Now if only this thing would ever come in stock.

Late to this video, but can you confirm that your unit came from the factory with 8GB RAM? All I can find online is that the UNVR Pro has 4GB (same as the UNVR).

You can set it up by finding it on your network and using the webpage setup.

Would like you to explore different raid options available as well as streaming performance by multiple users.

Considering Ubnt's recent Cloud catastrophe knowing if it can be setup local only would be great information!

I actually liked the plug on this. It locks in.

Any video on how to change/upgrade from a UNVR to a UNVR-Pro

Hello again Clay, as usual, great video. That aside, having hard time drinking the UBNT coolade with the headaches that keep coming from limited supply, limited public support and the greatest reason to walk away, firmware antics. Now dealing with UCK2's that are fully factory defaulting wiping backups meaning full bare-bones starting fresh. As for the UNVR's, now dealing with unit claiming large amounts of storage/time recording yet far from it. Client is now peed off with the claim of 170 days yet we can only see back 25 or so before "End of Time" and no, I don't have time based purge on. As for these units, can't for the life of me figure the dullness of 7 drives instead of even eight or the lack of RAID control. 7 drives of RAID-1 or RAID-5 suggests low/limited performance. The UNVR4 is far from exuding performance. Strugles with 25 cameras (G3's) and 3 ViewPorts.
I don't agree on the love of the setup, too much dependance on having internet and cloud accounts. A dead-set PIA to setup gear when Internet access not available.....

I cant argue with any of ur points. I'm looking forward to testing its limits once i get it in the new office. I feel like Ubiqiti is really trying to simplify things and make good hardware (like an Apple) but struggling with how to position that in the market.. Supply chain issues are killing them too. I still really like the product and as i test other systems i still think it is my favorite...

From my experience setting up Ubiquiti gear, the only real issue is having to have an active internet connection but that seems to be baked into the protocol to make sure when the setup is being done, that the latest firmware is installed and not much more than that. I have never used a smartphone or tablet to (BT) setup any equipment as I always lug a laptop around and plug in directly (I'm old school that way) and it has gone fairly smoothly (knock on wood) so far.

    • @DPCTechnology
      @DPCTechnology  3 роки тому +2

@@FirstLastOne Yeah, the BT was cute but unnecessary.. This isn't really a consumer level device and most pros are gonna be just like u and skip it..

Hey great video, but please reduce your PC display resolution before capturing. That will help with us seeing those tiny fonts on UA-cam. Thanks!

Will do.. we are renovating our office (where I normally film) and it's the small details that I overlook when I'm at home.. thanks for the kind feedback!!

There’s another problem, Ubiquiti cameras are sold out. G3 Flex, G3 instant, G3 dome, and G3 micro are all out of stock in most places. That leaves you with the $450 g4 pro and G4 bullet. This has been ongoing for weeks if not months.

Just put a notify me when in stock and hit it when they have them. Works for me.

@@michaelbeaver4804 G3 flex came in stock with only 70 units for the entire USA and were sold out before I even opened the email that they were back in stock. Cameras are a critical part of the product ecosystem especially because Ubiquiti don’t allow third party cameras. Maybe they are impacted by the global chip shortage?

@@blackrockcity wow, that sucks, only 70 eh. Yeah I understand they want to sell camera's but man if you can't make them you might want to go another way.

I have a question I personally just have the Dream Machine Special Edition with 8tb hard drive and 3- g4 wireless instance's and its working good. Plan to install a unfi setup for a friend that is out of town a lot and wants 90days of recording. Also he will have 3 of the G4 bullets 3 of the wireless g4 instances. From another video it recommends 3 - 16tb hard drives, which is fine. I plan to add the NVR pro to his setup, but I'm unsure if all 3 of the drives should go into the NVR pro or 1 in the SE and 2 in the NVR pro?

If you do the NVR pro I would put them all in the NVR pro

Just got my NVRPro and 7 16TB Segate AI drives today. Currently using a NVR with 4 of the same drives. Have you tried moving from a NVR to NVRPro? Wondering if I can restore the pro with a backup file, use the original 4 drives with 3 new ones and keep my video history. Currently running 32 g3 cameras always recording with motion detection and smart detection on. I’m getting about 60 days of storage now and need at least 90 along with adding a few cameras soon.

Hi, could you please offer your opinion on the rack ear for the Pro. I'm interested if it's capable of properly holding the weight of the Pro fully populated with hard drives. Hopefully Ubiquiti will make a true rail for the NVR Pro. Cheers

Nice video, good detail but WOW, 61c for an internal temperature? Please tell me you keep your place really toasty and the AC is off. I'd be a little concerned about that temperature with only two drives in there just setting up RAID and no cameras connected. Did you find that temperature went down once the RAID was setup?

@@DPCTechnology Thanks! I usually notice most of the UDM-Pro run around 40 to 44c in rooms with the HVAC set to 22c but they only have the single HDD. My concern would be long term lifespan of the HDDs in that toasty environment.

Don't get too caught up on temps, they are measured on chip and not the internal air temps.

Normal UNVR runs on 56-61C and whenever it reaches 60C, fan starts and stops when it drops below it. While UDM Pro only has 43-50C temps, UNVR actually is more cpu intensive. I'm not surprised the UNVR Pro runs the same, its basically same hardware. Only difference is the 3 extra drive slots and 10 gigabit port, with the addition of the LED screen.

you could use an even higher resolution on your PC so we dont see anything instead of barely nothing. Come on, how hard can it be to get behind the fact, that most people watch UA-cam on 1080p?
