Check out the Animal Crossing New Horizons design I made for the Switch Lite! Here is the tutorial on how to make one: ua-cam.com/video/TEv1LZozRoU/v-deo.html
Don’t have a Nintendo switch lite, I have a Nintendo switch but for some reason these videos are really fun to watch!..Anyways, first.
I might do this for my girlfriend thanks!
Don’t have a PS4 you should make a video how to make a ps4
Lol dang I thought all I had to do was just remove the shell
Same
That happened to me when I had to change the drive on my PSP 2004 model. Laser was broken. I got the new drive, then checked a few videos on how to do it and decided to swap the shell in one go too, had to take it apart entirely anyways. So I also got a new shell. It was scary, there are even more parts and screws than on the Switch Lite (I've done two Switch Lite case replacements) and I was extremely inexperienced, but I got through. Had quite a lot of fun with that thing and it was pretty unique, clear bright blue.
Can you please list the external materials required to do this, like the thermal paste etcetera, I got part way through your video took my Switch apart and then learned I didn't even have everything I needed! I'm not saying this is your fault at all but the heads up that other components are required to do this would have been handy before frustration and dissapointment was caused
Ok so it def was more advanced than assumed lol... Especially with heating around the screen
@@fenrirharrell7833 it's in the description for anyone who wants to know she forgot to leave a link to isopropyl alcohol but most people have this anyway so, just pick some up at your local pharmacy.
I have not disappeared. I have been switching gears and working on longer term projects. A change of pace was needed and there is so much more I want to learn and do. Technology is SO MUCH MORE than reviewing only smartphones.
Waiting to see u in action 😇
Love from India 🇮🇳 ♥
Your smartphone reviews weren't like everyone else's, you dove into the technical aspects of it. Will miss them, but good luck in your new ventures.
Never said I won’t review them. I just need a change of pace.
@@EricaGriffin ALL your videos are amazing, no matter what you do/review! can't wait to see what comes next! Your videos have honestly inspired me to learn more about tech, its so interesting!
Also hope you're doing okay in times like this :)
@@EricaGriffin Erica, YOLO. Happy independence day.
As a PC repair tech, I can say that this tutorial was spot-on. Lots of useful tips and warnings that inexperienced users might not consider.
I’ll take my chances
nope, plugged in the battery waaaaay to early, too much risk of damaging the console.

youre awesome brooo
Your video has been immeasurably helpful ! Also when you note the gold screws during the rebuild was so helpful for me. Thanks for these notes !
You’re amazing
You are a life saver
I just did a shell replacement following this. Some advices:
1: you don't have to disconnect the battery. The little cables that goes to the connector are VERY fragile. They break very easily and if you do like in this vid (unpluging it by pushing out the cables) you will break it for sure. Just make sure that you power off the switch COMPLETELY. Do not dissassemble if you have your system in wait mode or you may fry the motherboard.
2: the same goes to the speakers. You don't have to unplug them. They are EXTREMELY fragile and breaking the cables is very easy. Just handle the board with extra care, but do not unplug them.
3: the new shell should not use the original screws. Use the ones that come with the new shell, as you may crack the shell otherwise like erica said.
4: do not place the hair dryer for a WHOLE minute while it's on hot. Just a couple seconds its okay. You may damage the digitizer and the LCD if it is very hot. Remember that you only need to heat the adhesive, not the LCD.
5: it is not necessary to replace the thermal paste if its in a good condition, but it's always a good idea. The switch lite does not overheat that much either.
Thank you!
Too late I broke…
Definitely unplug the battery; it's cheap and easy to replace the battery with a new one that will have a new connector should you break the wires off the connector (which you likely won't anyways).
On the other hand, if you short a chip somewhere on the motherboard because you didn't unplug the battery, you might as well buy a new switch.
I would recommend making a video on how to fix the joy con drift! There may be lots of videos out there that relate to that topic, but you explain things so well in 4K. Plus you’re awesome!
Just replace the sticks. They're easy to replace and it's more of a permanent solution than to fiddle with them by trying to open them up.
This video covers it.. why are you promoting the same content being made more than once. All it takes is some really well placed time stamps to get the same video about how to fix or change the joycons.
I've already seen a video on this very subject! Though it mostly depends on its diagnosis.
Go to the calibration settings via Settings>Controllers and Sensors>(scroll down) Calibrate Control Sticks>Tilt the stick you want to calibrate.
Once you have selected the joystick you want to calibrate, watch how it moves away from the center of the '+'. Apply pressure to the shell directly by the joystick (just the part by the hole it comes out of). If the dot goes back to the center of the '+', you have an issue with pressure on the inside of the joycon.
To fix the pressure problem, simply put a small piece of paper/cardboard (about 1mm thick) on top of the joystick, between the silvery back (of the stick) and the battery plate. That should fix it!
HOWEVER, if that does not fix the problem, the issue is definitely just your joystick and you need to replace it.
I know it's a year late, but I hope this response helps you understand how joycon drift happens and how you can permanently fix it!
@@nomoretwitterhandles Spot on
I’ve watched a ton of videos on shell swaps and this is my favorite! Very clear and straightforward! Easy to understand! Will be using this video if I swap shells!
"Oh, cool, I can do that. At your own risk? Surely you can't be removing tiny parts...?"
Starts removing tiny parts.
"I can't watch, it's stressing me out! I'll settle for decal stickers!"
My hands shake and jerk, so precision work+ tiny parts isn't for me.
You could always just replace the back shell? All that would require would be unscrewing the back off.
@@_____________a_a Good idea!
@@dragoniraflameblade no problem! Sorry if I sounded snarky. Lol. Didn’t mean for it to come off like that.
Never seen anyone anywhere do a video so crisp and clean with explanations and tutorials and step by step!! I love you ❤️
The only thing missing is how to replace the digitizer, if it's scratched or broken.
I don't trust me to do this but it looks so cool 🤣
Kinda wish I had a switch. Although even if i did I'd never trust myself enough to do something like this
Mod the New 3Ds its way more fun and not that scary i did tons of hardware and software mods If you have a 3DS you should try to some mod
One tip is to get a pill sorter to keep all the screws organized while working.
@@markoner2624 unfortunately I dont have one

@@1middy try saving your money, I saved 5 months ago finally able to buy a switch🤗🤗
I don't comment much on videos, but this was the best case tutorial I have seen so had to compliment you. Clear visuals, concise commentry with no unnecessary waffle. I wish all tutorials were as good as this.
Thank you for this tutorial! Atomic purple was the color of my first ever game boy color I first got back in 1999 and it will forever be my favorite colorway!
I've been your subscribers since the beginning days when you were just starting out on phones. I'm happy to see you're getting in to switch and games as well as your usual mobile phones. :) I found your tutorials so much better than most on YT. Very detailed instruction and your camera work sure makes following your steps a breeze. Thanks as always for great video. Please keep it coming :)
Just followed this tutorial for one of the ExtremeRate shells. Thank you so much! The way you talked through every step and showed off all the screws and ribbon cables with close-ups was extremely useful.
Thanks so much for this tutorial! Loving my atomic purple switch! You made this super easy to understand and super super instructive!! I normally work on older consoles as a hobby, but I’ve started to dip my feet into newer ones and this helped boost my confidence!
Thank you so much for this video, Erica. I reshelled a Switch Lite last night for a friend of mine and it turned out impeccably thanks to your excellent breakdown of the process. I can't thank you enough! Now I wanna buy one to do for myself haha
I've seen lots of vids of modding the switch lite, this one is the only one that can help anybody mod their NS Lite. Thanks for the great vid Erica! You are really smart 👏
Erica, thank you! You've inspired me to get a shell and paint it with my liquid crystal thermochromic paint which arrived only this week. I was trying so hard to think of something to use it on and this will look amazing, especially as the unit warms up on cold days. I'm excited. Thanks again! 👍😃
record your process and upload it, I'd lover to see the finished product
have fun voiding your warranty

It's a very well made video that I've watch tons of times to prepare myself mentally for when my shell and buttons arrive.
Thanks for all the explanations. Can't wait to try it out!
I’ve used this video twice now, both successfully! Thanks a bunch, and happy new year!
I thank you for making this. I have had the video saved since july and ive been wanting to do this ever since. Today I finally did and I love it. I appreciate you.
I bought a switch lite two days ago. Came across these videos where everyone was swapping out the shells. Bought the Atomic Purple because it does look like the old GameBoy Color. Found this video to be the most helpful out of everything on youtube. Thank you! Loving my Atomic Purple Switch Lite! 😎
Shell swapped the preused switch lite I got recently and gave it a beautiful makeover. Went through your video through the entire process. Thanks a tonne for this video. 🥺❤️
This doesn't look TOO hard. Just alotttttttttt of steps but holy hell is this a 5 hour project easily. God damn
*a lot
Yeah, can confirm roughly 4-5 hours.
Yeah the worst part is making sure you don't f up the little bits
I have seen multiple videos on how to do this and your video is the first one I've seen that recommends heating the screen, everyone else just rips off the screen which made me anxious but your way of doing it gives me confidence to try this
That's awesome! Great job!!! I love doing stuff like this to tech. The purple switch definitely gives me the clearest purple gameboy.
Don't own a switch, have no intention of buying or modding one, but @EricaGriffin it is nice to hear your voice! Be blessed! Keep doing your thing.
Video was much appreciated. I found it easier to follow than the official installation guide my brand provided me and I was pleased to see that there was very little talking around aside from the sponsor section. My only previous experience in anything like this is PC building, very few screws required, so I was nervous and I am very glad this video was so well put :)
I just installed the same one you have on my switch, I did exactly what you did and it went smoothly and you made it looks so easy.
Thanks for such a helpful video!
I'm extremely tempted to get a switch lite and swap out the shell. It looks intimidating but your clear instructions make me think I'll succeed. Thank you for the tutorial Erica!
Saving this!!!
You're the best! That honestly didn't look too daunting to try out, the way you did a very systematic and straight-forward approach from removing the screws to describing each part and how to disassemble everything without too much fussing about.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!
Watching this years later! Nice tutorial. I just followed you step by step and the job went flawlessly! Thanks for the quality info and video.
Phenomenal video. My youngest son has been quite hard on his Switch Lite and he needs a new shell. The details you provided made me feel pretty confident in being able to do it.
Hey Erica I just did this and I must say your tutorial was spot on. I did end up having to get a new screen and digitizer, but thanks to your video this Atomic Purp is dope!!!
Did you damage the ribbon cable or was the unrelated to the shell replacement haha
No the screen was damaged, replaced the screen and noticed a needed a digitizer as well.
This was awesome! You made it so easy! I just replaced the buttons and joysticks with a different color so it was a lot easier not having to deal with the screen. Thanks for the tutorial!
There are no words. Apart from AHHHHHHHHH THIS IS AMAZINGGGG
I just did this swap this morning, and it went as smoothly as it could have thanks to your wonderful video. Thank you!
This was such a detailed and careful instructional video! I can’t wait to get my own custom shell now!
I forgot to be careful with the LCD and now it broken
This video makes me wanna buy used and/or broken switch lites and re-build them. It was a really good tutorial. I had no idea THERE WOULD BE A THOUSAND SCREWS.
Thank you for this video! I ran into some complications, but overall got it all figured out and everything is working! My daughter loves it!
This was extremely helpful. You were extremely thorough and I appreciate that. Thanks for the video!!
This was a great tear down video, as an old school Mac repair guy (lapsed Apple authorized) you did everything right, just the way an Apple tech would, systematic, organized, and testing the unit before complete reassembly
Excellent work, this could be a reference video for shell swaps :)
This is by far one of the best tutorials. For anyone watching one thing I would change:
After you tested it on please unplug the battery as shown on the video description
This was very helpful! I actually felt like I knew what I was doing-thank you!
This video saved my sons Nintendo switch. You were extremely detailed and the video was perfect to follow along. Much appreciated.
i have no intention of doing this to my switch lite but i loved listening to your voice, you're a great teacher :)
i'm tempted to commission erica to build this from my turquoise lite, especially after the 15th "dont over-tighten" warning.
This is sooo amazing! Thank you SO much. I wanna try this soon so I watched a lot of tutorials about this but your video is by far the best one on how to do it. You explain so incredibly well and show every step really clearly. I can't thank you enough :))
Will be doing this shortly before the next weekend and might update my comment on how it went as I return to this video quite often for learning purposes anyway.
Lots of love and stay safe everybody!
Wow! That looks great and super creative! Great work! Keep these videos coming. And take care! ❤
Thanks so much for your video! I followed step by step and everyting worked out fine :) You made it easy to understand and choose reasonable camera angles!
You’re an excellent teacher. Thank you for the clear instructions.
This tutorial was very useful and helped ensure that nothing went wrong when I did it. Thank you!
I can't believe how different you sound!I haven't been here for years. Glad you're still making interesting videos.
Has my voice really changed or something?
Yes a little bit. Maybe a new microphone? Or maybe is just me the one that haven't been in your channel for a while
Lot a work there Erica. Nice job at capturing essential steps! Answer to you question at the end. A big yes!! Ordered the SNES EU classic shell and going to try it. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the step by step direction. I just did mine in white. It looks, works and feels great so far. Game on!
Thanks for the guide, followed along and managed to turn my coral switch lite white! Looks so fresh and clean now!
Just completed my case swap and man......i enjoyed it. you made it so easy. thank you. my switch lite looks amazing.
Your videos are dope as hell, I super dig that Atomic Purple
Just got my parts in and I am really glad I watched your video first
Just did my switch lite. Excellent explanations, it really helped. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this incredibly detailed and well-explained video. I was able to customize my switch to look like the SNES because of your video. TY TY TY =D
Long time no see ... I don't recall the last time UA-cam suggested me your videos but I'm glad it did.
Amazing work - so detailed and clear to follow. Thanks!
Legit, God bless you for this video. I've had to consult it SO MANY TIMES for Switch Lite repairs, cleaning, and maintenance. At one point I broke the screen and had to replace it entirely.
This video was exactly what I needed to get me through changing my daughter's case to pink. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just did the same shell replacement and it worked perfectly!
Thanks for the help, changed my daughters switch to a pink shell she's delighted, instructions were clear and consise
Much appreciated for the walkthrough, was useful for remembering where screws went
2nd time I've used this tutorial in less than a year. You are the best!!!
Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial! It's helped so much!
This is way easier than I thought it would be. The design is genius how everything plugs or screws or pops in. It's just a lot of steps, but that's what the video is for! Haha, so you can follow along.
I modded my GBA and I had to carefully trim parts of the shell to fit the new back-lit screen , with the clear green shell, every little cut or scratch shows through. I'm glad this doesn't require any cutting of the brand new shell.
I definitely want to do my switch now in a clear jungle green, or clear slime green, or clear orange like the N64
Thanks for this awesome tutorial! I followed it step by step and was able to change out my daughter's dog-chewed switch housing to new housing and the process went smoothly :)
That switch lite skin looked very cool.I like seeing the insides in action.
This reminds me a lot of when I replaced my PS Vita shell! I feel a lot more confident after this video. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for this. My screen suddenly started acting up last night and I have to replace it. I'm tempted to do it myself but every video I've seen is sped up with no detailed instructions. Though this video is of a different purpose, it is still 90% of what I have to do and with great instructions and attention to detail!
When I saw you removing the back cover and I thought Oh it's not that hard... then... you know... I wish they allow us to change the casing like Nokia Xpress-on cover in the past...
Thank you for all your help. This was the best and straight forward. I was able to replace the shell on my son's switch lite with no issues. I bought a used switch lite for him that was bit on by a dog . Now it looks brand new .
Thank you for the clear, in-depth tutorial! I regret the colour switch lite I got and I want to try this.
Great vid! ive done plenty of exchanges on the regular switch but none on the lite, other vids ive watched never replace the thermal paste so im glad yours is the first one to pop up!
"prone to stress fractures" 4 words that equal no sale for me.
This is a hell of a lot of work for poor quality plastic. I agree.
Yet when you do it right it’s fine. I just won’t abuse and bend the heck out of it.
@@rippsteakface Are you playing football with your Switch?
Same here man! And also the mood highly be perfect and require filing !? No thanks
Just did this myself by following your tutorial. Took a lot longer than 16 minutes but I got it done! Sadly my power button isn't working (it was broken before I did this) so I just ordered a replacement volume & power module thingy and going to have to go back into it in a few days to finish the job! But this video made it really easy. Thanks :)
Just done this swap and your video help massively. Top work and thank you.
I just replaced my shell with an NES shell. You made it very easy and i was able to pause (ALOT). Everything went smoothly and everything works/ functions great. Thank you! Side note, i did have to slightly sand down my L trigger as stated. Thanks for that tip as well.
Thank you so much for this! Helped me change the shell on my wife's switch and it came out great!!
Followed step by step, and I had great success! Great guide 🎉
Best tutorial I have watched so far...gave me confidence to do this myself. I have just ordered myself a shell and will give it a go.
How'd it go?
how did it gooo? i've got an sakura shell from aliexpress but im scared to do it
This guide was perfect thank you!!! Our dog ate the corner of our switch which broke the shoulder buttons.. I was extremly happy to see nothing was ruined besides the case and the buttons.. Now the switch is back in biz like it never happened for $30
Great tutorial! I’m definitely doing this, thanks Erica!
Your video helped me all the way through this process 100%! Thanks for the video!
Erica the tutorial was more than helpful tempted to buy another switch got four already just need to experiment looks easy enough to pull off thanks
Missed you, Erica!
I am now confident enough to try it. Thank you.
Thanks just did it for my first time step by step still working lol keep up the good work
Fantastic video. It was incredibly helpful the whole way through
Thanks for uploading this tutorial! If I get a switch and want to mod it this video will be super handy.
and youll void it warranty
Yes this tutorial was one of the best on youtube for Nintendo Switch Lite Shell Swapping. I especially love how you dont peel up the battery since its not required to do so.
The only omission from it is how to lift the latches on the ribbon cables. You dont show how to flip the latches on them. I did have to look to another video for that, but with that sole exception, I followed yours step by step to change the beat up looking (but good screen) switch lite I bought for my daughter into a custom atomic purple, pink and unicorn theme switch lite.
Notes I especially liked: Pointing out if all the screws were the same, or if one was longer. Doing the gold ones or longer ones on a different step to avoid confusion. Speaking of your sponsor, ifixit, they make a "ifixit anti-static project tray" that honestly, I initally thought was dumb. my wife got it for me. But..... following your guide, I did each step with the screws and parts placed in a compartment. each step was a new compartment.... so when I went to reassemble, the screws were together. Parts were in correct order. Was excellent.
Hi erica thank you for this awesome diy case shell video for the nintendo switch lite. Im gonna try this. Thank you and your awesome!!!!
You just made me want to mod a switch lite, and I don’t even own one lol. Probably the best tutorial video on UA-cam!
