Its just Hammond in a regular sized Engine
LOL 😂😂😂😂
Guys, I think we've found Clarkson's secret UA-cam account 👀
Came here for this comment lol
Can he also sing the feme tune?
Clarkson is that you?
"If the crankshaft goes we're done" To be fair when the earth is done that crankshaft is probably still floating around in space.
Pretty sure I could watch Hammond, Clarkson, or May do anything.
Noo... please don't say anything
do you really mean that? 😵
Not so sure about May!!😂😂😂
He is a gifted presenter. His incandescent delight is unfeigned. That young engineer adored that Hamster actually grasped and marvelled at the engineering. Not a word about the superheating of a fuel that is solid at room temperature and is banned from being burned on land. The last fraction, the heaviest oil.
I want what you're smoking bro
All makes perfect sense to me, which bit did you think was high lol@@the_bacon5902
No. BITUMEN is below heavy oil.
"I honestly feel like I've been shrunk"
So basically what it feels like when he stands next to Clarkson?
Too right. Jeremy is a full 6'5 while Richard is a full foot shorter.
You have to hand it to Richard... because he can't reach.😂😂😂
Rumors say Richard was offered a job in the engine compartment because he fits in it so well
No no no... the world has experienced enough ship crashes recently... keep Hammond away 😂
I’m just impressed by how pristine the room is
This is absolutely fascinating! Seeing the inner workings of such a massive ship engine up close really puts into perspective the incredible engineering behind these vessels. Richard Hammond's enthusiasm makes it even more enjoyable! 🚢⚙
Whats even more incredible is how key and critical their roles are in our globes economies. These ships are huge ecomomic drivers they generate so many jobs and generate so much money
I saw this kind of stuff on US cable Discovery Channel even back in the 90s. Old Hat
Whoever did the drawing @4:16 clearly knows nothing about engines.
hahahaha this is soooo bad...
Oh, em, gee. Hey, the piston disappeared into the cam shaft!
The more I look at it the worse it gets…
Mehh, it's not like this channel is engine related, so it should be fine.
so do 99.99% of those watching
This ships has twin engines which are smaller than the "Emma Maersk's" biggest engine (when built).
How clean that engine room..can't see such a neat one in any of the vehicles😃😃👌👌
the shaft puts all others to shame
if you need a shaft that long, you've got a problem that cannot be fixed with extensions 😂
Hammond is so short he could walk into a Moped engine without bending over. 😂
Honey, I've shrunk the Hammond!
Amazing engineering and fabrication, tip o the hat to her builders and maintainers. Bravo gentlemen
Top gear is my childhood. So anything with the trio is interesting to me
I used to love working on these
It's hard to imagine grinding that crankshaft down to the correct tolerances needed! I would love to see that done!😊
Richard Ur the best engineer teacher
😁 can we please put a giant turbo on one of these and get same day shipping xD
Average car does 10 thousand miles a year? YA WOOOTTT! Maybe in England but here in Australia I do OVER 3 TIMES that.
AVERAGE mate
Maybe because its Australia?
Reminds me of my US Navy days as an On Scene Leader.
Everyone loves a tryer
This is the definition of "I can fit that in my miata"
The modern containerships engines are a lot less powerful than those from 15+ years ago. The Maersk E class had a single 109k bhp beast. The first generation had similar hp steam turbines, and could do well over 30 knots.
Probably some emissions BS forcing it. I know they're worried about the emissions on the container ships now
He dissed that poor 4th engineer lol
The drawing at 4:15 seems a bit off.
yeah lol, tf is going on there
2:02 - The Now Machine YT channel has a video "Incredible Crankshaft exchange on the cruise ship" which is truly incredible. Dry dock not needed.
Ye we got Malayalis running ships ❤
4:17 Who made that drawing, AI? 🤔
Found this very interesting 👍🇦🇺
Danish ship, owned by a family run company, founded by the grandfather in 1904, Danish designed engine. The last chairman ran the company until he was 98., the ship is named after him. The escheduled replacement for her will run on methanol. The first smaller ships have already been lauched.
Yes.... But will it fit in my Miata?
To be fair the engine wouldn’t need to be that big for Hammond to walk inside it😂😂😂
I'd love to spend some time in the engine room in one of these ships!! :)
Very interesting -- it would be nice to know the name of the ship and who built the engine.
you can all thank denmark for these amazing big ships. the Mærsk brand itself, is a Juggernaut
Obviously it is a sum of all components. Like the fantastic Wärtsilä engines powering up these beasts.
Crankshaft? Dry dock 😂😂
Let’s swap that engine into a MX-5 Miata
Changing the oil must be a huge job.
We keep on topping up the small quantity of the oil time to time, not changing fully in one go👍.
@@gursharansingh9087nice! Large mining haul trucks have an automated system for removing used oil and adding fresh to save on full oil changes. Didn't know that about ship engines. On the trucks It gets added to the fuel tank and burnt off with the diesel. Is it the same on the ship?
I think this filmed for Discovery channel three years ago.. !
I would love to work on those engines...
Hmm, might fit in my David Brown🚜
Who else is here after watching the sequel?
✋
If I were to do this in my car, I’d have to shrink myself… in half
Honey I shrunk the Hammond. Wait he was already kind of shrunk.
Como debía ser la madre que pario ese bloque, sencillamente monstruoso!
now this is how a mouse sees your cars engine bay
Where can I watch the whole thing?
This engine needs speeeeeeeeeddd and powaaaaaaaaaa
Now lets rev it up to 9000rpm
Hammonds the same displacment as my engine
How many hp?
Wish he'd walk into it
This Engine needs Chiptuning😬
Who is the cleaning contractor????
Any engine is gigantic next to Hammond
Richard Hammond shrinked 20 times.
That my friends, is what we call the planck length.
How big of a Nagasaki Noisemaker do I need @ how many pounds of boost?
Would it fit in a mx5
I bet I can fit that bad boy in my Miata
Shrink 20 times heh? Cmon mate at the most 5 times hey?!
I wonder how much diesel it takes for one combustion cycle 🤯
How far was he off 25rpm?
Will it fit in a miata ?
wonder how many quarts of oil this thing takes lol.
Quick someone turn it on
2:50 42,000 HP!!! .. And not like a drag racer's engine, One race wonder? ... they can keep up at over 30,000 HP, literally for weeks, or perhaps even months!!!
The reason that dragster engines have short lifespans is because of the amount of power being exerted on relatively small parts that are made of lightweight materials. Put 4 top fuel dragster engines next to this ships engine and see the size difference despite the 4 top fuel engines combined make the same amount of horsepower as the ship engine.
With Hammond for scale, for all I know this could be a 1.6L
Hammond inside an engine? Must be a 2.5 V6 than at minimum.
I thought hamster always felt as if he’d been shrunk?
Tadi dalam laman ni ada sisipan Cia.
So basically a civic engine if hammond can walk in it.
The Francis Scott Key Bridge came down because they let Hammond drive.
And they never change the oil on it. Just filters.
Yeah so a hobit can fit in a ships engine. Can a person?
Hammond in Vespa engine.
Why no cc?
Too big use liter instead
High volume areas everything is huge. They heat and cool the living quarters i bet.
Wouldnt a turbine generator cheaper at this point?
I wish the fellas went with him so we could listen tonthem roast hamsters clever scarf
Evolutionists say it assembled itself
you think we can engine swap it with a supra
This vessel doesn't have the biggest engine. The biggest is a 14 cylinder one, a MAN's 12S90ME-C.
What about Wärtsilä-sulzer RTA96-C?
@@williamekman426 For some reason i get shadow banned.
the biggest engine is waertzilla not man.
@@carholic-sz3qv Not anymore by displacement.
@@carholic-sz3qvWärtsilä
I feel bad for Richard, he does decent TV work but his former coworkers are making some of the best shows out there. But kudos that he still tries.
This was in 2020
I would rather watch this.
Clarkson is insufferable.
I'm sure he's not complaining, he lives in a castle after all.
The producers were clever. They offered him money.
If you're going to do a video about large marine diesel engines, why didn't you pick a large one?!? The largest marine diesel engine in the world is the Wärtsilä-Sulzer 14RT-flex96C (aka WinGD RTA96-C). It's twice as large as the little engine in this video. It has 14 cylinders with 96cm bore and it puts out over 107k horsepower.
Increase in fires! Electric cars perhaps?
Should talk about all the emissions pollution, the ships create,
Or talk about how much more efficient ships are, therefore less pollution they make, compared to all other forms of transport. Cars are much less efficient so if you're worried about pollution, sell your car and walk/ride/take public transport.
Calculate the emissions per kg of cargo per km travelled and you will see this is the most efficient way of transport we have, not considering nuclear powered ships
Here we go.... ffs...😂😊
Greta is that you?
Lol.
This was great until the rndin showed up.
My congratulations to the person who did the drawing of the engine at 4:15. You have the confidence of a 4 year old wearing a batman t-shirt to put that up for everyone to see. DISLIKE!!
🗨️🌉
Stolen video.
put it in a miata
Man, this guy is annoying
no he is not
wont be running these on woke batteries
At no point did Richard Hammond walk inside an engine in this video.
What a great title. 🤡
