Fun fact: Angelica was already married when she met Alexander.
Yep. And had two children by that time (and will have had six more). She eloped with her "not a lot of fun" husband. Turns out, John Church was a pretty ok guy. He had even dueled with Aaron Burr in 1799 before it became mainstream. And both Alexander and his son used his London-made Wogdon dueling pistols in their duels.

The poignant thing about this song in the play is that after the rewind, we're seeing Angelica's true feelings in those moments she's recounting; most of the actresses playing generally keep the sad expression throughout the final verse to hit home she's wishing them luck, but she's really torn up about it.
At first I didn't know how I felt about you keeping up the facade during the "To the groom, to the bride" part...but then when you hit the "And I know...", you came back at the end and ripped my heart out with the sadness in your eyes.

The emotion you got across the second time you said "to the groom! To the bride!" was on point, it sounded like you were going to cry for a second, which is fitting as it's after her flashback.
