Flipping heck Stavros... you were right on my doorstep ( I work accross the road from lancs daf ) and I saw this next gen daf on the road probably you driving it 🤣 great video as always pal 👍
Another good review, in my opinion a flat floor doesn’t work unless you are operating in clean conditions, eg a rdc with a small engine tunnel you can keep the dust and muck in the footwell and not over the entire floor area with dust etc, at the end of the day it’s no hardship to lift your foot up slightly to move into the centre of the cab🙂
Some people preffer top bunk cuz it's usually harder, wider, and/or they preffer to sleep up top than on the low bunk. You can use low bunk during your breaks, especially in this daf in which you can shape it for maximum comfort for your rest, and use top bunk for your sleep. And if you don't use your top bunk for sleep, i am sure you can easily use it for storage no problem. You can even mount some containers there without having to screw anything, needs a little invention on your part tho. I really don't see a problem with that.
@@Invocated_Agitator I see the problem ,perhaps daf need to use there imagination, there is next to no storage space in it ,fridge is to small ,looks cheap
@@Invocated_Agitator They could do like Volvo, Scania and MAN, were you can choose between an upper bunk, or more locker space. Of course you can use the upper bunk for storage if you don't sleep there. But it's safer to keep things in lockers.
Kyle it's definitely not a well designed truck ,so many things r already behind the competitors, when the other big names bring there updates out ,daf r going to be also rans again, it's a pity because they started with a clean sheet of paper and made a very frustrating job of it ,apart from the space there's nothing that is particularly good about ,it's not up with the big swedes on quality, design ,cost , oh well another 30 years waste
great video again, thank you! the reflection on the infotainmant screen comes from a protective foil, when this is off the reflection is gone. look closely at the edges of the screen in your video and you will see that there is a foil on it. greetings from the Netherlands

Recently drove an XG for delivery to a customer in Southampton and there's definitely improvements overall, love the DAF vision system (the angle of the driver side "mirror" display could be changed, like Stavros said). I found the seat a bit stiff (but that may just be because it's new) but it's actually quite a smooth and comfy ride. Weirdly, I was getting the same kind of comfort vibe as I did when I drove a Peterbilt 579 in Portland, USA last year. Maybe it's a PACCAR thing.
Another great review Stavros, the best I've seen on the new Daf's so far. I think with standard side mirrors and the digital vision system for the front corner, you've got the best of both worlds. Also, have Daf now dropped the CF range for artics?
Doesn't look like it on their website, their configurator app still offers all kinds of tractor chassis for the CF - 4x2, 6x2 midlift, 6x2 taglift, 6x2 midsteer, 6x2 tagsteer, and 6x4.
@@Invocated_Agitator Remember how in the video Stavros was complaining that he kept trying to move his head to get a better view angle in the mirror and it wasn't working because it was just a display rather than a real mirror? That's why. Digital mirrors do have their uses, no question - things like having increased brightness so that you can see better in the dark, the lack of wind resistance and the minimized blindspots; but traditional mirrors also have some good points like being able to move your head to get a different angle. I'm pretty sure that future generations of trucks will solve that using head tracking or something, to mimic the behavior of a mirror. Or, putting a zoom function that's accessible from the steering wheel or something.
@@Invocated_Agitator Talking to drivers about Mirror Cam (Mercedes), they complained about it being hard to judge the distance when cars are overtaking you, so you know when to pull out safely. Also they say that cars with LED headlights flash as they pass you at night time and it being hard to accurately reverse the truck at night. But my biggest thing is that you loose the ability to move your head to alter the angle you can see from the mirrors. Having said that, the view for the front blindspot camera was far superior to the blindspot mirror on my XF 106.
@@Winchester1979 Yea i was going through comments before Stavros complained bout the mirror. You can easily go over that issue with head tracking option that can be switched on and off when you need it. Doable even today without issues.
Great video Stavros. I am sitting here watching from Central Florida with two fellow ex pats. We all work for the same company. My mates nephew Anthony is Matthew’s friend and works part time for him. It’s a small world.🏴🇺🇸
Had it for 4 day overall I was a bit disappointed, u would need all the extras to sweeten the deal, the hospital type bed was great, only problem I found with it was a kept rolling out of it ,I needed the front suspension up and rear down to stay in it ,I think the mattress needs a stiffer edge on it
Would really like to see an update of the LF - I drive an LF every day (because my company cheaped out) and drove a CF today, the difference is night and day.
Totally agree about mirrors...glass for me ..I drove the Mercedes and got a mark on camera which got worse over time then couldn't see anything on the passenger side...love the bunk.
Great vlog Stavros. You are quite the best at truck reviews. I would certainly be happy to have any of these if I was still driving. You definitely need a slight hump in the middle then you can sweep out the footwells regularly thus keeping the cab clean ..imo.
Enjoy the work, Stavros. How expensive are the units? I have no idea as I have never been inside a truck. I have the highest regard for the transport community for the role they play in our society. They are unsung heroes. Would love a jaunt in a unit sometime Stavros! Make a video about it.
The truck is very nice and I really love❤️ it but I want ask that was the orange lamp fixed after market or straight from factory and how much is the truck. 👍
Need more information Matthew, did the fuel Guage stop working , or someone back into it ,we really need more information from you ,was it targeted by a Russia missile or something ,🤔🇺🇦🇬🇧
The engine brake stays on when u use the accelerator, so if u r in a hurry at a junction make sure u get that engine brake lever off or u won't beat the on coming vehicle ,the normal standard is the throttle pedal overrides the engine brake ,daf don't do normal
Great video stavros seen couple of these new dafs on the road.I drive the Mercedes actros at work and the flickering of car LED sometimes looks like flashing police lights I also find it difficult to judge the view in traffic.I wonder if daf the xf/xg mirror has resolved these problems..
Not sure about this next gen but the left turn assist on the older version is useless. As soon as you indicate left you have a siren that just constantly bleeps at you for no apparent reason.
Stavros, in terms of the braking system of this truck you drove here, spoke about the engine brake. Doesn't it have a retarder, or does DAF refer to the retarder as just an engine brake?
Nice truck...but I agree...that crappy piano black is a nightmare Makes me wonder though ...if daf are doing this well what are scania and volvo going to come up with next? Exciting times
Beautiful truck but the power is low with only the 12.9 litre and 530 hp top of the range is way to low for these days. If it was 15 litre and 600+ hp I would buy one. I’ll just wait until then for now Volvo or Scania are the heavies of choice.

I like how led lights cause the screen to flash and when there is a drop of rain on the cameras lens you get to see F all
Manufacturers need to start paying you for these reviews.. they are so detailed and awesome 🙂

Totally agree with the engine tunnel. I drive a new FH, and the small engine tunnel of 3 inches or so is perfect on our mucky job.
I dont know why DAF continue to send vehicles to the UK with double bunks as we don't double man in this country its locker space we need DAF

Do you still have to pull the exhaust brake on everytime or have they put it on an off/on switch like every other truck ever?
