Alright here, now we're gonna talk about how to hit a single leg and finish it. There are a number of different finishes, the first is running the pipe, or ride the pipe. So, single leg is very easy off of the southpaw orthodox stance. So, I jab, he comes in, he grabs my leg. Okay, alright, that's when you're gonna shoot. Same thing, southpaw orthodox. I jab, and I can shoot in as well. Okay, so, either way, he jabs and shoots, or he can shoot off of my jab, either way. Or any front hand technique, I can hook, he comes under, he shoots, anyway. Okay now, after he grabs my leg, he's gonna squeeze his legs together a little okay? Now, very important, is footwork here. He's gonna smash me. See my leg here? He's gonna make that leg bend. Smash me down. See that? He smashes me down. Now he's gonna turn the corner, and throw. One more time, he shoots in, he jabs, he grabs the single. Okay, head should be here, don't put your head here. Okay, one more time, never put your head down, do it like he did. Boom! Right there, see it? Look right into my chest. Head - 'cause I'm gonna be trying to do this. Now, smash! Turn! Boom, right there. Okay, one more time. Shoots in, my jab or his jab. Boom. Smash! Ride the pipe. Again, full speed. Now. That's how you do a single leg.
Works Great!! My grandma had no chance!
Someone commented on Conor Mcgregor’s lack of footwork on this last fight, this is exactly why it was missing. Conor puts his leg forward and bounces when he does footwork, easy target for Khabib.
Yeah, I noticed that
@Muhaimen x99x umm this is a 3 year old comment. McGregor did in fact lose to Khabib 😂😂😂 welcome to the internet buddy…
best how to do takedown video ever...I am practising MMA and this is by far best explaination
Hello I from future...👋
But now its not about mma again :( sad
lol i used this on my teacher and now they kicked me out of school
Good for you
Really not surprising that they kicked you out of school...

Get a life loser
What??
In short, 1) we remove one support foot, 2) we use the head to push, rotate outside and make him fall
My friends were doing grappling today and I was really bad at it I watched a few videos and managed to take down the best grappler in our class multipal times ur a great help thx 👍👍
I'm gonna go ahead and say cap
Straight up cap.
Yeah he’s really not that good if you took him down after watching some videos
then the best grappler in ur class also just watched a few videos
Alright if you say so Cap-tain.
Easily the best explanation of this technique I've ever seen!
+1
Anyone participating in Wrestling or MMA should have a single leg in their repertoire. I highly recommend videos like this for breaking down what you have learned in Training to getting a little bit of understanding before joining class (which is not necessary at all).
However watching these videos in order to train yourself or have a street fight is the dumbest thing you could do to yourself. First one often leads to making mistakes a habit without the supervision of a trained coach, second one will most likely wake you up in hospital. Real fighting is way different then Training technique on paper, every fighter thinking about his very first sparring session way back probably feels me right now.
Stay out of trouble gentlemen and stay healthy.
aynen
Amen
It's better to know than not to know. My best advice? Always hit the gym to gain that muscle & stamina. Secondly practice shadow boxing in front of a wall mirror. 3rd get a sparring partner. That way you get used to combat & know what it feels like to get hit
You don't know what you are talking about. I don't think your iq level is enough to give advice.
Once again just crystal clear exposition of technique. You make it all simple. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
I was sparring mma with my friend and tried this so many times...as soon as i go in he gets me in a gullotine
Default are you keeping your head on the inside? You’ll get choked if you place it on the outside and allow them to sit back into a modified guard, or if you look at the ground when you grab the leg...if you stick your nose in his rib cage and stay connected, the angle to finish the guillotine is not there (although they will still try to attack it). If you go to the ground while they are attacking the choke, be sure to land (or move) to the opposite side of the guillotine so that your body is on the opposite side of your head, again, the angle is not there for them to finish you, HOWEVER, if you were to clasp your hands together and put all your weight on YOUR shoulder, now YOU will be the one choking him. UA-cam a Von Flue Choke
Always place your head on the inside. Sometimes they will still get head control but they wont be able to finish it if your head is in the right place.
@@SlackerBluePodcast note taken, inside as in, not on the side of his hip?
@@Shino-lr2wi yeah. You want your chin up as well(one of the few positions its okay to do that). Your head will be pressed in the center below or on the chest. You'll be there for less than a second(idealy) before you take him down.
head inside no guillotine, head outside easy peezy guillotine
This was excellent. Im not a grappler by training but like to have some basic takedown skills in my toolbox.
Anyone else who doesn't know anything about fighting, on a grappling video spree?
Meh
+SUPERIOR MMA SPECIALIST nice
Joxiel Romero I'm already good at taking down people I just want to know more then the ways I know
Lol, guilty
@@revera5666 So you claim buddy, so you claim.
Remember to really riiidddee the pipe.
Steveo ??
Great explanation and it's very cool to put subtitles.
Hello I from future...👋
Happy to find your Exercises in MMA on You Tube! They are very clear and good to follow........! THANKS!
Hello I from future...👋
Anyone who knows ITF TKD, set up of this tech can be seen in Won hyo. It's the "groin block".
Hello I from future...👋
Here's a better option. If it's the left leg being grabbed; put your right arm under the calf or behind the knee, grab your right hand with your left pick them up, and sweep the red leg, and try your best to make them land on their head. Vice versa with the right leg.
Yeah that's called a high c (crotch)
That smashing in is difficult for me so what i like to do is revolve to the other side when holding the leg and then push the guy back with my body weight...
So simple but my favorite takedown
That is a very nice looking MMA gym.
Hello I from future...👋
"Ride the pipe" alright next XD
Also hands are held more upwards for better protection in mma style, it's better to protection for knees whilst being grabbed and all round blocking.
Hes gonna SMASH me
*moves an inch*
Ok this is too savage
My friend has to pick two people to go to apex me vs my other friend in a takedown match so that's why I'm watching this video
who won? whos next? you decide!
Love this!!!
MMA means mixed martial arts. it takes and modifies techniques from all fighting styles. which were meant for self defense and self control.
You should add “southpaw vs orthodox”
I recommend buying knee pads like the coach in the video when training single/double leg takedowns, you will thank me in a few months
this was one of the techniques that really helped when i defended myself from a guy that attacked me, i used a single leg and elbow smashed him
That's really nice!
Hello I from future...👋
MMA is the style that almost exactly simulates a street fight.
You made him switch his feet lol
Thanks now i can rekt my classmate in tommorows final exam in our P.E
For example, speedy footwork would be a great addition, but I don't see much of it (not that I've been watching recently). Inside fighting would do wonders against the cage. Correctly executed angling would not only stop the opponent from striking, but also make them turn and be unable to execute a take down. Head movement and counters would end fights. It's just, the level of boxing in MMA isn't really great. They also are limited in how much boxing they can get experience in like on the inside
tbh boxing footwork is also great for executing a takedown. A D'amato shift can be very viciously followed by a single leg thats hard to sprawl against
As a result of this, I see a lot of guys just standing in front of each other hitting one another, which isn't boxing. They may know how to throw a hook and a straight, but not know any other aspects of the science. I think putting a good (not washed up, lol) boxer in the octagon with a good sprawl would dominate the fight. I'm not putting MMA down, but MMA does boxing to set up takedowns or things for MMA, while boxing does boxing to pick apart opponents with the hands, footwork, and skill.
thank you from korea
this is gonna be useful.
That's how opponent's grap our legs in kabbadi.
thanks, this worked on my grandma and she couldnt fight back, real effective 👍
That was awesome
Hello I from future...👋

MMA is not a fighting style. it is a sport, you bring in whatever you like. best MMA techniques that are good for self defence comes from Boxing and BJJ.
very detailed
If anyone in the comment section knows about this stuff and has a background in something similar I'm here looking for throws that would be useful in armed fighting. I do HEMA but I'm mostly self-taught because there's no clubs nearby, so I'm looking for whatever I can. So far the best one I've seen is the hip throw, if anyone knows more Greco Roman wrestling techniques that might work with a longsword, let me know. Thank you.
+Captain Swing sorry what exactly is it you do ?id love to help
Most of the videos master perform techniques on apprentice But a true master let his students to perform and master the techniques.
Not at the same level as a boxer. Not only that, they aren't doing full boxing. There are many things MMA doesn't teach for boxing that boxers do. You hardly ever see angles in MMA punching like boxing. Or speedy footwork. Or crisp, quick punching. A boxer has no limitations on boxing, whereas in MMA they are really only learning certain aspects of boxing. Maybe they think they'll get taken down or something. But I think they should use more boxing techniques in MMA. It might help their game.
If you want to use MMA in a selfdefense setting you 1st need to make weight, get cleared by the athletic commision and on fight night wait for the referee to give you the word.
Very useful
really?
Ah tomorrow im gonaa tussle with the school bully wish me luck
thats why in the video when he says smash the guy makes him bend the knee which is the knee he could knee you in the face with forget that of course you're gonna get a knee to the face
don’t you pull the leg in, cuz that’s how it was taught to me in wrestling
You can't assume MMA is better than boxing just because a boxer boxes. You don't know if the boxer would knock out the MMA person (Mercer KO Sylva shows difference in power) or if the boxer has a good sprawl (I'm a boxer and I have a good sprawl). Boxers also have superior footwork and handspeed, accuracy, power. The debate will last forever, but look up Raphael Butler. Boxer turned MMA and is now a state champ within a few fights. Not arguing, just saying, you can't count out boxers.
Thats a Smasher =O
This is what i would teach a 10 year old who never wrestled.
He really sounds like Matt hughes
Thanks your great
can you do a single leg off of a righty stance not a lefty stance?
thanks Steve-O
if you drop your leverage to one side of your body and wrap you arm under there chin you can make yourself fall to the ground dropping your opponent on there face while they are in a guillotine and on the bottom position
Well if the boxer is practicing takedown defense that just makes it MMA.
Boxing is part of mma. MMA is just an overall more well rounded and varied discipline. The reason you only see some of boxing in MMA is because only some of boxing is effective in mma.
inside fighting isnt worth training extensively because its completely nullified with a clinch, but unlike boxing you dont just get separated and get to do it all over. You transition into a whole other set of skills.
ride the pipe hahaha I might be wrong but I live in Wrassling country and was always told it was running the pipe
Im willing to bet thats because you either didnt do it fast enough, i.e taking the leg and holding it thinking what to do next. always gotta commit to your takedowns or dont even try them at all.
Cool move
Boxers duck and weave... In Mma style you block with the arm as you turn your hips, very useful for jabs. A boxer could easily punch his self in the face holding his hands like on his face as you see them do
There is a couple key elements that are missing that I wish were reviewed in this video. Perfect form is everything. If somebody is using this as their base, they need all their spots checked before they develop poor habits in their head.
+Number09 i think an emphasis on keeping the head on the belly is important as sometimes it ends up on the outside when you are inexperienced and can be easily guillotined
This is a common mistake among people who even have a lot of grappling experience. Takedowns have a big risk/failure area in my opinion, which is why I like to see them as detailed as possible.
I got gillotined 3 times today while attempting single leg.
you don't believe you should drag your leg to defend a sprawl?
Mysavedforgrace. mma is not like boxing, it uses a different stance that's more practical. Bouncing around ducking moves can get you in to trouble with knees and kicks. Boxing is very useful but that's only one stance out of many possible stances in an mma/UFC fight. Standing still, is more common for real fights. Footwork is useful but boxing stance is for close range only.
MMA doesn't focus very well on self defense actually. You learn how to fight. But as far as learning things like awareness, learning to use weapons or defend weapons, learning to angle yourself against multiple people. MMA doesn't teach anything like that. It teaches you great fighting techniques, but I think it's safe to say that if I had peper spray I could probably beat anyone in the UFC... >.> Real human combat is not like MMA, it's with weapons. Always has been, always will be.
What about this takedown with wrist and neck control? (just like an ankle pick)
Isn't there other ways to get the single without having to put their leg between your legs? Thats a very vulnerable position.
As soon as your to close for boxing or to far a boxer is screwed unfortunately. Wrestling/boxing/muai tia would destroy a boxer as he only has 1 range to use.
Harris from the police academy.
I'm not putting anyone's foot between my legs
I know lol
In wrestling I learned to lift the leg and drive into the person with my legs and shoulder and left them and slam them down in a similar way you would if you were doing a double leg. For example, we're both orthodox, so I go for his left leg and then drive my body into him while turning into his right to throw him off balance, make him be kinda on his tippy toes on his right leg and then slam them down while throwing myself into him. Is this incorrect for MMA or could I still do it and follow it with my knee under his left leg to block him from the guard?
Stance
Interesting fight move all about hugging leg
Can you use this MMA fighting style as self defense? Or its good just if you want to fight in official competitions of UFC type
Hmm seems like a good wrestling move, but I think if in a street fight you tried this they would punch your face like crazy.
That's why have to keep moving the guy so he can't punch u.if u stop and think u give the guy some time to punch u.
Staggers9010 Well you're not going to be doing it this slow. It also throws you off balance which will make your body react differently stopping you from going into punching mode.
This is why the Fake-Out is a thing. Fake the jab to force your foe to protect their upper body while you simultaneously grab their leg.
You're not going to do a lot of damage punching somebody with one hand, your better off defending the single using under over or just sprawling
well, the title is called "MMA Fighting." not street fighting.
I don`t know any fight. Very interesting for me.
เจ๋งมากเลยครับน้า
Khabib favorite moves...
His name translated is Threefeet hahahahahahah
Keep your head up so u can get your eyes jab...🤔
Therefore don't look for street fights...😌
Did this to my cousin he slammed his head on the carpet haha damn it must practice with air now
lool yes it can be use, use the takedonw, when he is in the floor punch his troath
If you aint having a beard and shaved mustaches i aint learning form you
What if ur both orthodox or southpaw
i came here by chance. I have no idea of fighting, but when he grab the leg and keep the head up. that doesnt leave the face near the fist of the opponent and ready to be punched?
thanks in advance.
Hi. There happens to be a chance for punching but since the attacker control the leg and compress, the defender is out of balance and cannot throw a proper powerful punch. He actually goes for the head but aiming at defending the single leg itself, as showed in another video of the same author.
when he holds your leg his face is open
Nilufar Yusupova this is for wresiling not mma
I know this isn't self defense oriented, but man, putting your head up like that screams "eye gouge" to me. That's like the major move us untrained weaklings learn. Thousands of eye gouge reps.
Obviously the more you practice this takedown, the better you get, and speed comes with practice. Hopefully they'd be on the ground before even knowing what happened to them.
You Steve-O
his face is open and leaves a opening to his face
and you can land a punch on his throat as well just have to be quick enough
You say that as if it's easy. Besides, when they're on the ground they can't hit you very well.
Jose Guerrero There is a reason no professional fighters do wing chun.
Matthew M I found sparring with WC against other people makes you realize what works and what doesn't like Pak sau . after I take some BJJ classes I Shud be good for UFC . (jk)
Matthew M haha thx but i can understand why some ppl don't think WC works when they have people teaching horse stance to have ur knees touching each other
Jeazy27 i haven't fought anyone that knows bjj but it would be awesome to spar a bjj fighter. maybe we can spar someday
thnx
but he can punch your face for avoiding her punch take your had back and puch forward
Could the person in black not get him in a headlock easily like that ?
+Louis Heywood if you do what the guy is doing press you head against their chest they wont get your head especially if you do this real time because the guy wont have enough time to grab your head if he did then he wont have time to control you because you would have turned and he would be on the ground :)
Well that helped out a lot but that looks very disturbing
Youre five years old
