This was one of the calmer episodes, with nice scenes of Priss not moping around being very vaguely suicidal, and a minimal AD Police body count. By the way, Leon did not use "an RPG." It's so stupid to think a live remake would be better than the original animation. Just look at Gunnm remake; despite its massive budget didn't give any extra quality to the story. Same with the live version of Ghost in the Shell, and I don't even speak about Disney's live remakes which are total junks. Do you think Akira would be better in live action film than in anime ?
While this chase scene in BGC is definitely awesome. The Riding Bean OVA by Sonoda (same creator) is almost entirely a chase scene of the same caliber. :)
That's not an RPG, just a bullet-trap grenade (usually fired from the end of a rifle, but Leon's signature hand cannon probably has more power than most rifles anyway).
That would be Moonlight Rambler, and at the end Leon realizes that Priss is one of the Knight Sabers, though he does pretty much keep that secret to himself.
In the 80's, when you put this much effort into Animation, you made damn well sure you had a good characters, good story and good direction. Modern entertainment is a lot easier to mass produce, and they just make a few concepts and stick it together like a video game.

I miss this style of anime plus the 90s it had a real feel to it plus you can tell they put everything they had into each scene now it just feels like nowadays they just cut corners.
I need to watch this. that vibe is just uncanny.
If you haven't seen it yet, I for one totally recommend checking Bubblegum Crisis out without any further hesitation. It's one of the best.😊
I haven’t seen this in like 20 years
Great!!! hey bro do you know in which anime from the 80s or early 90s there is a girl/woman that turns out to be an andrid but when she discovers that she tears her face to reveal a helment like face with no features and the she suicides??? I have been searching for that cartoon a long time I think I saw it in 92 or 93
I think this is the real inspiration for the Yaiba Kusanagi in Cyberpunk 2077
I'm getting some serious Akira animation vibes from this...
This NEEDS to be made into a live-action movie with Guillermo del Toro directing. With a budget so massive it makes other directors cry.
It's so stupid to think a live remake would be better than the original animation. Just look at Gunnm remake; despite its massive budget didn't give any extra quality to the story. Same with the live version of Ghost in the Shell, and I don't even speak about Disney's live remakes which are total junks. Do you think Akira would be better in live action film than in anime ?
As quadruple thumbs up awesome the animation is, can you image how swoon worthy it could have been if it was live action?!🤩☺🥰
@3:08 That's 279 km/h or 174 mph folks.
While this chase scene in BGC is definitely awesome. The Riding Bean OVA by Sonoda (same creator) is almost entirely a chase scene of the same caliber. :)
This was my favorite episode in the whole series, they kind of sort tried to replicate it in the 2040 remake but it was no where near as good as this.
that IS a great scene. Classic.
Such an inspirational episode. The poor guy just wanted retribution for what happened to his love. It just got out of control.
Revenge usually does end up going sideways.
One of the best car chase in cyberpunk anime | Bubblegum Crisis (1987)
The fact that this came out in the 80's is mind-blowing.
Love this anime Bubble Crisis and Police A.D
Does anyone knows the name of the song? It is really good!

@@christophersummers1939 Thank you so much!!!
A High tech suit with stiletto heels? Only in anime Lmao
This show was so based for its time. Glad I have the whole series on vhs.
I just love how Leon conveniently has an RPG in his pocket.
That's not an RPG, just a bullet-trap grenade (usually fired from the end of a rifle, but Leon's signature hand cannon probably has more power than most rifles anyway).
the most amazing part? The sound design
"Midnight Rambler" is my favorite episode.
That would be Moonlight Rambler, and at the end Leon realizes that Priss is one of the Knight Sabers, though he does pretty much keep that secret to himself.
And that’s how the idea of the Christopher Nolan Batman tumbler was born
Animation holds up very well. I say the original is better than the newer one.
This could with the right script be an awesome Live action!!! Been saying it for decades.. LOL
In the 80's, when you put this much effort into Animation, you made damn well sure you had a good characters, good story and good direction.
Modern entertainment is a lot easier to mass produce, and they just make a few concepts and stick it together like a video game.
A prowling cat , hard-boiled dog, and motorcycle mechs
Amazing OAV from a golden era of anime, now put the music ( nowhere fast from meat loaf) and you get an intense 80's vibe...
1991 at 9yrs old DBZ was my introduction to Japanese manga, weeks later Black Magic M66 was my introduction to japanese video, thats when we found a blockbuster with anine and BGC was the first video i rented and fell in love with. Akira was too much for me. Here in 2024 just enjoying the memories. Yall grew up on SpongeBob. We are nothing alike
Some of the sound effects sound like sounds from Janes Canerons Alien movies.
'I'm going in for a closer look' - last words of every ADPolice helicopter pilot
They sure don't make anime like these any more. Rocking music, great stories and characters, and awesome visuals.
