I still make Chicken a'la King. take a can of it; add leftover cooked, diced chicken; top with packaged refrigerated biscuits; and baked until the biscuits are golden brown. Hot, quick. and yummy. On the other hand, I grew up in the late 50's-60's and never saw a gelatin salad, either fruit or vegetable, on the table. Even back then, they weren't as common as the media of the day would lead us to believe.
Gotta say, using the word congealed multiple times to describe gelatin moulds, makes it very unappetizing. That word, ruining my memories of meals as a child.
