Brandon Vera is a perfect example of what Steroids can do for a Combat Athlete.. he got beat up in the UFC, left and went to Asia where they don't test for Steroids, and extended his Career by 15 Years!!!! Not only did he fight 10 or 15 years after he washed out from the UFC, he was Champion!!!
Interesting, didn't know he went on to fight but I ran into him at EDC a couple years post his ufc career and i remember thinking this guys on the sauce now lol.

For those curious, Gordon did admit to taking TB500 in one of his Texas vlogs from Flograppling, where he visits the clinic run by his friend to collect his BPC-157 and TB500 supply. TB500 is considered a banned substance by all the major sports organizations (as far as I know). Of course, in addition to TB500, I suspect he takes other peptides that increase testosterone as well as TRT I think. Only the TB500 (and BPC-157, which is allowed) is confirmed by him on the video, while the rest is just conjectured by me.

TB500 is not an androgen. His physique at competition isn't a TRT physique, it's more of a 200-500mg weekly plus maybe an oral. Gordon sort of admitted when in an interview he said his team is known for not using steroids and then he walked it back and said something like "well, not as much as other teams". That one pic from a few years ago where he was huge and crazy shredded is more of a Tren look but I don't know if he would bother with something that harsh. TRT doesn't allow you to go much over 1000 mg/dl when you get tested. That isn't enough to get way bigger than you naturally would. 500mg weekly will put you around 3-4000. TRT is not a cycle and isn't magic. Going against Andre he had to be big because Gaval is a monster. In recent videos he is smaller, maybe natural? Or cruising on a small amount?

Peptides don't increase testosterone as they aren't androgenic. There are peptides that increase Growth Howmone though. TB500 and BPC157 are known as "repair proteins" and are literally just used to increase recovery rate and to speed up recovery from injuries.

TB-500 is not a steroid. It's a peptide that increases blood flow to soft tissues to accelerate repair of injuries and such. Might give you more endurance, but it doesn't have a known effect on androgens to my knowledge. That being said, I'm almost certain Gordon Ryan is on things that do affect his androgens lol

I don't think it's ever been states explicitly, but it's about as close to it as possible. Lately in a lot of his IG posts and replies, he essentially admits it without doing so. Someone asked the other day, "How good would you be without gear?"

Why do I have more respect for people that go natural even though some one on gear is better. This is not a dis on people on the juice but my natural instinct just naturally admires people that go balls out hard without gear. The idea of someone going to their limit and grinding hard with out gear always fascinated me more. This is not to disrespect on people juced up at all!

The Diaz brothers were pretty successful without taking steroids. Nick does or did triathlons and is a vegetarian.

Rogan being open my minded is why I still watch ( other than the guests and subjects). He says I think bodybuilding is still a sport, but understands there are different perspectives. I actually think that according to a strict definition it has to not be a sport, or everything is, but saying both sides is legit.
I don't really get the hate on the guy, unless you despise drugs or some of his takes on certain things he's a genuinely open minded dude willing to change his mind if evidence presents itself and he seems a good guy to be friends with also 🤷♂️
I think there's a really big point about the steroids in BJJ issue that gets overlooked. While it is technically true that there aren't explicit rules against it, and that they don't test, the overwhelming majority of PEDs and basically all, at least in the US, used in Grappling are Schedule III substances. So, unless the people taking them have a specific medical prescription for them, it would be illegal to do so. Therefore the rules don't really matter as taking them would be illegal and you wouldn't be allowed to do so even if the rules required it.

I'm only pointing out, as I stated in the original comment you responded to, that the rules DON'T MATTER in the case because the action being discussed is ILLEGAL and therefore would be prohibited by law. Even if you were being given a plate of steroids by Mo Jassim himself and told to take them, it would still be prohibited because the laws of the country take precedence over the rules of some sporting event. Do people break the law and not get caught? Sure. All the time. Just like people break the rules of a sporting event all the time without getting caught. That doesn't change the fact that those actions were prohibited and you still broke the rules/law.

Still to this day, the unacknowledged elephant in the room is the fact that steroids are now, and have been for a long time, AN ABSOLUTE NECESSITY AND A REQUIREMENT for sporting excellence in almost every sporting endeavour where the financial rewards for success are considerable.
Top athletes and sporting stars know that the best coaches are the coaches who best know the ins and outs of fooling drug tests by making sure their clients only use the right compounds and at the right times.

I’m from the United States a big fight fan I live in the Philippines ONE championship is just as big as ufc and in the smaller weight classes I think their champions beat a lot of the UFCs And they have world-class Muay Thai fights but in 4 ounce gloves

@Lawrence I don't know what percentage of the sport is juicing or not, but everyone isn't. There are some despite being at competitive disadvantage that choose to do it clean. It's just convenient to say everyone does it cause there isn't any regulation that can say otherwise. Still respect the guy skills.

Well, duh, I knew that the first time I saw one of his pictures. No one gets that jacked and does jujitsu for a living, ( a high calorie burning activity,) without taking PEDs. So, IMO, he's really not the best, since I'm sure at least some of his opponents have not been using. Tired of PEDs.
Problem is not everyone reacts the same to steroids (also depends on how good your pharmacist is). Just because Gordon is the best on gear doesn't mean he would be the best off gear. So there's always a little asterix when you call him the GOAT
People respond differently, because some have more androgen receptors in the brain. The more receptors the more you respond to anabolic steroids. It has nothing to do with the quality of gear.

I had no idea grappling was an openly dirty sport. I mean you can see Gordon is jacked but I think the sport loses massive credibility. No way the sport will take off mainstream while it has that approach. And striker or no striker no wonder the guy doesn’t want to go to ufc. Probably lose 20lb in muscle in no time off his cycle.
It's completely the opposite. Drug free sports are a scam since it punishes the people who actually are natural. Grappling is much more fun to watch this way as well.

Gordon Ryan should never be considered the best if he can't do it without steroids. He has turned down matches where his opponent would be tested for steroids. He is afraid to compete with gear. BJJ is a dirty sport, Gordon Ryan should help clean it up.
No doubt Gordon Ryan is the best in no gi. Going to the UFC as you mentioned where there is striking changes the dynamic. He isn’t claiming to be the best MMA guy or a strong striker. With the money he is making I don’t see a point in him going into the UFC or some other MMA combat sport. If he does well it doesn’t prove much because he is already the best at no gi. If he gets smoked, it can only affect him negatively. He is doing great where he is, Why change it
