The P16 has special tires. It might not look like it from the threads (looks standard) but it has unique stats, basically it has the best mud traction rating in the game (better even than the mudtires). If the truck had AWD it would have been unstoppable.
You can enable AWD on the P16 by editing the game files. I did it, and it really helps with turning sharp corners because the front driven wheels pull the front of the truck around. Otherwise diff lock with huge rear tyres makes sharp turns difficult.
the P-12 they use in this game is a P-12 Roughneck designed for Saudi Oil fields. That is why it is so long. When we built them at Pacific it would have had huge sand rib tires (6)...It is a 6x6.Truck would be wider for the bigger rad..These guys did a good job on this...Cory..Pacific Truck 1977-87

Front the front, the P12 looks as though it has a bigger, more wider hood then the P16. So I assumed it was the Wider Truck. Until the comparison began. And noticed how long and thin the chassis of the 12 was. In comparison to how massive, wider and bulkier, yet shorter the chassis of the P16 was. I absolutely LOVE the horn of the 16. It screams MOOOOOOOOVE!!!
The P16 has the best tires in the game in mud. It has a grip coefficient of 3.5. The best mudtires have 3.2 , while decent ones have 2.4. It just needs a trailer hooked up on the fifth wheel so that it has weight on the rear axles. Now imagine what this truck would have been if it had AWD. Such a beast. I used it on every single special/heavy trailer.
The P16 did very well for me, especially hauling those special oil rig trailers and drill assemblies. Only part where it lets you down are steep icy roads due to the lacking chains.

I’ve used the P16 to pull every heavy trailer in the game. It’s never gotten stuck, or has let me down. I’ve seen some maxed out Russian trucks struggle pull the massive trailers in Alaska and Michigan, but my P16 never even blinked. It’s insane
Wyatt Jessup I’m never gonna loose that P16. It has to be the best hauling truck in the game. Without fail, it gets the job done. Always. It’s great stock, but upgraded? My god that thing is unstoppable
I used heavily modified White-Western Star to pull that rig through the river. It got stuck. Than I used pre-order Freightliner to pull the rig. I couldn't move the rig. Than I spent several hours to get the P16. That thing... It didn't even notice the river
Have had both trucks and not used them, I used both of the KOLOB's for the heavy rigs, 8wheel drive, 4wheel steering, low range box, and good route planning can do the job just as easy as the big Pacifics. P16 horn is awsome though 🤔😁
IRL my dad used to drive pacific P12's and P16's What I heard from him about those trucks, is that they were some of the best you could get in terms of reliability and logging capabilities.
Double rear tires seem better over all. For two primary reasons that I've been able to notice. One, the wider track is more stable and makes the truck less likely to tip. Two, there is just more tire on the ground. Meaning that you sink less in the mud, and possibly even have more traction over all because there's just more tire in contact with the ground... The double off-road tires do better in mud, than the mud tires... The only trade-off to using the dual rear tires is that the truck becomes a little harder to maneuver. Because it's wider. But this is well worth it for the benefits.
P16 is by default the winner, because the horn is sufficient to compensate for any shortcomings? No AWD? You can just honk and the hill will collapse in front of you No chains? Use the force of the horn to push you up the icy hill
Before that game i had no idea about Pacific Truck company. I was sure it was a generic name for the game. Finally Pacific exist. It a Canadian Truck company from Vancouver and they built heavy truck to carry wood.
both looked evenly balanced going back and forth with winning in each test the strengths of one being the weakness of the other and vice versa and the vote gap is much more evenly split
Would definitely say p16 ive seen it do ridiculous things i never acknowledged it because of the no awd thing but it seems that the p16 is an overall better choice for every place that dosent have ice
I use the 16 for any heavy trailer, it's a beast under load. And since heavy trailers generally don't fit in some areas it has never got stuck. I even pulled one my brother got stuck in rocks, walked it right out. The 12 I put a fuel tank on and tow a service trailer, best heavy service vehicle around, stuck? It'll winch, and enough supplies to fix the whole map
@Allosaurus 67 The P16 has more grip, is more stable, more solid... It’s only slower and less usefull... But to tow those gigantic trailers? You can’t wish for something better than a P16
The biggest job I've done with the P-16 is hauling 8-slot trailers of metal from one garage to the other in the Yukon. At that point, out of everything I had the P-16 (with the tail weighed down by a trailer) was the best thing I had for slow hauling in deep water.
Hey man Excellent videos as usual. Please keep this up it really helps. And also do a comparison video on the VORON trucks. VORON- AE vs Voron D vs Voron Grad
Chained tires only give an advantage on ice, offroad and mud tires are better on snow, dirt, and mud. Tested this myself with 2 ANKs in Alaska, just take the ice slowly or get something to tow you along. Its worth it.
In my hard mode game, I used the P16 for ALL the long log deliveries in Alaska, despite the slippery roads, just keep one tire on the edge in the snow when going uphill on the icy spots. Also used it bringing the big trailer out of that boggy road in North Port (later discovered you can go wide through the snow and avoid that part).
In other words, get both. The P12 is great for repairs because of its huge manteinance frame, and the narrow turning circle really helps it navigate narrow roads you need to take to rescue vehicles. Plus it’s great in Alaska. P16 is free, it’s a beast and it has a freaking freighter ship horn, I mean, what’s not to love? Too bad it’s kinda useless in Russia due to how damn narrow the roads are.
I wanted to use P12 as fuel/repair station with fuel addon and repair trailer.....with top engine and mud tires it still stuck and struggled everywhere. Still it has much more options than P16. P16 has good pull, BUT on even terrain, the moment there is some hole/dip/etc. the lack of AWD hurts a LOT. And the turning radius of the ship not helping.
What I love about the p16 is that it’s got power. Thing is a fighter it will keep going even with a heavy load on it. They are both my favorite trucks. I’m glad to see they add really rare trucks in the game. The Pacific truck company went out of business and the trucks aren’t made anymore. These pacific trucks are off highway log trucks. Think they made on highway trucks not sure on that. Their trucks came with V12 or V8 Diesel engines. The old 12v71 screaming Detroit Diesel, Cummins engines, or Caterpillar. The Pacific P16 In Snowrunner sounds like it’s got a 3408 V8 CAT engine. That’s a good sounding engine. The P12 sounds like a V12 or a V16 CAT. Just the engine sound. I know in the game they got 12 cylinder engines. Just the sound they have
i think the p16 is better beacsue it has more traction in the mud and has great capability off-road, but the problem that still doesnt break it is the turning raius. i voted the p16 because it has a snorkel too, and that makes it avalible for heavy-duty jobs off-road and in the water.
P16 has the best tires in the game for mud. It is good only for mud ferry or delivery of heavy cargo in deep mud. It does it better than any other truck. P12 has other role, most useful as delivery and rescue with the big crane
I wish the p12 had an option for dual mudtires like its chained tires and stuff just for the looks at least, also I thought the p12 only had one bumper which is the stock one.
Fun fact about Pacific trucks: The numbers in their names is actually soley based on their frames. For example: the P12 has 12-inch thick steel frame rails, and the P16 has 16-inch thick steel frame rails.
I used both of these beasts for my heavy rig hauling. I found the P12 to be the better heavy truck. The P16 was slow and could not turn very well. I even used the P12 over the Derry 4520!
I've used the paystar for the first few Michigan heavy trailers, then the white western star from there on. I tried the p12 on the last big trailer of the Michigan maps and even the p16 but they are just so slow and inefficient. Plus having a vehicle with raised suspension makes a huge difference. Just started Alaska maps but the bm 12 doesn't compared to my nearly maxed out western star trucks. I've got a fleet of them, low saddle, heavy crane, flat bed, and I was using the loadstar 1700 as a scout but lack of raised suspension hurts it bad in Alaska
I think people really love the P16. However, this video clearly shows the P12 is overall the better truck. The only times the P12 loses is by a very slim margin, and otherwise it destroys the P16. I also dont find it fair to not use diff lock just bc the P16 doesnt have it. Not a real comparison of ability if you arent using everything the vehicle has. (Only drove it once pretty sure it had engagable difflock if it doesnt my apologies.) Anyway, I prefer Kolob over both of them so bah haha. Lastly, really really appreciate these comparison videos and no one else I've seen comes close to the quality and from what I can tell accuracy of these videos. Bravo Sir keep it up and Thank You!
P12 is quite a bit more versatile, especially being one of only two trucks able to equip the _large_ maintenance frame while the P16 can't even fit a lowboy to its high saddle, but when it comes to the job where they are actually comparable, i.e. pulling special semi-trailers, I prefer the P16 over the P12.
I feel like if the p16 had awd instead of diff lock it would have been a great truck, but surprisingly it’s very good at climbing rocks that are in water
I think diff lock works better for it, honestly. As it sits, it sends power to all four rear tires equally, regardless of traction. AWD with no diff lock means you can end up with only 3 tires getting traction, one per axle. Plus, when a truck is pulling something, the rear wheels have the most traction, so you want to be able to send all your power back there without losing some to wheelspin. That’s my view on it anyway, I’m hardly an expert.
I don't know what y'all talking about, I think the P12 is better in off-road bc that AWD can really make a difference in some situations, and it has the same ratings as the P16
The p16 is my favourite truck I don`t use, because despite how beastly it is in mud, it`s underpowered (I don`t think I could put the best engine when I tried to pull a construction rig uphill, so it kept bogging down), and it it seems to like getting stuck on rocks under or even in between the axles... As a result I ended up delivering the construction rigs in michigan with the white western star instead. With that said I might give it another shot now that I`m a much higher rank. Also I hope that when the wisconson or canada dlc drops, they add heavy logging trailers for it, because I want to recreate the photos and videos online where a p16 is packed way past the hight and width of the body with heaps of massive and super long logs, and pulling a trailer just as packed, along dirt roads... Also, that horn gives me the chills, and it sounds like a friggin freight ship
P16 is by far the best made truck of the whole game, it's clear the devs loved it too. P12 is just gutless, despite having theoretically the same engine
P16 is a truck that proves you dont always need awd as well as the P16 i noticed when im playing rolls over less as well as it has the 3rd best tire in the game. Long story short i love the P16
The P16 was a favorite of mine to mess around in the files to give it things like AWD and a much tighter turning wheel.(From I think 23-27 degrees to 60-70 if I remember right) and messing about with the tires so they behave as if they have chains. Pretty much makes it a do it all truck so long as I can physically fit in a area. That said the P12 is my goto heavy crane rig though while driving it does tip rather easily.
There is a trick to the P16. It's tires are called OHD I, but they have nothing to do with the OHD I tires on the other trucks. It's tires have their own file, and they are better in mud than literally every single mudtire, with a traction of 3.5. The only tires better in mud are the also unique TUZ Tatarin tires, with a mud traction of 8.0. This is what makes this truck beastly. I guess it was the only way to make it a useable truck, otherwise it wouldn't be any better than the highway trucks.
Looking at this in 2024, the P12 is very different now from what it is like in the video. The in game P12 locks up at the slightest incline, there's some bug with its drive train.
I feel like the p16 is missing some trailers. It can't really put anything on his saddle excepg the mission specific things. Maybe there will be some patch witch new trailers some day
BaseltWieAuchImmer you’ve probably heard this by now but they’re adding some new trailers with the second part of phase 1. So if you have the season pass you’ll get a high saddle 5 slot semi trailer.
I have completed every principal mission on every stage and i can say that in my experience the P12 with OHD II wheels (not mud ones) is unbeatable... the OHD give them enough grip not to spin everywhere and if you somehow encounter somewhere where it lacks strenght, simply disable AWD and then all the torque goes to rear wheels and give them the strenght it needs... Also on the video you show how p16 cannot finish 2 of those test, and cannot have any addon so alone is lost... P12 is better , try it on OHD and activating/ deactivating AWD and you will see. Nice video! Thanks
The one thing going for the p16 is it's cool horn... Other than that, lack of awd makes it a parking lot decoration. The only reason it functions as well as it does is because of size, and in the game files, it's unique stock tires have super high mud traction values.
Legion Red You're totally wrong by saying "parking lot decoration". The P16 is the best most powerful heavy truck in the game, it can tackle anything from tandem trailers to big super heavy trailers. Clearly you haven't tried driving it.
This is my only complaint about the vehicles from the game. The devs have made my favorite trucks near useless, as they can only be used in heavy haul scenarios (minus the additional fuel, and utility on the p12). It hurts as I know that these trucks were used for so much more, the p16 had dump truck, and logging variants. This version is the logging variant, but there is not logging trailer. I also believe that the p16 is supposed to be a 6x6, though that may be the Hayes HDX company Im thinking of.
It’s hard to find documentation but I believe the P16 had Clark drive axles in the rear and a massive I-beam axle up front. As far as I know, the P12 Roughneck was the largest 6x6 they made...these were jacked-up on huge tires (60+ inches!) and used primarily for equipment haulage in oil fields.
I’m my mind there isn’t a need for low on trucks with diff-lock always on. I only use low on trucks with switchable diff lock or if you get stuck. Still a great video! Keep it up!
oh wait till hardcore mode comes around and you cant get trailers full of fuel form the trailer shop but have to drive to a sation to fuel them seperately. you will be needing the low gears because they safe you a lot of fuel.
@@Madhuntr What makes you think that Hardcore won't let you buy full fuel trailers at the trailer shop? Besides, High gear is better for fuel efficiency anyway.
@@Hedgehobbit I actually just hope. That this happens. BTW. High gear in mud? =fuel waste. As long as the wheels are turning faster then you go forward you are wasting fuel. Try it out😉
I've used both of these trucks. The P16 is an absolute unit of a truck. Never been stuck and no terrain has stopped it. However, the P12 kinda sucked. And kinda is putting it nicely. It was pretty horrible in just about every situation I put it in. I thought the AWD would make it a beast, but it doesn't even come close to the P16.
I love how the people in the comment section still support the P16. SD1ONE tends to have a hatred for very loved Snowrunner trucks and seems to do his best to make them seem useless without it being too obvious.
I love your videos but something i would like is that you improve your writing skills. ITS not to be rude dude. I hope you dont take IT personely but you make awesome content and wish you god luck with your carrer

The P16 has special tires. It might not look like it from the threads (looks standard) but it has unique stats, basically it has the best mud traction rating in the game (better even than the mudtires). If the truck had AWD it would have been unstoppable.
I think it is a bug, the stats are way too good for this tire. It is so much better than the mud tire of the Tyga. I think the devs switched them.
Laurin Joel Schafhausen Nope, it's not a bug, the tires were made that way.
Kinda like the hummer stock tire which is excellent in all environments
Well my p16 is 6x6 not 6x4 and it DESTROYS taymir's mud bogs
You can enable AWD on the P16 by editing the game files. I did it, and it really helps with turning sharp corners because the front driven wheels pull the front of the truck around. Otherwise diff lock with huge rear tyres makes sharp turns difficult.

I agree but the P12 looks better in my opinion and the stock engine is way underpowered
P16 tires are actually some of the best mud tires in the game...they have a crazy high value, but it’s offset by the lack of AWD.
That Horn!

The P16 is a beast for a two wheel drive truck. I used it to pull all the big oil rig trailers in Michigan and Alaska.
4 wheel drive lol) of the six overall
I wanted to use P12 as fuel/repair station with fuel addon and repair trailer.....with top engine and mud tires it still stuck and struggled everywhere. Still it has much more options than P16.
P16 has good pull, BUT on even terrain, the moment there is some hole/dip/etc. the lack of AWD hurts a LOT. And the turning radius of the ship not helping.
So which is more important: Length or girth? ;)
Any ladies in the audience? 😅
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Depends thick or skinny
Definitely length for me
I was born yesterday
I never ever got stuck with the P16 absolute beast but I love the engine sound on the P12.
Fun fact about Pacific trucks:
The numbers in their names is actually soley based on their frames.
For example: the P12 has 12-inch thick steel frame rails, and the P16 has 16-inch thick steel frame rails.
I always used the p12 for a recovery vehicle it’s power and long chassis gives it such good repair and refuel capabilitesn
(Only drove it once pretty sure it had engagable difflock if it doesnt my apologies.)
Anyway, I prefer Kolob over both of them so bah haha.
Lastly, really really appreciate these comparison videos and no one else I've seen comes close to the quality and from what I can tell accuracy of these videos. Bravo Sir keep it up and Thank You!
The p12 and p16 have always on diff
The P12 will always have a special place in my hear because it’s the truck I used most the first time I 100 percented Michigan.
Also, that horn gives me the chills, and it sounds like a friggin freight ship
wow this battle must be one of the closest yet both vehicles has its pros and cons evenly.
love your vids keep it up, maybe chevy ck1500 vs scout 800?
P16 is by far the best made truck of the whole game, it's clear the devs loved it too. P12 is just gutless, despite having theoretically the same engine
I'm a very old player of this game and I can tell the P12 is large better
P16 is a truck that proves you dont always need awd as well as the P16 i noticed when im playing rolls over less as well as it has the 3rd best tire in the game. Long story short i love the P16
Can we admire that the horn of the red one knocked over a METAL barrel?
The hill he pulled in this video is very easy and also there are comments calling the P12 weak from 4 years ago.
So if you have the season pass you’ll get a high saddle 5 slot semi trailer.
i didnt realise just how much big the p12 is, its about 20% to 25% bigger than the p16
And yet we just witnessed it's capabilities.
Legion Red You're totally wrong by saying "parking lot decoration".
The P16 is the best most powerful heavy truck in the game, it can tackle anything from tandem trailers to big super heavy trailers.
Clearly you haven't tried driving it.
The PIG (P16)is one of my favorite trucks in the game. Just looks and sounds awesome to me. I usually use it to pull all the big drilling trailers.
I use p16 for trailers with saddle high, and the p12 for any other large cargo & trailers in mostly Alaska but other regions as well
That HORN though!! 🎺🎺🚚🚚
As far as I know, the P12 Roughneck was the largest 6x6 they made...these were jacked-up on huge tires (60+ inches!) and used primarily for equipment haulage in oil fields.
...loging is comming later as part of season pass so have faith :)
I use the p16 for ultra heavy and wide trailers cause the power and stability with the shorter wheel base.
Same. I also found that the P16 has enough weight it can keep the big trailers from tipping over when they get unstable.
P16 for almost anything super heavy. Just wish I could use a heavy crane with it.
Madhuntr I don’t need to wait. Because I won’t be playing hardcore.
@@TG_1027 aah so only casual that's fine too😁but I can't wait for hardcore mode
@@Madhuntr What makes you think that Hardcore won't let you buy full fuel trailers at the trailer shop? Besides, High gear is better for fuel efficiency anyway.
@@Hedgehobbit I actually just hope. That this happens. BTW. High gear in mud? =fuel waste. As long as the wheels are turning faster then you go forward you are wasting fuel.
Try it out😉
Gotta say, I'm going with the P16. Not just for the horn, but also because I don't like overly long trucks, despite P12 killing the turn radius test.
I start steering way in advance of the corner. Turn radius is so bad. :D
@@janmajnik6889 Yes, yes it is. I also use the trick real truckers use, which is to turn outward first, to get as much clearance as possible.
I've used both of these trucks. The P16 is an absolute unit of a truck. Never been stuck and no terrain has stopped it. However, the P12 kinda sucked. And kinda is putting it nicely. It was pretty horrible in just about every situation I put it in. I thought the AWD would make it a beast, but it doesn't even come close to the P16.
my absolute top favourite trucks mainly p16 for front looks
How did the P12 Roughneck’s bumpers change? What version let you change the P12’s bumpers
Itd be interesting to see an updated version woth the P512 PF
That P12 is so frigging long.
Thanks I get that alot
Freightliner 114SD vs freightliner M916AA1
Upvoted! Would also like to see this 👍🏻
I love how the people in the comment section still support the P16. SD1ONE tends to have a hatred for very loved Snowrunner trucks and seems to do his best to make them seem useless without it being too obvious.
P12 is one of my go to trucks as the pulling power it has is great for getting my other trucks out of bad areas
P16 all the way boiz
Like if u agree
Btw the the horn takes the win no matter what
P12 is excelent rescue vehicle with maintenance addon, it works good even in Taymyr map.
I use it with a heavy Crane and if need have maintenance trailer
The horn on the P12 sounds like a sample of a truck horn on a children's toy
I wish the Alaska maps had more ice roads. Using rivers as roads is it just cool.
The JBE P16 Dual front is an absolute Behemoth.
P12 is the best heavy crane platform because of the clearance on the crane stuts.
Hmmm, good call! Using the White-Western Star as my heavy crane atm...perhaps it’s time for an upgrade 😋
The hill pull challenge, trailer left the scene 😂😂 I’m out
I love your videos but something i would like is that you improve your writing skills. ITS not to be rude dude. I hope you dont take IT personely but you make awesome content and wish you god luck with your carrer
Wasn't expecting that p16 horn 😳 🤣
Thanks for posting my vidoe idea!
He stole from u lol fight with him
Hank F. are you stupid? the guy thanked SD1ONE for doing his idea, it's not stolen
Watching the P16 not able to do something is like being tied to a chair watching your dad getting beaten up
