I don't have a planner but I like watching "plan with me" videos on UA-cam. I find them weirdly relaxing. You should do an ASMR "plan with me.

That's a really interesting story you have there. I recently started therapy myself. It wasn't suggested to me but I naturally came to the idea of perhaps I needed a planner to keep track of my tasks and to-do lists. I love using post-it notes because I too tend to use the planner more as a to-do list. I'm going to have to look up this "bullet journaling" now too. Thanks!

Definitely making a worry book this weekend!
Also it never occurred to me that my obsession with planning my time and making countless to do lists was based on control. It makes a lot of sense now and I feel like my life has changed for the better knowing that!

A tip for people who menstruate: I like to place a little dot with a red pen on the day it begins so I can keep track of when it started and I can look back for reference if necessary. Thanks for this video! I love watching people get organized for some reason, haha :)

I use the Wunderlist app on my iPhone because I hated throwing away all the cute to do lists I made. It makes a wonderful ping sound when you check something off! I break my household chores into which room of the house I have to do which task in.

I started bullet journaling (mine isn't exactly that either lol) last month and it has helped my anxiety and my time management soooo much. Another thing i've started doing is slowly creating a daily schedule for myself and sticking to it....it's just the beginning of the second week of trying to do this though so so far I just have a morning routine as soon as I wake up followed by ten minutes of cleaning. But I already feel so much more productive. :)

I used to be a painter but with school and work rn I just dont have the time or inspiration to paint right now. BUT, I invested in a happy planner around new years and I have been loving decorating it every week. It combines my love of beautiful paper products with my creative side. And it keeps me organized of course

  • @Aurriel

I actually use my planner for memories. So every week I sit down and decorate it, make notes of what happend the past few days, sometimes with quotes that inspired me or songs that I loved. So it's more like looking back than planning ahead.

oh thank hallelujah someone feels the day planner needs! I started using a day planner within the past year after being diagnosed with an anxiety disorder because writing things out that I needed to do or remember to tell myself helped me feel like I had more control over the outcome of said things. Not only has it made me more organized with other aspects of my life but it's also helped me a lot with planning things so that I can feel more secure that I'll be able to get through them. I find that cute ones can be pretty expensive (especially for a college kid) so this definitely helps for making one that fits my needs more without making my bank account cry (as it frequently does)! Thank you for sharing this with us!

Suggestion for another video: Could you maybe teach us some tips for calming your anxiety like a full length video and your experience ?? My planner is an extension to my soul. One time I lost my planner on a trip and for 3 months I was having nightmares about losing it, and I was completely lost without it. I bought a new one and my anxiety levels went down a bit but holy moly, I was on edge without it. It help with my depression. I get to plan and look forward to things and it makes me happy. I didn't know about the washi tape but first thing tomorrow I'm going to go purchase some! Thanks xoxo

I pick up a free planner from my uni every clubs fair... and then use it for three weeks and forget about it.
The one thing I have found useful is a whiteboard calendar. It has saved my ass from forgetting about assignments and exams so many times over the years, and because it's up on the wall in my room I'm always looking at it! It takes a little effort to update it once a month but it's also nice to see a layout of what my month is going to look like and how busy each week is going to be, and it's a lot less day-to-day work than a planner.

What I got flustered by when I was looking for my newest day agenda is that all of the cute ones were never set up the way I like or weren't guaranteed to start the month I needed them(I always start mine in June), so what I decided to do this year was find a really cute journal and draw in my days similar to how Ang shows in this video. I like doing the "DIY" planners cause they can look and work exactly how you want!

I just recently started bullet journaling but I don't do it every single day. I have to say though, it's nice to know exactly where my notes are at all times and I have a place to keep important dates. I am like you, if it's cute, I'm more inclined to keep up with it! I have washi tape, colored masking tape, stamps, pens, markers and super cute post-its. Not sure where you live, but I've been keeping an eye on the stationary and office supplies at Target because their stuff is so cute and totally worth it when it goes on clearance!

I use the Passion Planner and I looooooooove it. It helps me to see the bigger picture of where I'm headed with my goals bc of its reflection sheets, so I don't feel so depressed + lost in life. It helps me not to forget to take care of myself, by creating separate lists for personal and work to-dos. AND it prioritizes those lists (weekly and monthly), which is super helpful as someone who is easily overwhelmed.
I really like using it as a part of DBT as well. I make notes of different mood swings, and since I can see how I've been spending my time, it's easier to determine what caused the mood swing. Doing this also helps me to accept myself and my failures, because I own up to them in my planner, and try to make the layout cute anyway. Along with listing the good things that happened that week, it makes my life feel more cohesive and whole, instead of fragmented memories that I can't make any sense out of. I am so 100% behind planners for mental health. I'm glad yours helped you too.

Writing in planners and journals really helped my anxiety a lot. Sometimes, I worry about things just so I don't forget something or do something that I planned to do wrong. If I write down what I'm gonna do and how to do it, I don't have to actively keep it in my mind.

Great video Ang! I got the Get to Work Book at the beginning of the year and I love it, especially the fact that it's really goal/project oriented, and the simple/minimalist design really fits with my aesthetic.
I also wanted to suggest reading Getting Things Done by David Allen. I have a LOT of issues with anxiety, and his approach in the book is basically to implement a system that you're able to completely trust and thus alleviate the worry that you're going to forget something. I haven't put every single one of his ideas into practice yet, but I already feel so much better about not missing or forgetting things since I read the book. It can be a little dry reading at times, but there are some great ideas there!

I always tend to use a planner for a few weeks and then just stop suddenly.
For this year I bought a really nice Moleskine Planner with one day per page and I have used it almost every day since I started using it!
Things I know I'll have to get done I write down with a little checkbox next to it, appointments and such get their own big box so I can see easily if I have some time to spare around it.
My to do lists get written on post its that just get moved along... if I complete a task I cross it out on the post it and write it onto the page with a checkbox and tick that off.
( Btw, my therapist said I should keep track of what I'm actually doing, because I tend to beat myself up over 'being lazy' when in reality I do what I can, so I can see what I'm actually doing and be aware of it.)

At least I was never late or forgot anything! Then I stopped using one... maybe I should get back into it.

I am not organized at all. Trying is exhausting, and never lasts long. My mom however is super organized. She used a day plannee every day for almost 30 years, until she retired, and still makes a point of jotting something down every day. It's such a great history of my family. She has reminders about big events, lists of what she got everyone for Christmas every year, her various thoughts on stuff that was going on, etc. If you are disciplined enough to do this, make sure you keep all your old ones.

I do the same "do-to-list" as you do, I wish I could post pictures of my planner here so you could see :D
    So much fun! :DDDD

I actually got the same planner after watching this! I really liked how you got to pick the starting month and It was impossible to find someone who shipped from europe that offered that option ... I might be a bit too picky with layout...

Damn you make such pretty and relaxing planner layouts! It looks tedious to make a planner layout every for every week, though.

I have an Erin condren planner and I looooove it. it's a weekly hourly layout which is perfect seeing as how I'm a full time student and have a part time job. My washi tape collection has grown so much since I first started planning lmao

I love this video! I love how you turned your notebook into a planner. That's genius, haha. Thank you so much for posting this! I definitely needed it. xD
