@tomaandkile It's not that simple. The mic would need to be re-mixed for his voice. If the batteries died, that is a quick fix. But anything else is a little more complicated.
I can only assume "CALL ME SON ONE MORE TIME" came from the Hamilton actor having legitimate problems with his father IRL there is no other explanation for how purely and inconsolably furious he sounded
The "throwing hands at the ambassador of France" made me lose it. Combine it with Hamilton's "while you were off, getting high with the French" in Cabinet Battle 1, and now I'm imagining Jafferson high af trying to beat the shit out of himself, while Lafayette is just rolling on the floor from laughter.
The reason Eliza and Maria are played by the same actress is because she's married to the actor that plays Hamilton in real life (they're young, but not minors). According to a girl on TikTok that knows them the church is super strict about dating, to the point where they don't allow handholding in a romantic sense before marriage. That's why they had her play the two women Hamilton is romantic with.
@@DeathnoteBB yes but the original comment itself was a joke, so by adding your own actual opinion makes it seem like you just don’t understand the joke
that poor kid playing Burr probably WAS fighting back the tears. I can only imagine the horrendous anxiety of having to perform in front of a huge audience with little preparation AND without the vocal skills to do your own numbers! I hope he's ok...
If he's anything at all like I was growing up in this kind of church, he's severely traumatized by stuff that doesn't have anything to do with stage fright or vocal skills. When I was roped into a similarly disgraceful production as a kid, my abusers were in the audience.
Illegal Hamilton doesn't even feel real, this feels like a morphed version of Hamilton that my brain would create in a fever dream, only for me to wake up and immediately forget 90% of it.
38:13 The fact that the song after this has Hamilton taking his kids to church and saying "And I pray, I never used to do that before." Which can be read as him finding God through the tragedy and just completely removing all subtlety and agency from Hamilton's character and just having a priest convert him ham-fistedly is very ironic and funny.
I dont even blame these kids. You can't encompass a character when you aren't portraying the story properly. And this is a HARD show to do, directors should've recognized that its not a show they were capable of doing.
The point isnt to make it a great performance. The point is to have fun and give entertainment to the audience. This guy is taking church plays too seriously. Its a cover. Relax. its all kids just doing a church play after all. Churches dont have a full time actors group after all.
@MattH123 maybe they shouldn't do a two hour copy written play then ? They created a two story set, had multiple costumes, lav mics and lighting. This was a full production. There's a reason why yhey got sued. There are plenty of shows they could have done legally.
@@waltermh111 It wasn't their art to alter. They didn't ask permission and changed fundamental aspects of the show. Nobody's "taking it too seriously" we're just annoyed that the adults in the situation defaced someone else's art.
That " Call me son one more time" was that actor working some shit out live on stage. The deep breath to compose himself, hunching himself over slightly to try and avoid a breakdown, the unbridled and legitimate rage in his voice; I dunno what his dad did to him but i hope he's come to the realization that he needs help.
to be fair it could be not just to his father but to the superiors(?) in church, since hes talking to the person playing washington who is clearly a lot older than all of them and possibly who made them do this in the first place
Somewhere I read that the actors playing Eliza and Hamilton are actually a couple off stage, which could explain why she was also recast as Maria. Can't have romantic interactions with actors that aren't romantic with each other already :x
This unironically is giving me a better insight on what makes Hamilton such a great musical. In seeing what they did wrong it’s way easier to see what OG Hamilton did right. It’s a great analysis
honestly same! i’ve spent many years in post-hamilton burnout/cynicism as a theatre kid that was all over it in 2016/17, and this video actually got me feeling nostalgic and wanting to watch the original again. considering how memed the og (and minecraft versions of the) songs are amongst my friends, that’s impressive for sure
@@Sunny_dayz. lol nope! it was mostly just jokes with my other theatre kid friends from high school that were also wrapped up in the initial hamilton craze. though even at the best of times, i’ll admit that i do still have some complicated feelings with lin manuel miranda’s singing…

@@HunterSlingbaum same! I actually stopped midway through the video to re watch the original because I hadn’t seen/listened to it in years. I’ve spent years in Hamilton burnout and it was nice to be reminded why I used to love it
This stood out to me. The point of the line “I take the children to church on Sunday, the sign of the cross at the door. And I pray. That never used to happen before,” is to show Alexander’s desperation for any kind of forgiveness, he’s trying whatever method he can to stop his own guilt. He wants someone to forgive him. It’s not about whether or not he has accepted Jesus, it’s just showing his attempt to connect with someone or something.
Even if we interpret this line as a literal church conversion of Hamilton, it would be MUCH better than this "Hamilton". It can be led as a man who lived without a god, who did a lot of bad things, converted in the last years of his life. It's a very nice interpretation. That one that doesn't go against the whole musical and the values behind it...
Honestly I’m surprised they did so bad at altering the musical to be about Jesus. Like damn. It could have been geared towards showing how hubris and pride was his downfall so he came to God (which he DOES IN THE MUSICAL) and stuff. Like it was all there. Aaron Burr even says how prideful Alexander is and how “it goeth before the fall”. Phillip dies because him and his father are too prideful to let disrespect on their name go. It was ALREADY THERE for them! They could have done so much better even if it’s still an illegal and Christian version! But they didn’t!
the way my jaw dropped when the pastor listed "homosexuality" as something God can help you with, and put it on the same level as drugs, alcoholism, and marital issues😭😭 i was NOT expecting that
Don't worry, it's God's plan. He took your kid from you because it's either entirely your fault or to test your faith (it's your character development so you can achieve true happiness later🤫) Edit: if it was not obvious enough, this is a satiric comment based on the logic of the illegal Hamilton play. This is not serious
It feels like someone pulled out a gun during rehearsals and told all the actors that if they put a single harmony in during the real performance, they’d be sniped on sight. But Hamilton is such a harmony-heavy show that occasionally they’ll slip one in, do a mental ‘OH SHIT’ and pull back because they’re afraid that the guy is cocking his gun.

They DEFINITELY are because there’s no way anybody with an actual, true passion for theater would walk onto stage with gum in their mouth. That part especially offended me, right along with forgetting his lines.
I personally think that with a bit of enthusiasm, Aaron Burr could have almost saved the show. Also- about the harem joke not being cut, as well as Burr mentioning how he keeps Theodosia's bed "warm," I find it funny to think they didn't know what it meant, so they just kept it in
Honestly, I think Burr-kid's lack of enthusiasm is actually terror. As a baby drama kid, a lot of my friends who were having their first roles had similar stage presence-- wasn't that they didn't care, they were just *literally* shaking. I feel bad for all of these children. I don't think any of them could have known that their church was being extremely underhanded by putting on this show, and this is in no way their fault. I hope these kids are okay.
the burr kid definitely has potential and i feel so bad because its clear to me that whats holding him back here is his fear and anxiety but i cant even blame him for that because i know how it feels. hope that kids doing well and if he continues to do musicals that it goes further for him.
Hamilton just needs to talk less smile less in this bootleg. Oh and burr could acc get on actual Hamilton with vocal work- he tried to fix everyone else’s screw ups and actually tried lmao
I haven't gotten far yet but omg Angelica and Peggy *immediately* look not just disinterested in the performance but like they are actively resentful about having to even be here
I feel like the reason they keep the harem joke is because it has always been a theme to villanize women, to show them as overly sexualized/sexually deviant/more prone to sin
when Alexander first introduced himself people cheered like in the real show, but as people started to realize that this play was bad they stop making noise all together
Yes, this totally green kid didn't fully own burr as a character. But he can SING the role which is pretty impressive on it own. I fully agree, the kid wasn't bad, he's actually pretty good but the people who ran the show (all the adults) didn't help him in any way.
His voice is pretty enjoyable. With some singing lessons and finding an actual youth acting studio, he could actually become a really good performer on stage. It’s obvious the directors didn’t give him any direction or help him fix things. With better directions and more time spent on working with him, he could’ve owned this role.
I agree. I think the kid who plays Bur looks like he could be the (IRL) son of the guy who plays King George. Imo, the Bur kid should’ve played Hamilton because he did have some emotional gut behind his acting and the Washington guy should’ve played King George cause that guy was extra and it would’ve spiced up the acting of KG as being extra.
I don’t know why but I find the lyric change to ‘sitting there useless, my shoe fits!!’ absolutely hilarious. congratulations Hamilton, you know how to pick out shoes in your size, you deserve to win the Cabinet Battle, no further questions asked.

King George not only forgot his lines in the first song, but also sung it with the wrong lyrics. He sings oceans rise empires fall it’s much harder when it’s all your call, but that’s from the second song.
Not only does King George not have to dance or perform outside of his three songs, but all three songs are the exact same music and melody, just different lyrics. All he had to do is remember his lines.
Jonathon Groff was spectacular with his funny face expressions and the way he delivered it. Then there is that guy who looks 30 and just got thrown on stage.

Yeah, and Burn only hits a D5. I have a low voice for an AFAB person and even I can reach that, especially with a good warm up. She sounds like she could be a good singer but badly needs lessons.

21:37 Fun fact, this style of musical number where everyone is singing individual lines over each other is a polyphony, and it's sometimes referred to as "the cacophony." Despite the nickname, this style often works really well because everyone is harmonizing and on the same general note progression. In this production, though, it seems like they've taken the word "cacophony" to heart and made the artistic decision to make the final minute of the song sound as dissonant and off-key as possible.
We did something similar for my choir performance when we did “We don’t talk about Bruno” and I had the Dolores solos, and at the end when everyone is singing together it sounded great in practice with all the solos and the rest of the choir singing together (but then for the actual performance half the solo kids went out including mine .😅) But we worked for WEEKS on it to make it sound right and you can really tell just how much the directors didn’t care. Sorry if this is long, just my experience on how HARD this style is.
I think I figured out why they cut out "The Story of Tonight": One of the lines from this song is "Raise a glass to freedom". In the previous track, "My Shot", Hamilton says "I'm only 19, but my mind is older". Not only does this mean that Hamilton is consuming alcohol, but he would have also been underage. Yes, the legal drinking age was different back in the day, but this is Christian Hamilton, and alcohol of any sort is a big no-no for them (possibly, idk I'm Jewish).
This could be true, however in Aaron Burr Sir, all four of them are drinking in a bar, and they didn't cut the line "two pints of Sam Adams, but I'm working on three." But, you're probably right given how little they care about consistency with their censorship! Good thinkin!!
Throwing myself under the bus as a Christian. I don't know what religion specifically this group is, but most Christians are definitely okay with alcohol. As a Catholic Christian, we are served wine in church to symbolise the blood of Christ. So they, uh, that's no excuse for them.

It's like when you choose the same character in a fighting game and they have a different color. I just imagined that but with two Thomas Jeffersons fighting in France!
The funniest part about the “ambassador of France” thing is that it would’ve been a really easy fix too. “Throwing hands AS the ambassador of France” or even “kicking butt as the ambassador to France” doesn’t even sound that bad compared to a lot of the other censors. They just had to change that ONE word.
You just pointed out how ridiculous the church's problem with certain words is to begin with. Like, why would the word "butt" be acceptable but the word "ass" sends them into a fit of the vapours? It's all so random and pointless.
Life must be easier for these brainwashed people. I mean imagine instead of having to take accountability and responsibility for your bad actions that you can automatically say some dude that doesn't really exist in the sky forgives you and claims you no longer need to process your horrible choices.
THIS. and what makes this worse is that when they got notification from LMM’s lawyers who were like “you’re walking on thin ice, bud but you can keep going so long as you don’t record it and publish it anywhere” they twisted it into “They have given us blessing to continue our show guys!!!” So not only did they steal they lied through their damn teeth. Multiple times!!!!
Ok do not do this. Do not go up to someone who is grieving a loved one and tell them (directly or indirectly) that they are responsible for that loved one's death because they did not sufficiently believe in your religion. That is vile and is grounds for them punching you in the face. The fact that these people think that doing this will get them converts instead is baffling to me. Of course that is just one of the many problems with this play.
There is absolutely nothing Biblical about "[Loved One] died because you aren't a Christian". I'm a born-again Christian; I think I'd know if there was. Also, just for reference, it's a DIRECT CONTRADICTION of what Jesus clearly said to say a child is born with a deformity, disability, developmental or intellectual delay, is stillborn, and/or [problem] because of a parent's sin or (perceived) lack of Christian faith, should you ever hear anyone spewing that bullshit. Might just be me, but I figure when Jesus says something like, "That man was not born blind because of his parents' sin", that's a real clear indication whatever's going on with a kid when they're born, it has nothing to do with what their parents may (not) have done. I would not have sympathy for anyone who told a grieving parent, "Your child died because you aren't a Christian" and was punched in response. Assholes who spew that kind of vileness, in my mind, aren't worth the assault and battery charges punching them could bring, so walking away before you serve up a knuckle sandwich would be my advice, but I'd totally understand if a grieving parent lashed out in anger.
I've seen this happen, people get you at a really emotionally raw and vulnerable time and convince themselves they are helping you. I do think it does work sometimes because in grief some people are looking for any piece of driftwood in a storm and these people tell them they can fix it. To some extent there is help because listening and community is one thing a church is pretty good at. It's just vile to not give community without the message of self blame or pushing your product/religion. If churches were just there for people and didn't try to push but people ended up joining because of the community that supported them that would be so much better. The christian belief that one cannot be whole or will be damned for eternity without Jesus is the most manipulative part of that faith. Especially when everyone one gets to decide what the "correct" relationship with Jesus is. It justifies all sorts of vile behavior.
@@Ugly_German_Truthsno. Most Christians aren't like that. I honestly struggle to believe those kinds of "Christians" actually have faith of any kind, and aren't just using a religion that they constantly go against as an excuse for being a dick

RIGHT?? I showed this to a sound person I work with (I’m on lights) and I could see the look of pain on their face. Whoever set the gain on that mic needs to visit their doctor to get their hearing checked.
another note is that at the very, very, VERY end of the original musical, eliza gives out a bloodcurdling gasp and the stage goes completely dark after talking about who will “tell her story.” this actually means that eliza saw the audience, and its a crazy forth wall break because it means that we, the audience, are going to tell HER story. i hate that that entire number was infected by christianity and crap that undermines the entire story of hamilton. (and, if they did leave the gasp in, then it would’ve been nightmare fuel)
Lin said it doesnt have any meaning that anyone except for Eliza herself knows, not even her actress(es? idk if there are multiple Eliza actresses) knows the correct answer.
Apparently the actor who played Aaron Burr in Hamilton (broadway) had a wife who was pregnant during the performance and so when he Alexander Hamilton was singing and Aaron Burr was sitting down on a chair in the dark he would pray for her wife and child, he did this every time
For the kid to have said that line with such genuine anger, you can tell that just like Hamilton he either never knew is father and is resentful of the man not being their for him when he's needed, or his father is around but a genuinely bad parent/person and the boy doesn't trust any male authority figures, or both.

Because it's big popular musical and big popular musical means that all the kids are gonna be going to it and thus they'll be tricked into learning about Jesus of course :D (I bet all the people who went to the musical live quietly said "thanks, I hate it" at the very first line)
@@thewanderingmistnull2451 they are (to a degree) things that actually happened set to music, but there are also things to be considered about the music being played and when the characters talk and share things about themselves with that music, like every time Alexander goes into an "I remember death" monologue or when he sings Hurricane.
In this moment Hamilton really tried religion, he tried in order to pray for his family and for the future, he is at least a bit religious
Honestly I’m surprised they did so bad at altering the musical to be about Jesus. Like damn. It could have been geared towards showing how hubris and pride was his downfall so he came to God (which he DOES IN THE MUSICAL) and stuff.

Despite the nickname, this style often works really well because everyone is harmonizing and on the same general note progression. In this production, though, it seems like they've taken the word "cacophony" to heart and made the artistic decision to make the final minute of the song sound as dissonant and off-key as possible.
Very true. The way they performed it (completely off key) made everything sound so dissonant and grating.
We did something similar for my choir performance when we did “We don’t talk about Bruno” and I had the Dolores solos, and at the end when everyone is singing together it sounded great in practice with all the solos and the rest of the choir singing together (but then for the actual performance half the solo kids went out including mine .😅)
But we worked for WEEKS on it to make it sound right and you can really tell just how much the directors didn’t care.
Sorry if this is long, just my experience on how HARD this style is.
As a Polish person, I approve of that timestamp

I think I figured out why they cut out "The Story of Tonight":
One of the lines from this song is "Raise a glass to freedom".
Isn't alcohol the blood of the Christian lord? I thought churches were OK at least with drinking.
Throwing myself under the bus as a Christian. I don't know what religion specifically this group is, but most Christians are definitely okay with alcohol. As a Catholic Christian, we are served wine in church to symbolise the blood of Christ.

Assholes who spew that kind of vileness, in my mind, aren't worth the assault and battery charges punching them could bring, so walking away before you serve up a knuckle sandwich would be my advice, but I'd totally understand if a grieving parent lashed out in anger.
probably a protestant church tbh
Aiming at vulnerable people like grieving parents is sadly the first rule of christianity 101.
@@Ugly_German_Truthsno. Most Christians aren't like that. I honestly struggle to believe those kinds of "Christians" actually have faith of any kind, and aren't just using a religion that they constantly go against as an excuse for being a dick

Non-Stop is also supposed to be the direct result of Laurens’s death too, bro went to a pretty dark place after said friend died
another note is that at the very, very, VERY end of the original musical, eliza gives out a bloodcurdling gasp and the stage goes completely dark after talking about who will “tell her story.” this actually means that eliza saw the audience, and its a crazy forth wall break because it means that we, the audience, are going to tell HER story. i hate that that entire number was infected by christianity and crap that undermines the entire story of hamilton. (and, if they did leave the gasp in, then it would’ve been nightmare fuel)

(I bet all the people who went to the musical live quietly said "thanks, I hate it" at the very first line)
Harmonies? What harmonies?
You're calling it "depth" and "metaphors" as if it's fiction when it's "things that actually happened, set to music".
@@thewanderingmistnull2451 they are (to a degree) things that actually happened set to music, but there are also things to be considered about the music being played and when the characters talk and share things about themselves with that music, like every time Alexander goes into an "I remember death" monologue or when he sings Hurricane.
There is a lot more to Hamilton's music than "historical events given a soundtrack", and it goes very deep. The musical after all has a lot to say about legacy and what a person leaves behind in the world after death. I highly recommend looking at Howard Ho's videos on Hamilton songs, where he breaks them down and explains the hidden meanings and intentions behind every lyrical and musical choice.
The lack of harmonies is killing me.😭😭😭

@@brownie3454they use that to show why Burr and them didn’t expose him. “We both know what we know”
Hamilton goes out of his way to expose himself so it doesn’t “stain his legacy” or whatever and admit what he’s done
While Bur did commit adultery with Theodosia, they were married after her husband was killed in South Carolina. Their daughter Theodosia was conceived after their marriage.
