It's the spooky season. This week, Scariest Enemies, next week, Scariest Soulsborne Moments, so stay tuned! And thank you again for 10k Subscribers! I want to do a special video to celebrate, but it'll have to wait until November!
The headless from Sekiro are even more terrifying when you understand their grab attack. They don't rip out Wolf's spine. It's much worse: In old Japanese culture the soul of a human is actually stored...in their anus. So the headless attack Sekiro's soul - by shoving their hands up his asshole and ripping out his soul. Now THAT's fucked up.
It gets worse when you pay attention to how they store the shirikodama up their own anus after a successful grab. Kappa demons are old folklore. Interestingly, there is a thought that the reason people believed this was because when people die in a river or lake, usually by drowning, their bodies anuses "open" and when they were found this way, it was assumed the soul had either escaped or been stolen by a kappa. In reality, this is a normal occurrence for a few different forms of death.
The scariest enemy in Elden Ring for me is the worm faces. First time I got to that forest and just heard all the terrifying sounds they made, plus their design. It's just creepy. Nevermind the really big one lol
@@theultimatep1e40I remember getting up onto a shack one couldnt reach then killing it with poison arrows. Only one I killed but pretty satisfying even though I cheesed it.
if you lead the one in arnor londo to the big elevator, his ai will break and he will become fully harlmess and just make a funny noise from his teeth touching touching eachother, Experiencing this made me go from fearing them to thinking they are kind of adorable
“My crippling arachnophobia” I’m right there with you, my friend. There’s a reason why my wife and I have a deal when it comes to insects in the house: I deal with anything that has 6 legs, she handles anything with 8 legs. Anyways, I’d give you a hearty shoulder-pat-pat while shaking your hand in solidarity if I could. Great content, looking forward to checking out some of your other stuff!
If you read the description of "Eleonora", the axe the Monstrosities Of Sin drop, you can deduce they are the women/witches who triggered the disaster of the Profaned Flame, the one that engulfed the citie on fire.
Unfun fact. The grab performed by the headless is based on a japanese tale, that the soul is located in your lower body. So yeah, this thing literally rips your soul out of your ass. Yay.
The headless actually steals your soul through your ass when he does the grab attack 💀. It's inspired by a Japanese urban legend. The same one that inspired the dung eater from elden ring
A note about the monstrosities of sin, they likely have a direct connection to the abyss and manus. This is not only due to the they're name, but also because Manus in Latin means hands and they have hands for faces. I know not if that was an obvious connection to be made, i just thought it was an interesting connection to make.
For Bloodborne I think the scariest enemy is the small gaping dragon type thing that is in Byrgenwerth. I don’t know how else to describe it other than a mini gaping dragon shaped insect thing. For dark souls 3 it is DEFINITELY the long hair centipede things. Every time I see one of those I want to actually smash my TV to get it away.
@@chacharealsmooth4667 ah yes you can find more of them in the chalice dungeons! They are insanely creepy looking, like some sort of giant arthropod from the carboniferous period.
@@TosherHaney-i5jtrue but I think there are 2 distinct types of scary enemy. Some just look scary or sound scary and creep you out when you see them and others are scary because you fear encountering them and how the encounter will go. I think if we are going by the second type it’s the shark dudes for BB 100% and for DS1 I could not think of a better candidate than basilisks.
My a worst Soulsborne experience is when I was rune grinding in Elden Ring and I ran up to the crow just behind the grace near the boss, and a massive HAND just fell from the sky and on top of me. And then that became my go-to grinding spot because the crow is super close to a grace and auto dies and drops 1000 ish runes, plus the hand drops 4000, so it's a great grinding spot.
I think the scariest enemy I faced in Souls games is also one of my favourites. I just love the Winter Lanterns. Their design is so creepy and trigger the uncanny valley so much to me. The fact that they have a similar dress to the Doll and their head is made of messengers make them so terrifying. And of course, earing this song always trigger my nerves. I love to play Metal Gear Solid against them, this is the only one enemy on the series that I fight like this And great list ! The Fingercreeps who jumpscare you from the ground are truly the bane of my existence, even if the middle finger attack they can do make me smile
Honestly i love the existance of this type of enemy varieties. Royal revenant is a really tough enemy that most people hate/avoid, and i like that, the idea that there is this one enemy that everyone collectively avoid and are scared of lmao.
Mass of souls and basilisk in ds1 are the scariest to me. The mass for shock factory and the basilisk for the panic the curse meter puts on you as a first time player
I didn't even know their name when I clicked on the video but I'm so happy you called out the Labyrinth Sage for Bloodborne. That fucking run animation...
darklurker would be my ds2 pick even if it's a boss. I've always felt unsettled by him more than anything in ds2. and I like how you can actually see him through a crack in the wall if you look carefully before dropping into his arena, which just adds to his terror
For DS3 the contorted spider women in the aqueduct of Irithyll is easily the worst. Those fuckers and how theyd appear from nowhere, the sounds they made, their movement and the wet hair made me want to get a flamethrower everytime i saw one screaming "KILL IT!"
The Masses of Souls in DS1 also have a really, let's say, weird design (the lumps of mud with their long spear tongue summoning the red explosive skulls).
Agree on Demon's Souls. For DS1 the skeleton dogs are still the most terrifying. The scariest encounter in DS2 would be the giants hidden in the dark. For DS3 it would be the Corvians in the dlc and the weird multi leg things that come out of the water. In Bloodborne just everything terrifies me but the scariest would be the shark giants or the the tentacle face giants near where you can get the pizza cutter weapons. Agree on the headless in the Sekiro. And in Elden Ring it would be the big ass super fast crows for me, especially the blood versions.
The almost invisible shades in the Shaded Woods in DS2 are also a contender enemy imo. Not being able to lock on and barely seeing them in the fog can cause one to panic. It doesnt help that they look EXACTLY like player ghosts.
Honestly, I find the Monstrosity of Sin kinda cute in a weird sort of way? Like, they’re just these big eldritch babies and I kinda love them?? For me, in terms of DS3 enemies, I found the baby-faced things from Irithyll Dungeon, white spiders in the little swampy alcove, and (ESPECIALLY) the giant dog-spider in the Cathedral much scarier. Not sure if bosses count, but the Dancer of all things terrified me my first time fighting it. There’s something so uncanny and off-putting about it’s design and moveset combined with its immense size, and imagining the horrors that turned this (presumably) once beautiful thing into the wretch we encounter in-game genuinely makes me sick.
Ooo ooo ooo I know this one, the monstrosity of sin were people that were mutated by the profaned flame. The flame was born from the soul of alsanna the silent Oracle from dark souls 2. One of the item descriptions specifically mention the flame was created by the descendants of an oracle using her soul, she is the only other character referred to as. Alsanna was born from a fragment of manus' soul. So the reason these creatures have giant hands for faces is because they were essentially born from somebody lighting a fragment of a fragment of manus' soul on fire and the damn thing freaking out like some kinda dark souls demon core.
First mistake in elden ring, was entering a forrest at the dead of night. And then hearing and witnessing the worm faces, legit thought i was playing Slenderman
Hands down the scariest enemy's in the series for me are the giant flies from Ashes of Ariendel, I found just convincing myself to go in that room full of them harder than the fight with Sister Friede Edit: WHY DID THEY BRING THEM BACK IN SHADOW OF THE ERDTREE, WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY
Elden ring’s scariest enemy is without a doubt the crawling albinaurics. Easy enough to kill but if you’re not expecting them and they just fast crawl toward you while growling gives me a jump scare every time.
I've played more than half of Lies of P, and while Archbishop Andreus is obviously the scariest boss, I'm personally really grossed out by those carcass tanks that rip out parts of their flesh to chuck it at you. Good video!
The headless actually is taking out your soul in that grab attack. According to one japanese legend its like this ball where your soul is located. Its called shirikodama.
The thing that creeped me out the most in bloodborne was subtle. It was the crows with dog heads and the dogs with crow heads. Something about that kind of body modification just made me pause and say wtf. Some people in real life do this to animals and that's where it freaks me tf out
@BillySYT I love the super eldrich horrifying abominations, but I draw the line at those crows lunging at me with their dog teeth ;-; Big Nope. And of course that had to be the blood echo farming area with those PIGS WITH TOO MANY EYES
The labirynth sages also wield still alive corpses and attack you with them. So there is more nightmare fuel. I also think the loran silverbeasts are also really freaky, there is a reason they are mostly found in the nightmare relams. The way they run at you, their giant claws and the way they use their torches. And once they have low health they drop their torch and start crawling like the wolf enemies. They also have maggots in them in mensis.
I know it's easy to find it comical because nowadays people think the graphics outdatd, but the way the DeS Mindflayers dash towards you with that sped up running animation is still terrifying to me lmao, it's exactly like watching an insect creep towards you with an insane burst of speed.
I think the unseen village yahargol or however you sleep it is one of the scariest parts in any souls game , and byrgenwerth enemies are terrifying the way the jump at you 🤦🏾♂️
I think the scariest enemy for me, in ALL of soulsborne ring were the snake maidens in Seath's prison. It was everything.... the haunting weeping, the fact they rush you up the stairs and you can see them coming, and the odd reason that they got their own CUT SCENE made me thing they were MUCH scarier than they actually are. I was also 14 heh
For me the mad ones in Bloodborne are absolutely terrifying, idk why when I first saw one it triggered some hidden childhood fear. And The cemetery shade in elden ring which look almost exactly the same, but they're a corpse controlled by a DISGUSTING insect instead of their brain.
The Monstrosities of Sin in DS3 represent 3 major Sins: Gluttony, Greed and Sloth. They where once female Priests of the profane City who succomb to the Corruption of the profane Flame. It´s also represented in the Axe the middle Monster drops when defeated, called "Eleonora". The Ash of War on this Axe is called "Call to Feast"., wich ties in with their Sin of Gluttony.
Haven't played Demon Souls unfortunately but my scariest enemies in the games I've played are DS1 : the skeletons in all fours in tomb of the giants DS2 : don't have anything in particular but if i had to choose i would say those boogeymen in no man's warf that are afraid of light DS3 : the baby faced things in Irithyl dungeon ( the giant hands and those bug like women are close second and third very closo) Bloodborne: the shark giants Sekiro: definitely the headless ( he does not go for the spine 😅 in Japanese tales and folklore it is said that your soul is in your... Well.... Anus... So the headless is basically fisting you to take your soul okay enough) Elden ring: revenants , there are more that terrify me but nothing can beat those things
I never really got scared by a souls game (i haven't played BB because lack of playstation), but the sewer centipedes grossed me out. I can't stand those things.
I agree with your list, my first was dark souls and I was playing It blind and when I reach the New Lando ruins in finding the ghost that you cannot harm with normal weapons scared the crap out of me and I still remember the jump scare of the skeleton dog as the hug face was revealed from the darkness and to boot the enemy that dropped the lantern fell so hand no latern😑
Those giant things with teeth in their head from Lost Izalith in DS1. The ones that grab the player and throw them up into the space in their head with the teeth.
My opinion DeS: Mindflayers DS1: Mimics DS2: Darkdwellers Bloodborne: tie between Loran Silverbeast, Giant Sharkmen and Nightmare of Mensis pigs DS3: Sewer Centipede Sekiro: Great Colored Carp ER: Fingercreepers
"That moment when you're completely helpless and see this horrific creature coming towards you..." (Euphoric moan sound effect) I dare detect some subtext in that one.
My pick for DS2 would be the Undead Aberration, you only see it once and very possibly not at all in NG as it's up in one of the cages in Aldia's Keep, then in NG+ there's two of them added into the water on the way to the Lost Sinner. Revolting to look at, fairly tanky, due to the afore-mentioned singular NG appearance a moveset you won't have much idea of, and unlike the Flexile Sentry in the same place the area where you get off the lift isn't safe from them.
Elden Ring's scariest enemy for me (someone with a massive fear of bugs) is far and away the God damn Ants. Doesn't help that I did Ranni's quest on my playthrough so I had to see them a lot more than I would have otherwise. I hate the way they look, the way they move, the noises they make, everything about them. FUCK bugs bro
Imo, the scariest enemy in ER, were the giant slugs in the Leyndell sewers, I really don't know why, but slugs REALLY creep me out, so seeing them there, in like, everywhere, makes me terrified. The Frenzied Flame is my favorite ending in ER, but those giant slugs are the only reason why I don't do this ending in all my playthroughs.
Fingercreepers. I hate them. Once I stepped into Caria Manor and got jumpscared on more than one occassion, I wanted to nuke the area out of existence. Same for a portion of Mountaintops. They were also obnoxious to fight if you didn't know to light em on fire. I already hated the Monstrosity of Sin, and now they brought them back but even faster. Just watching them move makes my skin crawl.
it didn't occur to me until quite recently but I think the Monstrosity of Sin enemies in DS3 are meant to reference Manus, their heads greatly resemble his hand that grabs you and pulls you in to Oolacile I think my DS3 pick has to go to the Pus of Man, they make me panic so much
Starting my list before I get to each part in the video and seeing how it matches up - Demon's Souls: The Mindflayers. Tower of Latria makes me the most unsettled out of any location in DsS for sure, and the mindflayers being able to paralyze you and then suck out all the juice from your body gets me every time. Dark Souls: Probably the skeleton dogs. It doesn't matter how many times I play Dark Souls, the Tomb of the Giants never gets better and those skeleton dogs kill me pretty much every time. Seeing them looming out of the darkness when you have light because they have just a short enough aggro range that you can see them first is just horrifying. Dark Souls II: Maybe the darkdwellers, those spider monkey guys in No Man's Wharf. But their aversion to light does defang them pretty heavily. DS2 doesn't really have many scary enemies imo. Dark Souls III: There are a few choices, but this one almost certainly has to go to the Deep Accursed, those things still terrify me. The second place choice is probably Sulyvahn's Beast, especially since you have to deal with two of them together at one point. Bloodborne: Semi-meme answer, the sharks. Everyone knows the well, and the horrors it contains. Runner-up goes to the Winter Lanterns for sure, for similar reasons as the Demon's Souls mindflayers. And other semi-meme answer, if we count them, then the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, because I've said before how they always kick my ass, they should be the one ending the hunt, not me 😭 Elden Ring: Obviously the royal revenants. I think a respectable runner-up goes to the Kindred of Rot though, those centipede guys are awful and their magic consistently tore through me at every stage of the game. Now let's see - The ghosts are a good shout. That's definitely a huge "wtf" moment for a new player who's gone in blind, and one of the main reasons I default to going for the cursed greatsword most of the time. I've been called out for not doing the chalice dungeons, oh no 😭 The monstrosities of sin are definitely a good shout too, and now that I think about it they're probably an inspiring force behind the hand spiders in Elden Ring too. And there the hand spiders are lmao
Crazy the horrifying Elden Ring monsters that didn't even get a mention: abductor virgins, monstrous crows, giant crayfish... but for me, #1 has got to be the runebear.
Abductor Virgins are more creepy than scary to me, monstrous crows are adorable, they just want hugs. The crayfish are iconic, they can punch me any day, but I'll 100% give you that the runebear is terrifying your first time through.
I got jump scared in dark souls remastered so many times. And i havent finished the game yet. The sceleton dogs from the toomb of the giants and their breathing gave me nightmares, also those disgusting worms from the demon ruins popping out of anywhere but my biggest jump scare was in the deep hollow. When i first entered and stepped onto the roots i didnt know you could break the small branches by walking trough them and i tought a giant wiggly spider jumped me so i panic rolled and died. Was the scariest shit ever xDDD
I'm sure everyone that have played Bloodborne was creeped out when encountering the First Enemy before lighting the Lamp at Byrgenwerth !!! You just don't expect that at all after meeting Beasts and Werewolves 🤘🤘😅
There’s the viscerally scary like all the parasite enemies From loves but I have to admit that they lose their effect on me once I fought them a few times. In real life I‘m terrified of big insects but luckily that effect doesn’t translate to video game creatures. Watching a documentary about insects still is much more scary in that regard than even the giant ants in Ainsel River although they do come the closest and I‘d rather not get hit by them. Then there’s the ones that are scary because I never quite learned how to fight them. Damn birds, man. Just hit R1 and pray. Other than that it really depends on how strong my character is compared to everything else, making my low level playthrough the scariest one by default.
Just a note, I don't think I'd consider the new londo firekeeper soul easy to grab. If I'm remembering right, you have to drain the water to get it. Anywho, great video!
You're remembering wrong. The Firekeeper Soul is right at the start of the level. As you cross the first bridge, just turn to the right and you'll see it on a small ruin with a small path connecting it to the ruins. You can grab it in 15, 20 seconds, and it's easy to get early game because you can grab it and let yourself die, so you respawn back at Firelink immediately.
For DS3, that was my first thought too. But I might go with the evangelists just because of that awful, horrible laugh they do. Shivers, mate. Gives me shivers.
IF you did a Top 10 of this, Bloodborne would own half the spots, easily. your nomination, the Winter Lanterns, those damned Brain Suckers (particularly in Upper Cathedral Ward), tons of unnerving stuff there that makes some of the worst of other games seem absolutely inoffensive.
It's the spooky season. This week, Scariest Enemies, next week, Scariest Soulsborne Moments, so stay tuned! And thank you again for 10k Subscribers! I want to do a special video to celebrate, but it'll have to wait until November!

Winter Lanterns in Bloodborne. The singing is so creepy.
Winter lanterns are scarier than all of these combined
Billy S...cary!
Scariest enemy in every Souls game... player invaders *shudders*
Scariest enemy is paying Playstation subscription prices for PS4 online :O
I think the unseen village yahargol or however you sleep it is one of the scariest parts in any souls game , and byrgenwerth enemies are terrifying the way the jump at you 🤦🏾♂️
The labyrinth sage genuinely terrifies me especially if I’m playing solo at night
There is another enemy that strikes fear into the hearts of veteran fromsoft players. . .
*Nine-ball theme starts playing*
For me the mad ones in Bloodborne are absolutely terrifying, idk why when I first saw one it triggered some hidden childhood fear. And The cemetery shade in elden ring which look almost exactly the same, but they're a corpse controlled by a DISGUSTING insect instead of their brain.
It's the craziest thing. I've played through Dark Souls and can't for the life of me remember facing the Chained Prisoner
My personal scariest enemy has got to be the sharks from bloodborne. They’re loud, horrifically ugly, massive and downright unstoppable.
Elden Ring: runebears.
I can face even sniper crabs, even fingercreepers, but these things... they scare me.
Didnt know the name of the first demons souls enemy until now. My friends call them electro bazooka octopus.
Good video
Haven't played Demon Souls unfortunately but my scariest enemies in the games I've played are
DS1 : the skeletons in all fours in tomb of the giants
DS2 : don't have anything in particular but if i had to choose i would say those boogeymen in no man's warf that are afraid of light
DS3 : the baby faced things in Irithyl dungeon ( the giant hands and those bug like women are close second and third very closo)
Bloodborne: the shark giants
Sekiro: definitely the headless ( he does not go for the spine 😅 in Japanese tales and folklore it is said that your soul is in your... Well.... Anus... So the headless is basically fisting you to take your soul okay enough)
Elden ring: revenants , there are more that terrify me but nothing can beat those things
I never really got scared by a souls game (i haven't played BB because lack of playstation), but the sewer centipedes grossed me out. I can't stand those things.
Do hot friendly npc’s from each souls game ranked from worst to best please🙏
I agree with your list, my first was dark souls and I was playing It blind and when I reach the New Lando ruins in finding the ghost that you cannot harm with normal weapons scared the crap out of me and I still remember the jump scare of the skeleton dog as the hug face was revealed from the darkness and to boot the enemy that dropped the lantern fell so hand no latern😑
Those giant things with teeth in their head from Lost Izalith in DS1. The ones that grab the player and throw them up into the space in their head with the teeth.
My opinion
DeS: Mindflayers
DS1: Mimics
DS2: Darkdwellers
Bloodborne: tie between Loran Silverbeast, Giant Sharkmen and Nightmare of Mensis pigs
DS3: Sewer Centipede
Sekiro: Great Colored Carp
ER: Fingercreepers
The mimics from dark souls 2 specifically have left me with a form of chest related PTSD 😂🤣😂🤣
"That moment when you're completely helpless and see this horrific creature coming towards you..."
(Euphoric moan sound effect)
I dare detect some subtext in that one.
My pick for DS2 would be the Undead Aberration, you only see it once and very possibly not at all in NG as it's up in one of the cages in Aldia's Keep, then in NG+ there's two of them added into the water on the way to the Lost Sinner.
Revolting to look at, fairly tanky, due to the afore-mentioned singular NG appearance a moveset you won't have much idea of, and unlike the Flexile Sentry in the same place the area where you get off the lift isn't safe from them.
how do you feel about the creepy spider-like things with hair in the profaned capital and irithyl
I used to really hate them, and I still think they're quite creepy, but they don't scare me anymore.
@@BillySYT same :$
Congrats on hitting 10k susb 🎉
Elden Ring's scariest enemy for me (someone with a massive fear of bugs) is far and away the God damn Ants. Doesn't help that I did Ranni's quest on my playthrough so I had to see them a lot more than I would have otherwise. I hate the way they look, the way they move, the noises they make, everything about them. FUCK bugs bro
The ants on my first playthrough were straight up disgusting. Easily my third choice if I had one.
Lol the mimics. I literally hit every single chest in every video game I play just in case.
Hate finger creepers, but I have to give a shoutout to the one in shunning grounds that paralyzed dung eater for me. Lifesaver
In bloodbonre When the huntsmen head exploded into a snake I nearly shit myself
Fingercreepers. I hate them. Once I stepped into Caria Manor and got jumpscared on more than one occassion, I wanted to nuke the area out of existence. Same for a portion of Mountaintops. They were also obnoxious to fight if you didn't know to light em on fire.
I already hated the Monstrosity of Sin, and now they brought them back but even faster. Just watching them move makes my skin crawl.
it didn't occur to me until quite recently but I think the Monstrosity of Sin enemies in DS3 are meant to reference Manus, their heads greatly resemble his hand that grabs you and pulls you in to Oolacile
I think my DS3 pick has to go to the Pus of Man, they make me panic so much
It's funny the fingercreepers looks like their giving you the finger before they attack you😂
The scariest elden ring enemy for me are those crawlimg albinurics in volcano manor, the sound of them crawling after me is so unsettling
Starting my list before I get to each part in the video and seeing how it matches up -
Demon's Souls: The Mindflayers.
And other semi-meme answer, if we count them, then the Bloody Crow of Cainhurst, because I've said before how they always kick my ass, they should be the one ending the hunt, not me 😭
Elden Ring: Obviously the royal revenants. I think a respectable runner-up goes to the Kindred of Rot though, those centipede guys are awful and their magic consistently tore through me at every stage of the game.
Now let's see -
The ghosts are a good shout. That's definitely a huge "wtf" moment for a new player who's gone in blind, and one of the main reasons I default to going for the cursed greatsword most of the time.
I've been called out for not doing the chalice dungeons, oh no 😭
The monstrosities of sin are definitely a good shout too, and now that I think about it they're probably an inspiring force behind the hand spiders in Elden Ring too.
The crayfish are iconic, they can punch me any day, but I'll 100% give you that the runebear is terrifying your first time through.
fun fact the headless grab attack is actually them ripping your soul out of your ass :3
recently discovered your channel nice vids!
You just don't expect that at all after meeting Beasts and Werewolves 🤘🤘😅
fuck it, we going for 20k before 2023
2024, you mean lol
@@BillySYT 20k so fast we go back in time
I absolutely hate the basilisk. Not just because of how annoying they are, but how creepy they look and sound
The scariest in my opinion are the jailer from dark souls 3 the scariest part was when it looked like they were trying to corner me
I haven’t 0:55, I haven’t faced any scary enemies in the comments bellow! Your community seems pretty lovely
The scariest enemies for me
DS1 - Chaos Eater / Frog Ray 😖
HM - Parasitic Wall Hugger
DS2 - Mimics 😰
HM - Giant Ant Queen
Bloodborne - Winter Lantern 🥶
HM - Slime Scholars
DS3 - Deep Accursed 😱
HM - Sewer Centipede
Elden Ring - Royal Revenants 😵
HM - Shield-Headed Ant
Never played Demon Souls and Sekiro.
@@BillySYT fuck yeah I'll remember that next playthrough. Keep the ranking videos coming! Love listening to them on my long work drives.
Ds3 are those big ass spider monster, one was infront of aldrich arena
For DS3, that was my first thought too. But I might go with the evangelists just because of that awful, horrible laugh they do. Shivers, mate. Gives me shivers.
For me in Elden Ring the Iron Maidens are scary as hell
IF you did a Top 10 of this, Bloodborne would own half the spots, easily. your nomination, the Winter Lanterns, those damned Brain Suckers (particularly in Upper Cathedral Ward), tons of unnerving stuff there that makes some of the worst of other games seem absolutely inoffensive.
