You bright lights have been requesting this one even BEFORE I released Satisfied & Burn, so… here’s my take on this awesome song! I absolutely LOVE Renée Elise Goldsberry's version, & wanted to honor her legacy by delivering it in my own way. It's so awesome to me that this song became so popular, even after not being included in the final cut for the musical itself. I know Lin Manuel Miranda removed it because he wanted to focus on Eliza’s reaction, but I think I speak for us all when I say- we DEFINITELY wanted to hear Angelica’s too! I’m so glad this song ended up being shared & I had SO much fun recording it. I focused on mixing in those layers of the attitude, anger, disappointment, heartache, regret & mostly, protectiveness she must have been feeling for herself and her beloved sister. Alexander Hamilton, you done MESSED UP BRO.
I know y’all weren’t super fond of Alexander’s voice on my Satisfied cover, so… shoutout to my AMAZING friend John Henry for lending his voice to be my Alexander in this one! In his defense he had been having an emotional affair with her the whole time he was married to her writing love letters and longing for her. The only difference is that he didn't physically sleep with her. Angelica is a bit of a hypocrite here.
She stood by because she didn't think he could satisfy her and because of Eliza, it wasn't as selfless as she's portraying it in this song but yeah he royally screwed up.
@@devaughnjohnson Lin Manuel Miranda took creative liberties with his musical. Angelica was happily married to her husband John Church before meeting Hamilton. In fact, she was so into John that she actually eloped because she knew her father wouldn't approve of the match. Additionally, she had brothers.
@Shimoi K Absolutely, I've had discussions with people about this already. In addition to him taken creative liberties, the book Lin Manuel Miranda based the musical on is also very biased in Hamilton's favor, which is why Thomas Jefferson and James Madison are protrayed the way they are. Aaron Burr was given a rather sympathetic and redeemable end in the musical too, but history tells a different story. I would consider myself among the "Hamilfans," but people should recognize the difference between adaptions and facts. It doesn't mean you can't enjoy the adaption, but you should acknowledge that creative liberties are generally always taken when transmitting something to a stage or screen.

This is my favorite song from Hamilton. Although it was cut from the musical, it has always been one of my favorites. Brittany, you have one of the most powerful voices I have ever seen. I appreciate the fact that you put so much emotion into the covers you sing!💗💗
