It’s the classic “closing the door behind you” move that successful people like to do. He wants the roles for himself so he can’t allow any newcomers on the scene that could replace him.
I once heard Kurt Russell (IMO one of the great actors) talk about his "opinions" in an interview. He said that he believes that he should keep his personal opinions on things to himself. He said that he's an entertainer, and the moment he offers a personal position on real things, he is no longer entertaining the audience, and therefore no longer doing his job. I like that.
@@M.C.ThomasReviews Sorry what he interviewed Russell Crowe??? Where do I find this interview, or any other ones for that matter, this is the only one I've seen him do, I tried to search for it but nothing came up.
@@johnhughes2124 Ok ye I found it, thanks. Nothing else comes up on either of his channels when I search for "interview" though, has he done any other notable ones?
One of the best quips I ever heard was when Nerdrotic said “Stop giving money to people who hate you.” Whilst Ben and I don’t see eye to eye on everything, he clearly doesn’t hate me or my children. I’m happy to put my money into a company that is going offer a good alternative to the garbage that is out there at the moment.
And I'm sure Ben welcomes that. He's always happy to come to the table with people who disagree and try to win them over with ideas and content of character. I don't always agree with him but I appreciate the way he discusses things openly and respectfully.
Give us Indiana Jones (by another name). Just don't kill it with nukes and fridges, aliens, or too much sexism (a teeny taste could be okay for comedy sake). Make the person afraid of snakes to steal some of his thunder. But maybe also make him very interested in snakes. So he knows the make and model and how poisonous it is or isn't, but ether way he melts when faced with one! Gotta have that kryptonite.
The funny thing is, these people could've just not done any of this stuff, and we wouldn't know they hated us. They could've just made movies we wanted to see and quietly hate us in their private lives. We wouldn't be any the wiser, but they had to come out publicly and say it.
My girlfriend pointed out that Disney is discriminatory towards dwarf actors by not choosing to hire them in the first place, traditionally dwarf actors have a tough time in Hollywood since very few applicable roles ever come up and they’re usually for comedic reasons. Snow White is a rare case where it offers an underserved group the potential to make money doing something they love, acting. Disney’s current mantra seems to be selective inclusivity
In Dinklage’s defense his hope seemed to be that those shouldn’t be the only roles for small people. Fair enough. But he messed up when he implied removing those roles all together as though that would force Hollywood into employing these actors in other standard roles regardless of height. He should’ve just kept pushing for casting in other roles while not removing these roles all together. But he seems to see no value in roles that only small people could fill. Which is kinda like telling McD’s to offer $20/hour and instead of them just giving everyone raises they give a few raises and replace the rest with machines. But in this case Hollywood does away with the problem all together using CGI on taller folks to fill the roles or using 100 cgi all together. And the unintended consequences is people have less jobs rather than more. It’s the same with harvesting good stories from history. Rather than finding good stories from all over the world to bring to light and give opportunity, they give people sloppy seconds which is as insulting as anything.
@@admirallily Dinklage doesn't deserve a defense. He's a drunk pissy snob who thinks he perfectly walked the line of integrity and everyone should stay out to avoid the risk exploitation. The only credit I will give him is he is a fantastic actor. He really needs to focus on his strengths on his level and let the people below him do their things and trust they will mostly get it right.
Holy balls. The matchup i never imagined would happen but glad it did… ben and drinker. Drinker major props man. I remember finding you after the last jedi, a small youtube channel, now a monster of a channel, one man show, interviewing big names in media, hell when my fav podcasters who arent even in the movie scene mention “that funny drunk articulate Scottish guy,” makes me so happy for you. All the fame coming your way is well deserved. Cant wait for a drinker on jre podcast
As a Christian, I was subjected to bad Christian movies through my childhood. As such, I've become hyper-critical of stuff produced by "my side" because usually Christian or Conservative production studios don't have much money or couldn't be bothered by production standards because "the message is more important". Daily Wire has certainly done a better job than most and I hope they keep it up, improve, and grow.
It's truly a shame since if you look back at history, Christian art is amazing. The Bible tells us to do as unto the Lord in whatever we do, so we should be the most concerned with quality but as CCM vs the old hymns will show you we don't really do that anymore.
I think because they mostly tried to focus on theme instead of story. Most movies seem to forget that if you want to tell a story about faith, establish how a character goes through that, while showing the struggle to get there. As most movies usually have these issues resolved quite quickly, instead of giving the time to process a character’s ability to believe.
One of the reasons why Ben's very conservative family had annual passes to DisneyLand was because, once upon a time, Disney was very specific that they were wholesome and safe and cared about creating that sense of wonder and magic. Even for adults, Disney meant nostalgia and coziness.
Walt Disney was a Democrat turned Republican... things started to change at Disney after Walt died. Nothing can change my mind that this was on purpose with the approval of the Disney family.
@@redacted2275 That is how things usually change. Look at Tolkien estate. Tolkien's son was very careful to respect his fathers stories and legacy, he grew beside it, after he died the grandkids seem to have quite different view about the whole thing. Which seems to be quite often the case with generational things, one generation creates things and later generations then do not respect the legacy that much because they were never part of actually creating it, they just get it handed over.
@lostalone9320 .... 💯My ex and I spent 4 years running with a 3 day pass and the fourth with a 5 day pass / honey moon. The last time we went, turns out to be the last time I would ever go, and was back in 2011. Those vacations were simply magical, due to the world Walt had created. Were I to go there now to see a bearded man in a dress outside Snow White's Castle, I would find it EXTREMELY difficult not to call him out for it. I will never go there again 😿
@@TheWraith7It's not supposed to be the solution to Disney's woke leftwing nonsense. It's to give the people who love and appreciate classic Disney films a chance to see a movie that stays true to the original story and Walt Disney's value set. The only solution to save Disney from wokeness is to fire every single far left, insanity peddler in charge. Until that happens, Disney will have to continue self imploding from their own bad decisions until the entire empire falls. Hopefully, there's enough left afterwards to rebuild while adhering to the values that Walt Disney insisted on from the beginning and that made Disney into the giant it became.
I first started watching the critical drinker when I had covid, and through the past couple of years, not only have I enjoyed the gut busting laughs, but I've come to really respect this man for drawing a line in the sand against the insanity of the culture we live in.
Me too. I was pretty despondent during Covid and Drinker was such a great discovery. Had me howling with laughter at the Clown World we were (are) living jn. Devoured his back catalogue as did my son. Now, when anything irritates me, it’s a case of: “Fuck off, film”
Very nice interview. Two people candidly interested and excited about the topic, no awkward questions, no provocation, just tossing the ball back and forth. Well done 👍
Some will struggle to comprehend that these two people might not agree on many other things, seeing them sit at a table talking about stuff like this. I hope they don’t try for too long and just equate Drinker and the movie to Shapiro in stead. Otherwise they may need to go to the ER for brain bleeds, poor sods.
These type of comments are stupid. “Look at how two white guys who agree with each other on the topic being discussed didn’t get upset, unlike when a gay woman talks with a right winger who says they’re wrecking society” No shit they’re civil. What’s at stake for either of them? Nothing.
@@uploadinstuff Oh no...I'm sorry, but you're showing exactly what I'm saying. I'm not expecting to convince you here, but I want to make this clear: Drinker doesn't like Shapiro. He doesn't approve of many things Shapiro has said in the past. He doesn't agree with Shapiro. He agrees on this movie as long as it's not pushing Shapiro's political views. If Drinker was gay, trans, black, a woman, all of the above, the same should still apply in the context. Even if the subject was politics, the person who speaks from reason like an adult in stead of being annoying, purposefully provocative (like Shapiro often acts, yes), or angry, should be the one who comes out looking trustworthy in their opinions, because that's how it really does work. The people who speak from reason rather than emotion or malice, the people who can face the fact that others disagree with them without an outburst of hatred, and the person who don't need to impose their views by being loud is usually the one who's basing their opinions on reality in stead of their own tunnel-visioned wants. That doesn't even mean that everyone who's thinking healthily on a subject agrees on the subject, it means everyone who's thinking healthily on a subject understands that even thinking the exact opposite can often come from the same want to better the world, just based on different experiences. In this case it's different though, what the original commenter is saying is that Drinker doesn't like all of Shapiro's political views, but they've both maturely agreed to keep the politics out of it. Read the description if you thought he agrees with Shapiro on everything outside of this movie. He doesn't. That's just not what this interview is about.
@@coconutcore But my point is its easy to be logically detached when Shapiro is not attacking you every day. Eg if Shapiro went on his show every day and shat on the Critical Drinker every single day for multiple years, and had the actual power to influence society to not allow Critical Drinker to get married, to be in movies, to work in an office without being harassed, to not be able to buy food if the person selling him food didnt like his videos etc Do you think Drinker would be like laughing and smiling and promoting Shapiros new movie (that hasnt even come out yet... come on, maybe id buy he didnt support Shapiro if he waited to see it before promoting it)? Also this movie is a political statement. Drinkers statements that its all about respecting the material is nonsense when Brett Cooper has said in the past she doesnt like disney princesses and wasnt allowed to watch cartoons as a child.
I've only known of the Drinker for a couple years now, but to see how much his channel has grown and the respect Will has garnered himself as an interviewer has been really awesome to watch.
Whether or not a person likes The Daily Wire or agree with their politics, we have to respect that they are making something. A lot of people that complain about things being too woke or modernized aren't really making anything themselves. There's a saying that goes, "If you want something done right, do it yourself."
Totally. Left leaning individual here who literally can't stand listening to Ben Shapiro in most contexts, applauding him and the Daily Wire for standing up to the "themes over substance" stance that has ruined modern entertainment. Hopefully this competition brings these studios back on track, in addition to bringing new players into the game.
@@uploadinstuff it could or it could totally be a well-adapted movie that pays respectful homage to either the 1930s Disney film or the original Brothers Grimm story. I'll judge it on its own merits when it comes out, as should everyone else.
@@uploadinstuff He literally spelled it out in the video - he's doing it to take market share and provide people with the films they want to see. It's not a "spite film", the Disney film is a spite film, this is the Daily Wire realising Disney just blue balled a market and giving that market the real thing and not some hate film made by a dying, increasingly irrelevant, giant.
@@uploadinstuff Well, I have to agree that Daily Wire is mediocre and rather vapid for talent. Ben Shapiro is an awful, lying little neocon who brags about his money and grifts for getting the US involved in a war for certain people. I don't think a lot of people trust him regarding politics but it was nice of Will to interview him.
I think the most surprising part is that this is an in person interview, which either means that Drinker flew Ben Shapiro out to Scotland, or Shapiro flee Drinker out to America. That’s quite the trip for a rather simple interview EDIT: So it would appear that Shapiro was in the UK recently for a speech, so that’s probably when the interview happened. So, that would explain it
I think this interview is initiated/sponsored by dailywire. Dailywire is trying to advertise their hell-no-we-ain't-woke version of snow white and probably understands where its woke-hating audiences are. But I'm actually very excited to see Ben Shapiro as snow white.
the drinker was in the states quite recently so they probably set it up in advance or it might have been done on his recent trip to Croatia / Montenegro
I absolutely love your interview style, you keep things moving and ask good questions but you let the other person finish their thoughts and organically follow their lead with other questions. Rare and appreciated talent!
this has got nothing to do with talent or respect ... its simply the fact that they have both the same attitude. He knows he is going to like the answers before they are given.
Honestly, watching drinker do interviews is a lot of fun. He's well spoken even when not reading off a script and the conversations and topics are conveyed and talked about in an engaging and fun manner.
Because he’s an actual person who knows how to interact with people like an adult. Unlike most media and celebrity “journalists” who are looking for confrontation or to stir controversy for clicks and views.
I’m completely crazy about the interview location-is that Drinker’s place???? Because he talks like he lives in some dank empty bottle-filled, Glaswegian bachelor flat. Or is this Shapiro’s place in South Florida? It’s just that the windows look like very late or early 19th century windows with really old school hardware. Where the heck are these two? A hotel in Edinburgh or Coral Gables?? Where are these two????
@@badmother7615 I would say it is drinker's place, and his usual recording area is in his basement/mancave. Shapiro has been in the UK recently, he was at one of the oxbridge hell-holes talking to students
What a fascinating interview. While I wasn't expecting a conversation between you two I was expecting a live conversation even less! Thank you both for your hard work.
@@BrandonsGarage Difference is the Russel Crowe interview was just a part of Crowe's press tour for The Pope's Exorcist, he did them on a bunch of other channels. It was almost certainly a part of his contract for the film. So unlike Crowe, Shapiro probably actually wanted to be here lol.
I used to watch Ben a lot, fell off of it as I entered college. We don’t agree on everything, but I completely support this move. I have been dying for accurate, respectful portrayals of amazing stories. Disney has been killing my soul with their movies. I will 100% be doing everything I can to watch this movie.
Yeh Ben is a very divisive character. I love listening to him and he's done great stuff but sometimes his political and economic views shift heavily into his belief over the logic he displays for other things.
We don’t all have to agree on everything, we don’t have to walk in lock step on every issue. That’s what makes this country great, and what separates us from “the cult.”
I can't say I'll be watching it, but that's mostly because I don't care about these kinds of movies. I'd much rather have this version of it exist, however.
Same here, I'm one of the few liberals (I think) that watches drinker, and I can respect Ben for doing his own content instead of opening a cancel culture campaign to defund the opposition.
Great interview. It’s fine to see Drinker step out of his abrasive persona and deliver a respectful and insightful performance. I’m looking forward to an original Drinker script produced by the Daily Wire.
One of the things I appreciate about the Daily Wire is its stance against pushing one message. You'd expect a company focused on political commentary to make everything political, but when they took on Gina Carano to do Terror on the Praire, there was no messaging, just a decent western. Then Disney, on the other hand, despite being an entertainment company, regularly fires staff and writers who want to make worthwhile films instead of inserting "the message."
They should hire Gina again and try to get Adam Baldwin and make a "Cop Movie". We're LOOOOOONG overdue for a good cop movie. I'd be OK with a show too but I'm a movie fan at heart.
@@theoracle7175 Do you think that the Disney version will be much better? Any competition only has to be good enough to take away some of their rival's audience, which inevitably drives up the quality of products in that market over time.
Naive capitalist world view continuously disproven unless one looks away. Quality is just one possible attack vector, but the customers have to care about it, and enough to practice it in the system. Competitiveness is fear and spawns a myriad of manifestations of it.

Peter Dinklage: "I don't want to be in this movie, and only I can be a famous dwarf actor, so you can't cast any other dwarves in this movie". Disney: Okay, that seems totally fair.
that's what you call the leftist way of thinking, sort of how like they were going to give the blacks living in California reoperations for slavery. California a state that never had slavery...
Umm your forgetting the other dwarfs in GOT. When they were doing the reenactments @ Geoffreys birthday party. That was some good stuff there! In fact they would have been a better casting choice for snow-what.
I was concerned about the movie quality, until the kids started watching Runes on Bentkey and I couldn't stop watching with them. The storyline, characters, and animation are incredible. I will take the whole family to the theater to see Snow White. It's going to be GOOD.
We need more conversations like this. I'm sure that Drinker and Shapiro disagree on quite a lot, but they're still able to talk to one another. I also appreciate that Shapiro wants to offer additional choices rather than replacing things he objects to with things he supports -- let folks decide, particularly let _parents_ decide what their kids are exposed to and when.
I imagine the Drinker agrees with Shapiro on like 99% of things considering Shapiro is basically mainstream center right from 10 years ago. If you think Shapiro is radical in any way you have been lied to.
From Jermey’s razors (inverse of Harry’s), Jeremy’s chocolate (inverse of Hershey’s), BentKey (inverse of Disney/Nickelodeon) daily wire is truly genius. All these companies that are pissing all over once societal norms are literally giving them multi million dollar business ideas without even trying. All the power to Shapiro, Cooper, Walsh, everyone that’s combatting this junk.
@obrian-001 Yes, by Foxconn. I visited them in 2016 and was unimpressed with their honesty. I have a Samsung phone. They took production out of China in 2017 as their technology was being stolen by Huawei. Why?
I'm concerned with quality, because "not woke" is one thing, but my question is: is it _good?_ Because yeah, I'm tired of woke, same as most, but I'm also wary of a company who's bread and butter is political commentary first and foremost, and so even though they say they're making content without that stuff in it, it makes me wonder what they'll do without their bread and butter, because you take that away from them, then what do they have left? I'm not about to shut them down completely, but I'm gonna need more info before I can say, "Ah yes, I can absolutely get behind this. 👌" So yeah, for now, I'm skeptical, and that's all I'll say.
Yeah. It’s really impressive to have no original content but make a career out of simply saying the opposite of the opponent. America can stay equally stupid on both sides ensuring people like Candace Owens or talk show hosts remain employed.
Great interview! Cool to see you two together, but I think we need a sequel: you and Ben ripping apart the Star Wars sequels together. I would watch hours of that.
While searching for common sense in these woke times I found both the Drinker and Ben. Weirdly very satisfying to see them discussing issues with each other.
One of the things that infuriated and hurt my heart recently was a local gameshop I loved and went to religiously, openly ridiculing and cussing out (supposed to be a family friendly establishment) Bentkey and their work. They went on to essentially say everyone needs to accept trans and other sexual (and ADULT) issues or else they will be FORCED to. I want to have children someday and hearing this conversation at the table next to me by the owners of a business I frequented and imagined bringing my future kids into TERRIFIED me. The insane level of hatred and intolerance was nuts. I am so tired of everything being politicized into propaganda and force fed to CHILDREN. I loved and treasured my childhood and am so thankful it was like 90% free of premature exposure to explicit adult topics, themes, language, etc! And that is what I want my future kids to experience, a carefree childhood as much as within my power! I am so grateful for companies like Bentkey and Daily Wire making creative content that gives me hope that I can sit down to a movie or show and just breathe a sigh of relief and be given a mental break from all the political vitriol consuming our culture right now. ❤
Exactly. Movies used to be an escape from reality. These days politics is everywhere, you can't even watch a TV show without some political sub-plot trying to shame you into thinking one way against the other. I'd rather give my money to someone like Shapiro's team than to the toxicity of Disney.
I love how a newspaper known for pushing extreme politics is making a less political movie than the studio known for making children's films. What a time to be alive.

Awesome interview! Drinker, you’re moving up in the world… I can tell you’ve studied the etiquette of interviews and it’s paid off in spades. Continue interviewing those who can make positive changes, I’ve never seen Siskel&Ebert do what you’re doing now. Ben Shapiro is a great protesting capitalist-seize the opportunity for great content and get richly rewarded. Keep up the good work! And I want Dinklage to be “Grumpy” in your Snow White movie! He’ll do a good job in that part and he’ll be “Happy” with the paycheck!
I'm happy that it's not only a massive middle finger to Disney but also a way to create something that kids could watch without their parents wondering if it's some crazy political manifesto.
If the Drinker can do an interview with people like Russell Crowe, Russell Brand, and Charisma on Command, then he sure can do an interview with Ben Shapiro. It's honestly so unreal just seeing them chat together.🤯 Now I'm half expecting Drinker chatting with Brett Cooper herself.
What a crossover!! I’ve followed the daily wire for many years, and it gives me such a pleasure to support their films. I wouldn’t care what their politics are, I will always get behind any film studio that is dedicated to making great, blockbuster quality films with no political agenda or religious preaching at all. Just good film.
Another live action Snow White movie that I really liked was “Mirror Mirror” with Lily Collins and Julia Roberts. They made some plot changes, but the essence of the characters was the same and it was romantic and fun and one of my favorite movies ❤
We need more intelligent interactions such as this. Discussion without rhetoric and bias placed in proper context; positive analysis. Thanks for sitting down on this one guys.
Disney is not just insulting their audience. They are taking a 100% factor and pandering to the 3% who may be LGBTQ and attempting to garner a 100% gain from that 3%. In other words, it's f****** stupid.🎉
I honestly don't understand why Disney avoided casting Dwarf actors to play the most iconic Dwarves ever portrayed. In the original movie, they -- not the prince -- were the true heroes. They were successful business owners who owned their own home and they fought the Evil Queen to save Snow White.
Great interview! And I'm so excited to see how well Brett does as Snow White! Ben's take on the 'movie star' is spot on, and the example he gave of Tom Cruise is so accurate. Along those lines, Christopher Lloyd is the ideal movie star. He's talented, he can play a variety of roles, and he apparently vanishes like Zorro until he's needed to do his job again. And the best part is that he gets to keep his private life private and we can admire the hell out of him for his mad skills. Same with Val Kilmer who really is an amazing actor too who is barely heard from until he is in another project. Or he has bad health news come out. Here's hoping Daily Wire/Bentkey can provide the entertainment that people want instead of the current "entertainment" complex force feeding us twisted immorality plays and ordering us to be happy about it.
She's all they got so let's hope she's not just a pretty face doing podcasts lol... Not sure why they can't use outside talent except for the way they write contracts for those who work for them as made evident by the way they treated Crowder.
She’s not right for Snow White either. Snow-white is the most beautiful lady in the kingdom more than her stepmother. This lady is a little pretty but she’s very mid. The lady best adaption was the first few seasons of once upon a time.
Yeah, I was thinking about his take on movie stars not being political, but I thought it was ironic that he's saying that while literally using a political commentator as the star of their movie XD
Thank you, Drinker, for taking a few minutes and talking with Ben Shapiro. It’s a simple thing, but it was nice to listen to a simple interview with someone doing something other than the big budget “mainstream” story telling that sucks more every day. 😊
Whether you agree with Ben on politics or not it’s refreshing to see people attempting to tell the story people actually want to see. Gotta have some respect for people who put their money where their mouth is and actually try to make an alternative.
Ben is going to get sued for it if it’s similar to Disney animation version 😊 and by trailer it looks like there are similarities between them Ben did not read real grime book because in book from grim brother her name wasn’t Snow White she was referred to as just snow there is no way way make dark version from book for kids
Nobody is gonna watch either of them which makes this whole argument surrounding the movie so lame. People are just reactionary against anything to kill boredom.
Earlier this year I had a dream in which God let me know that he was the one that created Disneyland Park, and that it is NOT his will that Disney be destroyed.
@@sorryimsosad Ben clearly approached this as a businessman first and noticed, as many others have, that Disney has been intentionally sabotaging their own films for propagandic purposes. You should be asking why is no one else in Hollywood jumping in to compete like this, instead of all drinking the same Kool-aid.
Congratulations to Ben and Daily Wire with Brett Cooper making an honest movie of the original classic of Snow White. Society needs to hold on to its original cultural stories, not rewrite them to new political ideas.
I'm not a big Ben Shapiro fan, but I sincerely wish Daily Wire grows larger and larger, so maybe we can get quality mainstream filmmaking again. As a filmmaker, it really disappoints me to see what Disney is doing with Snow White, especially since the story is so symbolically loaded. I would actually consider the story of Snow White one of my foundational creative models. Snow White's mother drops blood on snow and soon after dies in order to give birth. So from the opening image, purity, life, and death are all inextricably connected by the relationship between blood and snow. Even an innocent girl can't avoid the blood of life (menstruation) or the blood of death. I'm definitely tickled by the appropriation of Christian symbolism and the Jesus paradigm. Though death and rebirth we now know is a fairly universal human paradigm. Fairy tales are pure abstractions. Snow is born of an archetypical holy mother and persecuted by a shadow mother. In Jungian terms, the evil queen would be the future shadow aspect of Snow White, unless Snow White experiences the proper journey. Plus the queen is augmented by a shadow version of the all seeing eye (like Sauron) in the form of a magic mirror. Snow White descends into chaos/nature as symbolized by the forbidden forest. In archetypical terms you could say she descends into a pure feminine sphere and needs the wisdom of the Wise Old Man archetype (split into a Biblical seven) to offer her proper guidance. She has to become a sort of mother to the dwarves before she can become a mother to her nation. The humility she gains from taking care of them helps buoy her against becoming the shadow of her future archetype. Once the evil queen discovers Snow is alive, she disguises herself as a hag, which also brings forth interesting archetypical layers. The shadow of the mother clings to the vitality of the maiden and in the process accelerates her evolution into the shadow of the crone. She hunts Snow down and fells her three times: once with a magic comb, once with a sash, and once with a poison apple. In essence she fells Snow with the feminine sins of vanity and lust/forbidden knowledge. Snow White is then placed inside a glass coffin, an anatomically suggestive bed, which furthers the story's sexual symbolism. Finally a prince arrives and seals Snow White’s lust inside a marital kiss. The animus balances the anima and lifts it out of the feminine chaos of death. With the archetypical balancing complete, the two ride off into eternity.
Didn't Snow White wake up because the dwarces dropped the coffin though? At least in the Grimm Version she doesn't wake up from the kiss but because the piece of apple lodged in her throat tumbled out when she got dropped because the dwarves argued with the prince that demanded "their" Snow White's body, the coffin slipping during the argument. But I do love how you explained all the motives! I never noticed some of the symbolisms and how they tie into christian symbolism/beliefs. Does the huntsman that spares her life and deceives the evil queen with a boars heart and liver also represent a special trope or symbolism too? Or am I overthinking it?
@@iraramirez9029 I'd say it's representative. I mean the queen wants to eat Snow White's heart; she essentially wants to devour the essence of the maiden who is 'fairest in the land'. On the coffin thing, it's tough to kind of lock the story down to 'A' single canon version because by nature as a fairy tale its been spread around so much. For example in the Grimm version I have, it's the prince's servants who jostle the coffin. But because the kiss element features in so many adaptations and versions, it's part of the myth 'enough' that I feel comfortable talking about it as part of the symbol web. And I praise it as a symbolic element for how it connects with the context of the apple. ^^
@@toycamera6112 thank you for taking the time to answer me. I really appreciate it! And on the topic of different versions of fairytales, it's fascinating to think about just how old they actually are. Back when they got written down for the first time there must've also been many different variations based on oral tradition, from which the most popular ones probably got selected and written down. In the end these stories are not only meant to entertain but also told to spread values, virtues and ideas of their time. This is such an interesting topic and thanks to you I grabbed my fairytale book again to reread my favorite stories and read between the lines.
We definitely live in a multi-verse. We now longer believe the mainstream media and I remember every week waiting for the movie reviews from Roger and Ebert. Point is, alternative media like the Daily Wire and the Critical Drinker are slowly becoming the go to for us normies. I love the cross overs … it’s unreal to see Critical Drinker with Russel Crowe, Nerderotic, Baggage Claim, and even Ben Shapiro. We all know good writing has left Hollywood, and is living in this multi-verse we call UA-cam and it’s content creators.
Don't let it go to your head, but you're not a normie. Normies don't read reviews. They consume in accordance to their current emotional state. Why do you think we live in a waking nightmare? Because the vast majority of people just go with what the government, the media, and their owners, the bankers, tells them.
I would agree that blockbuster Hollywood writing is in decline; however, there's more great movies coming out than at any other point in movie history. The problem is no one is going to support those movies.
Dude, my homie, my G-slice...Roger Ebert was one man. One portly man with a thick Chicago accent. Gene Siskel was another man. One lanky man. Two seperate men. One bickering duo. Lol Hey man, I feel ya though. Whether I agreed or disagreed with them, I usually could respect their opinions because you could tell, whether they loved, hated, or just just thought some crap was aight, it came from a genuine love of the art, and they knew how to talk about passionately because of that love and respect for the medium, which in turn, made many respect them even if they disagreed with them....well, and it was fun as hell to watch them get into it over what was sometimes weird a$$ disagreements that you would think would be minor but that sh!t just turns into an apocalyptic battleground with Mad Max dudes in leather clad black speedos swinging maces and spikey clubs at each other going for blood....but still, in the end, they kissed and made out passionately to make up afterwards...metaphorically speaking...and in my head canon. Lol JK, though I would have watched a Thunderdome match between the two. LOL Now you are just hated and racist or sexist or a transphobe or homophobe, usually all of the above, for the most minor of logically driven observations on reality. I'd be all agreeing with them, feeling all smart for my age for watching film critique and analysis then start hurling insults and profane discourse at my tv when they went off on a Friday the 13th film saying it's trash, which isn't wrong, but stop being so damn dramatic about my trash, beeeyatcch!!!! Crazy! It's like I was 8 to 12 years old...Oh yeah! I was at the time...and then I...matured into an adult. Oh my gosh! The Critical Drinker interviewing Ben Shapiro??? This is the interview I never knew I wanted until now!🥹 Great interview, Drinker and Ben!👍🌟
Anyone who’s watched Ben long enough knows how much movie knowledge and writing knowledge he has. I think drinker was slightly surprised at Ben grasp of the entire movie landscape and references he made. So glad they had a sit down while Ben was touring liberal nut case universities in England.
Ben is from southern California and if i recall correctly his mother worked in the film industry so he is steeped in it. He is a bit of a geek at heart.
Totally agree with Ben. I grew up as a Disney fan. My family lived in Orlando. I decorated my dorm room in Disney princesses. Now I refuse to buy anything Disney themed and won’t subscribe to Disney +. It hurts my heart to see how they have taken the magic out of our childhoods. Disney is no longer magical in their desperate attempt to depict their idea of realism. I don’t want my kids exposed to their nonsense. They get no money from my family any more, but Daily Wire will!
Fantastic video Will! Please, please let this be the first of many interviews to come. I'd love nothing more than to see The Critical Drinker empire grow with an addition of an interview based channel. Keep up the amazing content!
I do not always agree with Ben. But when it comes to storytelling as well as entertainment I agree that it should be protected and to call out assholes, hacks and sycophants for all the pandering and stupidity within Woke Hollywood today. Snow White is a timeless classic for a reason and that is it had people that gave a damn about the story that they were creating and that is something that modern day Hollywood has lost when they went woke as well as mixing in with politics.
I'd argue not changing stories and instead telling them in their original form is inherently conservative. The whole conservative movement is intended to protect things about your culture that you find timeless. Likewise to be progressive you would have to update stories to new values and beliefs of the current or future age
@@frankspeakmore7104 Hollywood also protected them from very vile things that they committed behind closed doors(Harvey Weinstein, Jeffery Epstein and many more) and when the veil came up that is when we say a lot of rot there. So in that sense social media did something good by revealing just how screwed up some of their celebs really are. I figured out some of them by writing a lot of magazines since I was around the 90s and social media wasn't a thing yet.
So is Ben going to reveal the world that he is the main actress in Snow White? Finally we can explain why we have never seen Shapiro and Brett Cooper in the same room together

Love seeing the Drinker as an interviewer with people within the same room. I hope The Daily Wire consider hiring the Drinker to write future screenplays for them. If he ever sobers up of course 😊 Great seeing you and Ben chat here 👍
Johnny Depp was drunk and stoned a better actor than everything nowadays comes on what disney casts....see how he handled playing sober in court! The same goes for the critical drinker...give him a good jug of beverage and let him roll
I love this man, Drinker and Brett Cooper's dad. 2 of my fav youtube people having a conversation. This whole, realness, values and objective thinking people slowely coming together, bringing these community's into contact with the other's content, ideas etc. is great. I'm so proud of the Drinker, great reviews, very entertaining and critical. I love it he gets more exposure. Pop culture is a reflection of society and politics as well, it should not be taken lightly. Plus it's our entertainment, to escape and go to other worlds, to see fantastical things, not to be preached and indoctrinated.
I signed up for a year of DW+ to show support for them making an Alternative instead of just whinging about it, especially after hearing Bret sing in the trailer. Getting a new Arthurian story out of it ti make up for Snow White/Evil Queen being potentially pushed back seemed like a win. I’d love to see DW (truly, any company) take a chunk out of Disney’s box office take.
"Shout out to my business partners Caleb Robinson and Jeremy Boring, who are really the guys doing the hard work, I just get to come out and talk about it." Imagine that, a company lead that doesn't try to take all the credit for themselves. Kinda funny when I think back to all them Apple conventions.
He told a story where he and Jeremy Boring thought Jeremy was going to be the face of the company and then Ben did his interview with Piers Morgan that blew up. They right away decided that Ben is the face and Jeremy would be the business guy.
Ben often does short movie reviews, and his take is sometimes very different than the Drinker's. I think they'd be a heck of a duo to replace Siskel & Ebert. And if I were ever going to make a movie, I'd absolutely run the script by the Drinker before the first scene was shot.
Great interview! Lots of very strong points made about how movie goers are looking for something Hollywood isn’t making. We will go where good movies are being made!
Kevin Feige wishes he could get an interview with Drinker. The bottom line for me is the movie needs to be good. It doesn't need to be the most astounding masterpiece in cinematic history, but it has to be good. If it is, I'll watch it. If it is not good, then even if I appreciate the effort to make an apolitical version of a popular fairy tale, I won't reward a failed effort with my money. I'm excited for CD to do a candid review of the film where he pulls no punches. Regardless, I wish the filmmakers the best of luck.
HOW DO YOU FUCK UP BLADE? jesus fucking christ, the first blade movie kicks so much ass,......3 lesbian vampires does sound pretty cool though, not going to lie
Best wishes on the launch of your classic "Snow White" production. The Disney Corporation has turned into a tribe of iconoclasts, pulling down any hero's or ideals once worshiped and constructing any idiotic piece of nonsense to take its place. You cannot easily dispose of Myths and Legends that have formed the backbone of our culture without expecting a slap on the fanny.
Great interview! I loved hearing the Drinker and Ben Shapiro chat about movies. I hope this format of one-on-one interviews becomes a regular feature on this channel.
I've always assumed Drinker was UK-based and given the framing of the camera I did catch myself wondering a couple of times early on if the set was digital.
Maybe Drinker can interview Brett Cooper in the not too distant future. Maybe around the time the film releases or even offers Jeremy Boreing some feedback & consulting or something. That would be better.
I will be showing the DW Snow White to my entire family, especially my grandkids. I want them to partake in a movie and cast of players that have morals. Brett will be a role model for millions of little girls from now until. I want that to be in my granddaughter's lives.
It's encouraging to see a studio go back and enforce the wholesome nature of the original character. The Disney movies of old encouraged and imo helped parents to instill positive values in their children and created a safe environment for them to be entertained whilst maintaining a high quality. This is new version from The Daily Wire is looking most welcome.
Great interview with a man on the right path. He seems passionate about what he is doing. Several times I had to check that I wasn't on 2X speed when he was talking. Keep doing what you are doing - both of you
The irony of Peter Dinklage, who became famous playing a dwarf character, criticizing casting little people as dwarves never fails to get me.
Literally costing other people with the same condition jobs. So dumb.
I remember seeing an interview with wee-man about what he thought. And he said it was stupid because they are taking jobs away from little people.
It’s the classic “closing the door behind you” move that successful people like to do. He wants the roles for himself so he can’t allow any newcomers on the scene that could replace him.
Only he can be the Hollywood dwarf
He pulled the little ladder up into that treehouse after he made his millions
I once heard Kurt Russell (IMO one of the great actors) talk about his "opinions" in an interview. He said that he believes that he should keep his personal opinions on things to himself. He said that he's an entertainer, and the moment he offers a personal position on real things, he is no longer entertaining the audience, and therefore no longer doing his job.

I don't always agree with him but I appreciate the way he discusses things openly and respectfully.
oh yeah unless u are leftist, muslim or non-cis - then he hates you and your children.

The funny thing is, these people could've just not done any of this stuff, and we wouldn't know they hated us. They could've just made movies we wanted to see and quietly hate us in their private lives. We wouldn't be any the wiser, but they had to come out publicly and say it.
@@jpineapple9495that’s not relatable to Ben and that’s incredibly odd that you do that. You should get help.
It's always highly selective inclusion by the idiologues
That’s the whole lefties mantra
I never expected this interview to happen. You actually had Ben slowing down how fast he talks. I never expected this at all. Great conversation.
lol he actually does speak slowly in a lot of interviews, he just goes nuts on his show and in debates
Yeah, same.
Disney has forsaken the parents. They are now interested only in your children.

Very nice interview. Two people candidly interested and excited about the topic, no awkward questions, no provocation, just tossing the ball back and forth. Well done 👍

No shit they’re civil. What’s at stake for either of them? Nothing.
@@uploadinstuff Oh no...I'm sorry, but you're showing exactly what I'm saying.
I'm not expecting to convince you here, but I want to make this clear:
Drinker doesn't like Shapiro.

I think the most surprising part is that this is an in person interview, which either means that Drinker flew Ben Shapiro out to Scotland, or Shapiro flee Drinker out to America. That’s quite the trip for a rather simple interview

Is the Gina Carrano movie on physical media? Daily Wire should look into getting a distributor for home video.
They should hire Gina again and try to get Adam Baldwin and make a "Cop Movie". We're LOOOOOONG overdue for a good cop movie. I'd be OK with a show too but I'm a movie fan at heart.

Ben's framing of the failures of Disney creating a market void is exactly correct. Competition incentivises quality.

True, wasn’t there rumours that Mark Wahlberg and some other actors wanted to make a breakaway Hollywood in Nevada?
@@theoracle7175 Do you think that the Disney version will be much better? Any competition only has to be good enough to take away some of their rival's audience, which inevitably drives up the quality of products in that market over time.

Ooh that would be awesome!
Nice deep analysis of the story --- so many things I did not even think of or were aware of . Thank you
@@thomaszanzal7846 Thanks for your comment. ^_^
Thanks!

Come here 40 year old NY Times writer, time for your bah-bah and butt-wiping. No shame. The leader of the modern free world you voted for has it done on the daily too, cuz you are a big boi, just wike the prezi-prezidents!!! LOL
@@RickGrimes-i3x Great men existed once.
Oh my gosh! The Critical Drinker interviewing Ben Shapiro???
This is the interview I never knew I wanted until now!🥹
Great interview, Drinker and Ben!👍🌟
Anyone who’s watched Ben long enough knows how much movie knowledge and writing knowledge he has. I think drinker was slightly surprised at Ben grasp of the entire movie landscape and references he made. So glad they had a sit down while Ben was touring liberal nut case universities in England.
"liberal nutcase universities"
Are there any other kind these days?
Ya, after seeing some of Ben's movie reviews I was surprised how observant he was about them.
So what happened with that shitty Gina carano movie?
Ben is from southern California and if i recall correctly his mother worked in the film industry so he is steeped in it. He is a bit of a geek at heart.
Dude defended justice league hard tho lmao. I’m not disagreeing with you either but some of his takes have been pretty goofy 😂
In that case Ben Shapiro should be an expert on calling out assholes because it takes one to know one.
@@ErikDayne Based on your comment you are expert on that front too. So what else in news, world is oblate spheroid?
I think Ben made a really good point about how Hollywood used to protect the actors. Now because of social media most come across as quiet punchable.
They were at the same room plenty of times on DW... I'd say the special effects to show two Bens on screen at the same time were top notch.
Good Lord almighty let this be true
@@redacted2275 people could do that 10 years ago in post, record multiple times and compose them to have 3 clones of you in the same video.
Nowadays it can be done with AI in realtime
Wtf is a Brett cooper?
Except they have done a lot of interviews together so…
Great interview and meeting of the minds. I'm impressed with Shapiro's knowledge of movies and TV, not to mention politics.
Great to hear two people with common sense having a discussion... Thanks!!!
Ben Shapiro DOES NOT have common sense.
@@acerimmer8338 You have to compare him to other Americans since hes American, and compared to most other Americans he is common sense personified.
Completely unrelated, but based Maho pfp
@@acerimmer8338 Oh for real? wow, all this time I thought he was actually very agreeable but you convinced me with your comment. I'm sure this guy who runs circles around people who actually don't make sense, doesn't make sense because you said so.
Such a normal conversation between rational adults. Haven’t seen that in this country in a long time. Hat off to Drinker for getting this interview 👍
Love seeing the Drinker as an interviewer with people within the same room. I hope The Daily Wire consider hiring the Drinker to write future screenplays for them. If he ever sobers up of course 😊 Great seeing you and Ben chat here 👍
Great idea! Would love to see that!
The drinker can write any screenplay better than any Disney or other woke writers while drunk.
Ben would be great on The Drinker's weekly "Happy Hour" as well. I could watch these two together for hours.
@@bluntguy9532 What about Friday Night Tights? Oh wait, nvm.
Johnny Depp was drunk and stoned a better actor than everything nowadays comes on what disney casts....see how he handled playing sober in court!
The same goes for the critical drinker...give him a good jug of beverage and let him roll
Ben's size compared to the Drinker's and in this scenario made me think of Frodo and Gandalf in LOTR 😂
Drinker interviews Extremists now who are EVEN in Hbomberguys climate-change-video that just igoes on and on simply listing known liars?!
"Those darn joos always rich and not poor"
"Bro all I did was make snow white in classic fashion"-ben
Who is Brett Cooper's dad anyway? Are you refering to the guy in Nerdrotic YT channel? 😮
"Brett Cooper's dad". That crossed my mind, too. Same eyebrows. Same rapid fire speech. Same black hair.
"Shout out to my business partners Caleb Robinson and Jeremy Boring, who are really the guys doing the hard work, I just get to come out and talk about it."
Imagine that, a company lead that doesn't try to take all the credit for themselves.
I like some of Ben's insights but strongly disagree with his movie takes and love CD's movie takes and I would LOVE to see this combo!
HOW DO YOU FUCK UP BLADE?
jesus fucking christ, the first blade movie kicks so much ass,......3 lesbian vampires does sound pretty cool though, not going to lie
make that a prn hub movie, leave blade alone
I wish Babylon Bee would do this movie. 😆
I think Kevin Feige would rather die than be interviewed by someone who would properly challenge him.
Finally someone who understands parenting and how to look after children.
The second part of that is true of the woke people too.
They know how to look after children better than anyone 😂
Best wishes on the launch of your classic "Snow White" production. The Disney Corporation has turned into a tribe of iconoclasts, pulling down any hero's or ideals once worshiped and constructing any idiotic piece of nonsense to take its place. You cannot easily dispose of Myths and Legends that have formed the backbone of our culture without expecting a slap on the fanny.
Great interview! I loved hearing the Drinker and Ben Shapiro chat about movies. I hope this format of one-on-one interviews becomes a regular feature on this channel.
Wow! Ben and The Drinker? This is not the Marvel Team-Up I was expecting but definitely the one we need!
Outstanding interview. And it's so good to see two people talking face to face rather than thrpugh a Zoom call. Well done!
Keep doing what you are doing - both of you
Oh, that's just normal-speed Ben, he talks really, *really* fast
Love that the Drinker is now at point where he can get higher profile interviews. Keep it up, good Sir!
Excellent interview and I look forward to seeing the two films go head to head, assuming Disney has the balls to release theirs.
