in store just the way it is without having to buy that and having to take it apart and putting it back together, I would totally buy it.🤩
I just did this exact same thing and thank god that everything works correctly. I almost broke the heat pipe when I was taking it out lol. All in all, this a pretty daunting task, but if you make sure to organize your screws and take your time (while watching a tutorial) this should work out fine.
I'm doing this myself, the problem here is that the glass you applied is supposed to replace the original one, if you put it on top it will have a "bump" and doesnt look good, and eventually will be a problem. The problem is that removing the lamination of the screen + digitizer will break the digitizer, which is what happened to me. I ended up ordering a new screen, digitizer and glass with gray borders. For the shell product to be perfect and easy to apply, they should include a screen protector (just film not glass, so that it is very thin), with a black/gray bezel made from vinyl - this will solve the problem and wont make customers replace screens, or create that "bump" where you actually put 2 glasses on top of each other.
Looks amazing! I will say that i'm surprised that even with these replacement shells becoming available, I still can't seem to find replacement buttons to swap out the white ones. I love how they have the SNES/Famicom face buttons but would love the option to swap the rest out for black buttons for a more premium prestige look. Awesome work! and Yes, shout out to Homeboy Elliot!
I did this with my normal Switch ages ago. Effing love atomic purple. Although I think I messed up the springs in my trigger buttons because after i did it they had a very slight amount of jiggle to them and just don't feel like a normal joycon trigger button anymore. I'm not too interested in a Switch Lite, but with with having to take even the screen and main board out, ugh, I'd probably pass on this if I got one, lol
2 things. Would recommend a black switch lite for others interested in using a replacement shell (so you wouldn't get any colors using your old screen that clash with your new shell) as well as using some disposable gloves to reduce the chance of getting fingerprints on parts.
@@GBA_Raspberry why would anyone want to see the insides of a system you already know whats in there? Id rather take a case and custom paint it if you want something interesting to look at.
@@GBA_Raspberry You must be ether blind or stupid as you aparently missed where I said that I "as in me" would rather take a shell and custom paint it " You know something a creative person would do" That's odd you cant be talking about these shells when you say it's unique as that word means "being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else." This looks really good! With the new animal crossing out I would be lying if I said I haven’t considered getting a switch lite in addition to my SE switch so I can have another island, and I would totally get a custom shell kit for it. I just wish there was a pink version of this shell lol
The famicom buttons do look great, would be nice to have color or black on the direction buttons, joysticks & triggers though. Still, it looks amazing...
For my use case I think it's easiest to swap the back and other plastic bits out and then put a dbrand skin on the front since I want a white one. Then I don't need to bother with most of this and the power/volume buttons and space between the should buttons will match.
Sweet! I did a clear transparent to my full sized switch. I remember one of the joycons were a complete nightmare (it's the one with the NFC hardware in it) because it was so thick. Something to know if u do another. Also maybe you can change out the anolog and shoulders for build 2.0, looking forward to that video!
Cool mod for the Switch Lite, I was kinda expecting the draw for the handheld giveaway to be at the end of the video but I suppose that will be tomorrow.
Careful not to overtighten the screws! I have the same casing on mine and I have to swap it out for a boring gray one because the shell cracked in a couple places where I tightened the screws too much.
That finesse when installing the screen protector though 👌
Yeah, I would have totally botched that. I can barely handle a screen protector after steaming up a bathroom. This guy pops it in place like nothing after using the pack-in cleaners (which always smear on me).
Haha noticed that too
I was like....yo..where the lint and bubble at XD
Too smooth
So satisfying
This looks beautiful! I wish there was a Jungle Green variation, that was always my favorite from the N64.
Go into Ali Express they got the snes skin ,clear ,and clear green and you may find the solid green also
Oh I feel this comment.

i think its expensive, if it doesnt sell well

The colors rn are fine, but they need to make exclusive lites that are like these
dude. this is straight up nostalgic. remember when N64 had the clear hardshell in green and blue? they even had pink clear controllers...YES!!
Even though i did this to my switch lite already I'll still watch it because i love your content
I don't like clear shells and still watched it.

Read this comment right as he said it 🤣
They do.
I love the shoutout to Elliott because I watch you both all the time. Good video. The purple looks very nostalgic with the Switch

a quick search on amazon results in some options for the full size switch. Not sure if those will work with the lite as well.
