The film indicates our history, thank you for the courage and determination to shoot it at last despite the numerous threats from Turkey. I found some connections with my grandfather's fate and life who succeeded to escape and now I am PROUD OF BEEING A SURVIVAL

Now we just have to wait for them to admit to the Assyrian and Greek genocide by the Ottoman Turks. Please stand with us our Armenian brothers and sisters. We need to shed light on all of Turkey's dark past crimes. We will probably wait another hundred years for our movie because that's the only way people nowadays will even pay attention to anything. Olivia Odisho With all due respect dear, the Greeks and Assyrians are not as active in getting recognition as the Armenians. Our voices will be much louder if we unite and fight for recognition together.

The movie mentions the Assyrian, Greek and Armenian communities, in that order. Go see the movie...Olivia, and then reconsider your comment. (P.S. I have been writing as you have for over 1.5 decades, but Ed K is correct, thee Greek and Assyrian communities are essentially less active per capita when it comes to asking for reparations and restitution). Now ISIS is attacking Assyrians and Armenians...the world is silent AGAIN.

ArmenianMusicVideos I can't wait to see this film. I am happy that this is a step in the right direction for all of our people and I do agree that more should and can be done.

I'm glad this film was made. Disappointed with Terry George for not mentioning that the Greeks and Assyrians were also victims of the same Genocide. It was 'turkey for the turks' and the Christian populations were not welcome. Memory eternal to all the victims.

True. But it was also out of nationalist supremacist hate towards ethnic minorities in the former Ottoman Empire. The Ottoman Turks thought that by eliminating ethnic minorities in their midst, including Armenians, Greeks, and Assyrians, they would unify all Turkic-speaking people that were living in the Russian Empire under a Turkic Empire. This supremacist nationalist ideology was called Pan-Turanism. Also, to prove to you that it was nationalist and supremacist in nature, the current Turkish Republic has been suppressing and oppressing the Kurds in Turkey for decades now because Kurds have been prohibited from speaking their Kurdish language and practicing their own Kurdish traditions. And I am sure they have no problem massacring and eliminating the Kurds in another ethnic genocide because of that extremely racist ideology that they believe in.

Bravo !!! love the film. Very real. It was how my gparents told me they live at their childhood. orphans at 9, 12 years old. They saw how turks violated and killed all their families. My Gp were survivals, we are Survivals! THANK YOU, Thank you Terry !! I´m from Argentina.they choose this land to live in pace. Armenians spread out the world after 1915.

This may be the first Hollywood movie on the Armenian Holocaust, but at least 2 excellent films have been made previously: The SkyLark by The Taviani brothers in Italy based on the genocide & Nous avons bu la meme eau from France (We drank from the same water), which is a documentary, by Serge Avedikian. giuseppe

I'm very thankful to Terry for making a film on Armenian Genocide and for discussing all of the other world wide genocides and shedding light on them. But I'm perplexed that he purposefully left out the genocide of the Serbs in Croatia and Bosnia (both in ww2 and in the 90's). He is denying that genocide with his own propaganda, just like Turks deny Armenian genocide, so he is the same as the people he is trying to bring to justice. Again, I am thankful to him for making Hotel Rwanda and donating proceeds from this film..just it does not fit as to why he is about justice but then denies a genocide in his own speech.

There was also a genocide against the Ishak/Isaac tribe (Idk if I am spelling both right) in Somalia under the authoritarian brutal regime of Barré in the 1980s that led to the overthrow of that regime and also the subsequent Somali civil war in the beginning 1990s. You can google about it online.

Im gonna tell every Turkish what's all about- some think that we did attack Turkey too - Ima tell you this - we attacked to protect our lands otherwise we wouldn't have been here. Other than this- do you guys really think that we got with the enemy? Hello at that time there were no government in Armenia also here's a thing! Your schools in Turkey had banned this story to be told as it is - they adjusted it to make it more relevant to be gullible that your ancestors weren't bad persons - another thing - if this massacre wasn't made i wouldn't be here in lebanon nor there would not be armenians spread in all over the world - its mentioned in the reports of Lebanon Syria and some other countries about armenians coming from their homes . Also as someone mentioned below in comments the barbaric stories in Syria are from Turkey how? Religiously doing their thing - building a mussulman empire / ill tell you this too i know its hard to check about it in Turkey since the government block every access of internet regarding this subject but its true armenians have been massacred also another thing - someone mentioned in the below comment christians forgive n forget... Sweetheart do you forgive n forget someone who took your home your parents and was trying to ruin your existence hello? Do you forgive forget someone that hurt you physically? Can you see your parents die in front of you? Or even your children... no of course... Rethink and be aware of everything before mentioning anything- thank you.

besides Bernard Lewis,an other american historian Stanford Shaw declines Armenian Genocide. That' why, his home was bombed by armenians. As is told before, many people died from both side but, it was not genocide. These sad events could not be called genocide. I disapproval racist expressions here.humanity and peace are the most important things. Not the events happened 100 years ago.

The Turks don't deny the tragedy that took place. Armenian population collaborated with the invading enemy Russian. The Ottoman government exiled people from their lands at a time when they had hardly any logistics to organize such a massive movement of people in war conditions. People perished of decease and hunger. They don't deny it. They say that they had to do what they had to do for self protection against and an invading enemy. There is no comparison between these tragedy and what Nazis did in Germany. Jews did not side with the enemy they were peacefully getting on with their loves when the Germans massacred them which is what is called genocide. There has been also Armenian attacks on Turks this is also documented. This is never mentioned at all.

Really!..... So may I ask if what the Ottoman empire did to the Armenians was in self defense why would they attack civilians? Why hang their women naked on crosses? Why sell little girls as sex slaves?
Dude it was 1915! Women back then especially peasants in villages were doing nothing but giving birth to children and cooking that's it!
Now you take them by force, sell some, hang others on crosses naked and impale the rest by swords and you call that self defense! The hell is wrong with you people!
Why? Just tell me why rape, torture and kill defenseless unarmed people?
They could have just left them alone in the dessert but that didn't happen or at least not to all of them !
Not everyone died by starvation and thirst in the Syrian dessert!
Like seriously I can't help but laugh at such ignorant comments..... You guys talk like we are discussing a genocide that happened in the seventh century or something!
You know we have documents from historians , photos and even confessions of Turkish soldiers who participated in such atrocities right?!
We even have multiple documents of how Turkish mayors and officials would speak to the current Armenian population in Turkey back then, they were very racist in their speech.
And it was crystal clear that they wanted to exterminate anybody whom they considered "unworthy" to live in modern turkey.... And that explains why they targeted not only Armenians but Greeks, Asyrians.... Etc.
Their target was any one who isn't Turkish and Muslim.
The Ottoman empire was desperate and angry for losing the war with the Europeans and the Russians (Christians) so they were looking for someone(also a Christian) to pour their anger upon.

To say the Turkish killed with no facts or evidence is of no value. This was long ago better to just drop it. Thought Christians were to forgive and forget? Anyway if people were killed or not they didnt speak up. It must be more complex than people were killed for no reason. 0

    • @aalexandrian
      @aalexandrian 3 роки тому +2

You never apologized so we couldn’t forgive, and you said we have no facts or evidence even though we do. ua-cam.com/video/r2zEqDOwzW0/v-deo.html and you’re right the Ottomans didn’t kill for no reason, they killed because the Armenians were Christian. That’s why it’s called a Genocide.
