- Found this beautiful gold nugget while out metal detecting in Australia's Golden Triangle. It was only an inch down in a well hammered area!! Goes to show that there is still easy gold out there for the taking! Thanks for watching and subscribe for more gold!

Hi. Really enjoy your videos. You find some great nuggets. I have had an SDC for about 3 months. I have started to ignore the Screaming targets as they have always been junk for me. Do you dig every target regardless of the screaming nature of it? The big gold nugget in the video above did sound very loud. Do big gold nuggets ever blank out with the scream like junk seems to? I am thinking that I need to get back to digging every target regardless of the scream

Gday Silverlicious, The small stuff gets melted but larger nuggets like this are better sold as is to collectors. They fetch a premium as they are less common. I keep my gold in a safety deposit box at they bank and am saving it for a rainy day. Cheers!!
Thanks for the answers. That makes sense about the larger pieces with the premium. Also, good to have those pieces recorded on video as proof you found and own it. I'm sure you have the deposit box well accounted for, maybe even on video inside the bank vault for inventory purposes. All the videos and photo documentation you've done adds personal sentimental value to your collection and journey. I enjoy riding along.

How often are you out prospecting? I try to get up to the gold fields for 1 weekend a month, but the stuff you find is amazing!

I have the opportunity to buy an X-Terra 705 for $169 or a Vanquish 440 for $349 here locally in Rockhampton Queensland. What are your thoughts on that for a first detector?

I was going to ask how you knew it was a shallow nugget, and then the pinpointer came out. Can you sometimes tell from the signal's tone?

Yeah mate, the 1 oz nugget i found a few months back was deep, and you can tell the difference between the 2 signals . This was a screamer!!
@@JayGoldNuggets Wouldn't a massive nugget deeper down also scream the same way, or would the sound of the scream be different? I'm just curious what an experienced ear hears that can determine depth and size from the sound. Is there a way to know a screamer is huge and not just shallow?... besides of course digging and getting happier the deeper you dig.
Maybe I need to listen to the tones a bit closer.
Gday Mark, A deep target has a more broad "low then high" signal., but these vary greatly depending on the depth, size shape etc... a shallow big target makes the detector overload like it did in this video. A perfect example is in the 1oz Club vid i uploaded a few months back. That is a very nice deep target and the detector made a textbook "low then high" signal. The sweetest sound a detector can make. I could listen to it all day!!! Cheers, JG
