"Authentic German Buns with a Sweet Coconut Surprise!"

German Buns Recipe
Dough Ingredients
1/3 cup warm water
1/2 cup of warm milk
1 Tablespoon active dry yeast
4 Tablespoons Sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Sugar and coconut mix Ingredients
2 1/2 cups of fresh grated coconut (use dry ones of fresh not available)
1/2 - 1 cup coconut cream
3/4 cup of brown sugar
1 lemon leaf
1. Stir sugar on medium heat, add coconut cream and stir until the sugar dissolves
2. Add grated coconut and lemon leaf
3. Keep stirring to mix then turn off the oven and cool the mix down.
Method
1. In a jug add milk, warm water, oil and yeast
2. Stir well and let the yeast activate for 5-10 minutes
3. Once the yeast is ready add it to the dry ingredients
4. Mix well and form a dough
5. Knead dough and let it rise until double in size
6. Assemble the buns by adding coconut and sugar mix into dough to form a bun.
7. Fry them in a medium hot oil until they're nice golden brown.
8. Serve hot with a hot milk, koko or hot chocolate
Enjoy !!! (using fresh grated coconut)

Thank you for your feedback. To be honest this recipe we always fry them and I've never bake it before but I'm assuming it will be like a normal bake bread with coconuts in it. That’s a good point though baking them would probably turn out to be a normal baked bread dough with sweet caramel coconuts 😊
@@mealswithmilz I tried it and it turned out pretty good. Exactly like you said, normal baked bread dough with caramel filling.
So now I have options between baked bread taste and fried donut texture!

Hey Milz, how do you make the German buns with Fruit jelly in it? The same way?
Hi brother sorry for the late response I've been out all day and my phone died. I haven't made them with fruit jelly before. I only use coconut flakes mix with caramel sugar and coconut cream. I did see Rita making jam mini buns the other time which is the same way we make german buns. I hope I'm explaining what you're after brother. Sorry again for the late reply. Alofa atu🙏🏻❤️

@@TeineSamoaTamaPalagi I guess you can do both. you can fry them inject jam in with a pipping bag and icing tip decorater or you can add then roll and fry. There will be a process though if you decide to add before frying. You will have to freeze in ice cubes then add them to dough and close before frying. Hello my friend. They sell them now at Foodworld Mart in Laverton. They have heaps of them but they're attached to a smaller timber that you can put on a chair 🪑 and grate your popo. @@mealswithmilz theres something special when you make faiai fe'e and luau with freshly squeezed coconut, like the koga'i in samoa where there was zero short cuts but the results were 100% natural Sa cuisine , like mamoe in the rocks with the ulu, sorry sis Melbourne was in lockdown too long Upolu is calling 😂
