I have driven many trucks over the years. My XF was replaced for an XG. I like it, the company I work for has had a new fleet of Volvo, DAF, MAN. SCANIAS. I do like the DAF, they have done a good job a big improvement on the previous XF. A worthy winner for truck of the year award.
Loved the appraisal of the DAF XG, overall a very fair impression of it. 👍
Perhaps a few of the differences you had with the comparison of the Daf XG and your Merc might be a little bit due to the set up by the normal driver is not the same as for yourself. i.e mirror angles and seat pressure. A great video appraising the truck. Stay safe and take care.

Morning Jenko hope your well buddy, you can definatly tell that its alot quieter than the Merc. Do like the swivelling seat and the raising bed on both sides in the DAF that you showed in the video.
I bet the cab is air sprung on it, i drive a xf 106 for atb Davies at carmarthen and the cab on that is on springs but i did drive another which was on airbags for the cab and it was a big difference and more like what you have described the xg to be, 😊
Its like when you get a new car you are unsure but that cab looks comfortable thank you
Great vlog Mart. Hope Ferryman allows you to do this with some other trucks in the future. Hope they get you an Edition 2 next year. Nice truck but yours does look more premium inside.
Hi Martin great video and very honest review. You were talking about the bed in the Merc not being able to sit up like the DAF but I have been using a 2017 Actros that's no where near as nice as yours but it has a board under the mattress behind the passenger seat that lifts up and tilts the mattress up so you can get a better position.

hi jenko i get a new xg in august after a weeks demo i found it very comftable it looked like the air was right up in that 1 , ive delited top bunk and added extra lockers and yes passenger seat will swivel . im so glad the heater controls are old style where you havnt got 2 go into a screen to turn the heat up or down

Martyn if you think the new DAF is smooth…which they are a big improvement on their previous one…wait until you’ve driven the new I-shift Volvo FH which we now have 👍🏻on another level I’d say..another great vlog….safe travels

Hello Jenko just watched your review of the Daf versus the Merc,two great trucks but I would say i preferred the Daf.A beautiful cab and a smoother ride.I never experienced any problems with the seat.Maybe your seat had a problem or was not set up properly to suit you.

Martin, our company received a batch of ex London buses, that 'wallowed' & bounced. Unnerving experience especially cornering. You did't feel in control. Fortunately we only had them for about 12 months & they were scrapped. Best place for them. I must say, the truck looks really stylish.
Common fault with them as the suspensions are so soft on them
If You have super single, wide tyers and wheels on front axle, and mid lift, it will be way less bouncing around, and much smoother right...

Got friends who drive DAF's. They said your mate got it still in factory settings way it's riding. The DAF EX, my friends' drive, can change the riding style

Hi Mart. I could see the difference in power compared to the Merc when you were pulling away from roundabouts etc. Daf not as quick but then less power than Merc and heavy load. Also hello to Claire.

They look a cracking truck… havnt driven a DAF in about 6 years… bed was the comfiest to sleep in but the lights on the dash constantly came on and off…

Looking at the cab there id be concerned of the front mirror cans, especially if you have a roller washer as it’ll just rip that front camera off with it sticking out so far

Looks to me like that daf just has a really flexible chassis and maybe a soft suspension, maybe the cab is on springs and not airbags
You do not want the truck to be too low to the ground, that front spoiler -as there is no real bumper , gets broken a LOT, and it takes 1000 $ to replace it, some drivers do put a metal bar low, so the bar gets the road blows and gets bent or broken and the bar is 1000$ too, so its better to have that 6 inches of the ground, if You got air suspension You can lower the front if You like.
High centre of gravity and that cab looks like the front is tipping towards the road,thats explaining it all to me anyway

Jenko, as a fellow Merc driver just wondering if you keep your bunk lowered when driving? I'm 6"3 and have to keep bunk up stowed as my seat catches bunk otherwise when bouncing. Really bad design in my eyes. PS my basic Merc can raise the bed to the recline position so have a play around il guarantee yours does
Mine has to be stowed in the up position as its almost the size of a double bed. The Edition1 has a large top bunk
The one test that was missing, was the kettle rattle
If feels like getting bumped around because maybe have an air ride cab
Nice truck but the reversing cameras are annoying as they only work in Reverse so no good if you are moving forward to adjust your position
It's got a bit of a bigger tank on this compare to the merc then ? It looks it still gets to 56mph or is it max 52 to 54mph ? Liking the blue🤝.
Still 56 and i have a 490 ltr fuel tank in mine buddy 👍
Loved the vlog Martyn. I don't think your 100 percent happy with the XG. When you get your Merc changed next year do get the pick of what you want or do you have to take what they give you? I think your Merc is far superior to the Daf. Take care.
You should do a review video from the trucks you driven from ur time as a motorway gypsy as they call trampers
DAF is okay,but you still can't beat the Mercedes mate.I bet you will be Sorry to see if leave the fleet.I wonder what you might try next MAN perhaps,or do you think they will stick with DAF's.Stay safe and keep on truckin'.

Must admit, Martyn as far as trucks go, I think the New Iveco S-Way is about the prettiest truck out at the moment. The XG+ looks like a Trampers delight with the extra room in the cab. But the biggie will always come down to ££££'s cheapest to run wins. Really don't see BEV wagons being the way to go. They can't get a car to do better than 300 miles. Sod all chance a wagons going to get to that sort of distance. Then there's the usual lack of infrastructure. Got too few truck parking spots as it is. But then they'll get snaffled earlier and earlier as drivers try to get their wagons recharged. It's not going to be pretty for haulage firms to make money. They're all going to need more depots, more wagons and more drivers to be able to get stuff to where it's needed. What do you think?
Totally agree with you buddy on the EV side too trucking the infrastructure is not there and won't be for a very long time in my opinion

Sir I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that as the truck was a buddy's you were not going to touch anything on it perhaps out of respect and not adjusting the suspension settings for the load weight effects the drive comfort that you are used to your thoughts thanks
