A couple of things. It looks like the new 2020 version has 2 magnets instead of 1 like in the 2019 model. This allows the halves of the laptop to stay a lot tighter together, which makes it much nicer to use in tablet mode.

If memory serves from the CES 2020 discussions, the variant with the 2W low-power display should offer class-leading battery life, likely 13+ hrs, hopefully... I think the only things that are missing to make this the perfect laptop, perhaps of all time, are addition of LTE, 32GB ram and having that super colour accurate Q-LED display on the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex, which would consume even less power and offering up to 600 nits of brightness. That said, I really want this Spectre.

Great job, Jenny! I like the fact that you are a crazy type. You are like me, really.
My main questions surround heat management and battery life? How cool does the laptop run, given the H-series 45W processor it came with? Does it thermal throttle in any way? And the fan? Any loud noise under minimal load? As for the battery, what has been your experience? Up to 8 hours or less? Thanks for blazing the trail.

I just ordered this laptop with the 4K 400 nits screen. I’ve heard from forums the OLED model is a real battery drainer with average of about 5 hours and the 4K models around 10 hours.

Thank you for this disassembly. Sadly you answered my question regarding the RAM and see it is soldered onto the board. The good news as always is that the SSD drive can be upgraded. While I like the Intel SSD, I've used the Samsung SSD Plus drives and feel they are still much faster in reading/writing performance. Thank you again for this video!!

Well, that confirms that the RAM is soldered on the MB. What a jerk move by HP. If I wanted to be left with next to no options I'd buy a Mac. The space savings are minimal, but the chance of the money for the upgraded RAM reaching HP's pocket are substantially maximized.

Hi Bartok, I'm not 100% sure and wish I'd peeled the black plastic off for a better look. It does say on the specs though that it's onboard ram - suggesting to me that means soldered.

Bartok, just for you, I've opened it again. It's definitely not replaceable. I've taken some good photos to show this, which I might include in my next video. The memory is not on a separate removable card, those chips are soldered onto the mainboard. The black kapton sheeting stuff makes it look raised but it's not.
