i've done several kits with this one since I got it and I'm happy with it, I like being able to monitor the temperature, thanks for subscribing!

Thank you so much! I have this iron and have been looking and looking for what replacement tips I need, it’s quite overwhelming

I order the tips from aliexpress, a lot cheaper, but takes a month to arrive, so I keep several on hand, the best way to learn the iron and how it works is to keep using it, adjust heat based on the size of the top, blunt end, subtract a few degrees, thin tip, add a few degrees, keep your tip shiny, that gives you the best heat transfer and keeps the tip coating from burning off, don't let the iron stand idle and heating while you work on something else, turn it off, it heats up really fast, so not real time penalty, follow my comments on solder pad coverage - I didn't do many soldering how-tos in the video, too many soldering tutorials on youtube and video was too long just going over the soldering station - thanks for subscribing!

    Two questions please.
So you mentioned if you keep the temp too high, that it will damage your tip. How high is too high?
Predominantly I'm soldering RC components so simple stuff. Small brushless motors, lithium polymer battery leads. Things of that nature. My solder joints normally hold well enough but they tend to be bulky and uneven. Any advice?

too high too long is very subjective, the key for me is to not let the soldering iron sit idle for too long without adding solder to the tip, if solder is not added, the solder will burn off and then the coating will burn off, this one heats up so fast, I tend to turn it off when not actively using it, to help with the bulky/uneven joints, heat up the wires/connectors and touch the solder to the wires, if the wires/connectors are hot enough, the solder should evenly coat the wires and flow down the wires, solder flows toward heat, so the bulky is a sign the wires/connectors are not hot enough, the wires are hot enough to melt the solder, but not to allow it to flow, I typically use a thicker/wider tip for wiring and a narrow tip for circuit boards, the thicker/wider tip allows more/better heat transfer to the wires, using a holder for the wires will keep them steady when the iron touches them, which helps with heat transfer from the iron - thanks for subscribing!

Do you know if any type of toxins are released from the heat element with the sleeve and tip removed?

no regrets at all, and I use it all the time, I do a lot of electronics work, and its great - shelf price is $125, but out the door price on a sale is less, depending on what sale is going on - thanks for subscribing!

@@snapwholeharborfreightreviews thanks for the reply. I think I'll definitely pick one up this weekend for fixing some little things around the house. 👍👍
