I didn’t expect Gangnam style to be the biggest song of every year since 2000, but putting it in s tier every time is deserved

The other day i thought it was june 2026
as someone who doesn’t rly listen to rap and just watches for the goofy guys this is awesome bc i actually know stuff
yes
I feel that
there's a very similar channel to this one with pretty similar dudes called hivemind unlimited that's kinda cool too where those guys talk about all kinds of stuff, they're slightly less funny than graydon and riley from hivemind but they're still funny dudes
@@AnthonyHirsch i refuse to watch hivemind unlimited out of solidarity for riley and graydon. cant believe people would stoop as low as to copy their channel and not even try to hide it. smh
literally
In all seriousness the chemistry between you guys in this episode was off the charts
but this episode was ON the charts!! there are several high caliber bullets hidden on my person.
Ok but my uncle makes a crazy good casserole
similar to the weight of dignan when he appears in my dreams, off the charts. it’s so scary
@@Timothy-sy1fw unasked for?
ok so what did you do on the 23rd of october 1999 in yugoslavia?
A 1999 to 1981 version sound very fun. We don’t see much talk about the 90s or 80s on this channel, except for the sample series. Im interested to see their thoughts on older stuff, like MJ, nirvana, or Guns N’ Roses.
Oh yeah that's gotta be the next tier list, would be a good one. could even be a biggest songs of the 90s tier list and a separate one for 80s, but that would be a fun vid
i mean what is there to be said that hasn’t for those artists at this point? everyone knows they’re great. idk.
Tons of other creators have very similar content about the 80s and 90s not everyone has to
Yes
Yes! I'm so glad somebody else said that so I didn't have to. I didn't wanna wander in and be The Old Lady like "has anybody seen my teeth around here?" as I hobble around on my cane...
...but one of these videos, with their style and sense of humor, FULL of songs that _I actually know_ instead of just the occasional one, would KICK.
Praying Riley doesn't get over the flu 🙏🙏 it's time we let Graydon and Dignan on full time
Having Graydon and dignan together in the same episode could be devastating if seen by the general public
Having Graydon and Dignan in the same episode would lead to catastrophic results in detroit
The thing about Heat Waves is that it almost feels like you grew up listening to it. it’s some tastefully modern 2000s cute club song type vibe.
Graydon's take on Heat Waves is extremely valid, that song is catchy as hell
graydon needs to listen to literally any other glass animals song (respect the opinion though)
The poison is real
@@elifishwhat but the whole album is doodie ass fuck fart
@@elifishwhatI am obsessed with glass animals and got kinda hurt by their opinion, but honestly Heat Waves is different from all their other songs.
@@falcon_arkaigyeah they’re easily a favourite of mine, dreamland as a whole sort of made my year, but hey it’s not for everyone
Legitimately cant believe Hey Ya wasnt on here somewhere, it suddenly hit me at 2000 that it'd never been said (even in the runner ups)
This is one of the best most entertaining Hivemind formats, PLEASE continue it, can't wait for those 40's bangers
it's a goat goat way to LiTe 'RaRi
I would watch the FRICK out of videos in this format with other decades. I don't care what direction they do the list in--best, worst, funniest, Best Cover, whatever, just bring on the music I actually know! :P
(Yes, I am hecking old. But seriously, these guys + classic stuff would be awesome.)
in all seriousness levitating is such a good song and i’m happy that you guys gave it such praise. i feel like it’s gonna be one of those song that people my age (17) will look back on with a massive amount of nostalgia, on the level of how people of that generation look at like In Da Club. It was the soundtrack to every 2021 school dance in the western world. Speaking from experience, jet fuel cannot melt steel.
Im ngl this got me
I’m fucking 20 and hearing that was the biggest song of the year made me realize I really don’t listen to music outside of the artists I listen to but it sounded good so I’m defo gonna give it a listen
@Joesmith 925 Dua Lipa is definitely one of the best pop artists in like the last 10 years if not longer. I dont listen to stuff on the pop charts typically but she has a ton of tracks in my rotation.
graydon said in another vid that he got the dua album for Christmas
What school had a dance in 2021?
I’m genuinely surprised Pumped Up Kicks wasn’t in the 2011 top 5. That song was EVERYWHERE then.
Such a classic man
absolute fucking banger too
torches was a great album, that song introduced me to indie when i was 11
Same with 2002 missing eminems lose yourself, the lists seem a bit off tbh
@@lure7812 yeah that album is still in my top 10
I’m going to admit a secret i’ve rarely divulged.
I was 12. It was New Years. Thrift Shop by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis played as #1 on the yearly top 20 countdown on my local radio station…my life path diverted. I was OBSESSED with Macklemore for the next year and a half. Every song up until that point, I knew by heart. I can still hear White Walls echoing in my nightmares.
I illegally downloaded all his old mixtapes and convinced myself I liked them... we don't talk about 2013
White walls went so hard
You couldn't torture this info out of me
Wow, the song for 2001 was just plane catchy. I'll never forget this video. Love you, Hivemind!
I’d give this comment 9 out of 11
Banger comment, you out here droppin bombs
this about to blow up fr
not a single clever pun...the replies are two underwhelming
this comment got me dead fr
Based on some of the facial expressions from Riley, really wondering what Graydon’s hidden hand is up to under the table
oh!
ayo?
Probably holding a gun
FOR REAL I THINK THERES SOME "MASTURBATION" GOING ON!!!
??? freak
I really enjoy it when you guys talk about pop occasionally. I love the rap/hip-hop videos, you've introduced me to so many artists I wouldn't have thought about before(smino). But dipping your toes in other genres is always a great time. Do the nelly bracket!!
NELLY BRACKET WOULD BE FIRE
NELLY BRACKET NELLY BRACKET NELLY BRACKET

Weird to see Crazy Frog’s “I Like To Move It” as the biggest song of every year since 2007, but pretty cool I guess!
Didnt expect Graydon to claim that LMFAO is the predecessor of Daft Punk
Wow, I did not expect the hit movie “Ferris Bueller’s Big Day Off” to take up every spot, but hey I’m here for it! Doorknobs are not for consumption.
Loved the chemistry guys, it reminds me of my brother that I totally didn't push off the historical cliff in Mississippi!!
A historical cliff?
there are historical things in mississippi?
@@riley2243 dawg i had to give them something they have nothing going for them
in all seriousness the biology between you guys in this episode was off the charts
I am really surprised Lil Dicky only got 7 different songs on the list, but nonetheless, all of them being in S++ only makes sense.
Insane that every song is Mr. Brightside but I fuck with it respectfully.
The silence after “R. Kelly” 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I wanna see a bracket where Riley and Graydon pick their 32 top songs of all time and put them against each other. I would like to see this after the YBN Nahmir bracket that consists of 64 renditions of Soul Train
Please keep these going can’t wait to see you guys do billboard hits from the 1400s
Levitating really grew on me since it came out. I strongly urge anyone who hasn’t heard the version where they delayed the vocals by 9 seconds to do so. It’s a whole different experience
why’s graydons hair lookin so luscious in this vid
Of all the hivemind jokes my autistic brain has had to fact check, I didn’t expect “TikTok pastor says he went to hell and heard demons torturing sinners with Rihanna's 'Umbrella'” to be an actual thing
results?
Can't wait for part 2 of this video in 2044!
I can’t believe Coldplay’s only entry on the charts was the Chainsmokers song when Yellow exists, that is a travesty
Graydon's dance to "Irreplaceable" had me feelin some type of way. Powerful stuff right there. 👏
As a guy that does listen to country music occasionally I had a good laugh at Riley asking if Luke Combs did body like a backroad and Graydon calling Tyler Childers Tyler Childress 😂
no literally just came searching for someone else that noticed 💀
graydon mispronouncing his name was such a roller coaster of emotion lmao so happy to hear his name in a hivemind video then he said childress
Before even watching the video I can say Somebody That I Used To Know is absolutely S tier. Flawless songwriting, flawless lyrics, perfect vocal performances, immaculate production. It’s so iconic, so catchy, so instantly recognizable. It has one of the best samples of all time as well. You really couldn’t ask for a better pop song. It makes sense that Gotye never had another hit because how could he possibly top that song?
Great to see Ed Sheeran getting all his songs in S tier
that puzzle bit is too goddamn funny omfg love the random bits between it all :D
I love the image of "Umbrella" being the song that plays in hell like for some reason the devil heard that tune in 2007 and said "this is the shit I'm blasting from now on"
Also maybe we judge the devil like what if he just plays it not to torment people but because he likes the song and he’s just having some fun
@@eliasmsv3156 the devil is a metaphysical incarnation of evil that transcends space and time, and it listens to Umbrella
@@1998Cebola my apologies, it slips my mind sometimes
You guys should do a tier list for every Grammy winning rap album of the year (and album of the year too)
How is Born this Way not in the top 5 for 2011 that song was played everywhere also it’s fantastic as hell
A little surprised Gold Digger and Candy Shop didn't make the top 5 in 2005, they were at #1 for like 9 or 10 weeks each iirc, We Belong Together was at #1 for the longest, but I don't think 1 2 Step even topped the chart
it amazes me how enjoyable your content is and yet you guys are still small yall really deserve some recognition
as someone born in 2004 i wholeheartedly appreciate the shootout thank you so much for the love riley
But I'm dissapointed in graydon for not clapping when everybody else clapped for us
I'll come back to this video whenever i need to be cheered up
uptown funk really is so universally liked, that's pretty amazing
i miss when yall showed the chart, it fed my brain in a nice way to have the visual
uptown funk was the first song i recalled hearing a song Too Much. my school made us (MADE US) learn a dance to it and then proceeded to play the song at every event we had. that and the radio burned it into my memory. ngl its still a great song and deserves its praises, but it will NEVER come close to the way riley made me feel on that famed night in Tokyo in '93
Hey guys, you get me through my workday. Been watching y’all for the last 6 hours and this just dropped in the middle of me rewatching the Tyler bracket. Keep doing what you do. 💅🏽
nelly bracket is gonna go crazy on hivemind unlimited in two weeks
This was such a blast of my childhood and teenage years, holy shit. I remember playing one of these songs on repeat so often my friend smashed my cd player. Amazing. Some of these are kinda trash but the nostalgia drags them up to an S or A, I remember being driven to various sport competitions superrr early before school or on the weekends and listening to these on the radio.
The fact that I've lived those years yet don't know the majority of the songs or artists (well, I do know most by name, but I can't connect them to any music) is borderline impressive.
I love your brackets cuz I discover so many songs I haven’t heard, please do more!
you guys have a real future in the industry ahead! thank you for the hiveemind thank you thank
I got so confused when riley sang that lyric from yeah! cause I didn’t remember it at all and then I got curious about where it was in the song/ the context (bc, like, what came before “a so-called “oops,” I guess you caught me” ??) so I looked it up and that lyric isn’t in the song at all. so now I’m just- Still Confused.
I think he was talking about the line “I got so caught up, I forgot she told me” cuz he’s saying it in the same rhythm haha
Daym - y’all boys HILARIOUSLY cool!
I love Greydons big WIERD, and mustacheRILEY’s big FACTS.
Keep it up.
Y’all remind me of what was Fresh about pitchfork in the late 90s- saying whatever you want about music!
I swear I wish I could find someone to edit my videos like yours amazing as always
Love from Rochester Hills! Great as always 👌
graydon looked like he had a lot of fun in this one
God please keep going also idk if u done this yet but do a cartoon/tv show opening song tier list that would be so swag i did not do it let me talk to my lawyer
PLEASE do more of these 😭 as someone born in 2000 this was like listening to my entire life in reverse lmao
Y’all should fr do a 1920-1950 top music tier list
It's crazy, I was 1 in 2004 and I know every one of the songs from that top 5. To me that shows their power. Also, In Da Club was #1 the month/day I was born.
I haven’t finished the video but this was the perfect thing to finish the night with. Thank you Hivemind
Please do this for other decades, can't wait for the 90s one. Also, a Nelly 16 song bracket would be awesome! Great vid!
I'm 25 so I can actually remember all of these songs playing on the radio and that's nostalgic as fuck for me
really looking forward to the Paul Simon produced O Rod project
Return to this! I want to see all the good music from before the 21st century! As a kid growing up only listening to my parents music, there's a lot of gems hidden that far back that have aged beautifully, would love to see you guys discover some of that
This video really made me want to hear your top 50 songs of all time!
Wow, I couldn't imagine THAT many people getting Rick Rolled that it was the number 1 song since the year 2000, but here we are. Kinda confused why you ranked it F in 2009 though.
I’m so proud of riley for coming out as a nickelback fan, we still love you despite your trash music taste
Nah that song is just straight heat, every second of it
That song is easily an S
The creating scabs from scratch bit 1000% will be on future “best of HIVEMIND” compilations on UA-cam. Nicely done.
i manifested that y’all were gonna post today
Why was Heat Waves so big two years after it came out? It was one of my most played songs in 2020 but didn't notice it being big last year
It's actually really funny or really cringe but a minecraft fandom blew it up
This song first appeared in the first week of 2021 slowly rising in the chart, reached the top 20 fall that year, and only hit the #1 during March 2022 where it stayed there for 5 weeks, it doesn't leave the chart until like during fall 6 months ago, the song now currently hold the record for the longest song to appear in the hot 100 chart with 91 weeks of it hovering there, beating out Blinding Lights with just a week, I'm not joking
(Btw sorry for this nerdy as fuck paragraph lol)
As someone who doesn’t really like pop music, I love this channel because it’s showing me how to appreciate some of these songs. These guys actually know what they’re talking about in terms of music and they’re funny and entertaining
Yeah man most of these songs are hard to sit through. Glad they're doing it so we don't have to
i didnt expect to enjoy a 47 minute long video about justin bieber's "baby". also, u guys should do a best movies of all time tier list :)
i was and still am obsessed with vertical horizon that shit is Delicious. it’s definitely the nostalgia talking bc my mom listened to them all the time in the car but i stand by the everything you want album as being genuinely so good
Everytime im so amazed by how good their music knowledge is like wow
imagine if the billy ray part on old town road had been like willie nelson
Loved this video, please do more !!
Low is probably the easiest s tier for me after somebody that i used to know. Like the fact that its still playing at clubs all the time is insane to me. That shit came out when i was still in primary school, and here it is still being one of the biggest songs of any given night at any club or afterparty.
Every glass animal has its thorn, dignan.
please do a 90's tier list!
Didn't expect a Vulfpeck moment on this channel but I'm here for it
I think a pottery gym actually sounds like a great idea. Might need some ironing out, but I'm sure somebody like Diggy could set up a competitive establishment. I might have had something to do with the 1954 Guatemalan Coup D'etat.
Quite surprised to see Party Rock set as number 1 for all the years, but other than that this is a pretty solid tier list👍
As someone born in 2004 I can confirm it was a banger year.
41:44 HELL YEAH GUYS PLEASE DO A 90S HITS TIER LIST THATD BE AWESOME. 46:15 it was so fun to watch fr. best songs imo were somebody that i used to know and rolling in the deep but thats probably cause i aint that much of a pop fan i mainly dig all kinds of alternative rock but i still love watching yall guys cause we can always agree to disagree right
Never thought I would hear a Childers reference on this channel, don’t sleep on Timmy
As someone who was born in 2004, thanks Riley and Grant
Keep your head on a swivel Graydon
I was shocked that Get Lucky wasn’t anywhere on the 2013 list, that was like the song of that year
Blurred Lines was more popular 🤮
This is such a good video i love you guys im so proud to be a hiveminder
This video uncovered so many dusty nostalgic corners of my brain I’d forgotten all about, thank you❤
I can’t tell if they are like 23/24 years old or like 27/28
Happy is the musical equivalent of microplastics
And for that Faith Hill song “Breathe” at the end, I feel like Lil nas was also inspired by her in that Star walkin song
Here are my rankings:
S - Blinding Lights, TiK ToK
A - Thrift Shop, Somebody That I Used to Know, Boom Boom Pow, In Da Club
B - Old Town Road, Rolling in the Deep, Low, Bad Day
C - Levitating, God’s Plan, Love Yourself, Irreplacable, We Belong Together,
D - Shape of You, Heat Waves, Uptown Funk, Yeah!, How You Remind Me, Hanging by a Moment, Breathe
F - Happy
Levitating is the epitome of Commercial music
grants laugh makes my day better every time i hear it ❤
u should totally continue this series
Fun Fact (that probably everybody knows):
The original melody for Old Town Road is a track called 34 Ghosts IV by (my favourite band) Nine Inch Nails. Ghosts are a collection of instrumental tracks from 2008
An Industrial band founded in the 80s still having that much influence today is in my opinion incredible.
I am glad that we all have collectively decided that somebody that I used to know is just a certified hood classic
