Fun video, also about what you said about Nioh, yeah you’re not meant to invest everything into health because all the stats raise health and your weapons scale of different stats, so you might have made the game harder for yourself by having less damage than you should, plus you need to constantly replace your gear
I honestly think DS3 deserves A, it’s the perfect ending to a market-altering trilogy, and overall has the most amount of my favorite fights in the genre. Otherwise, banger tierlist and I agree with pretty much everything else.
I haven’t played DS3 but I was surprised to see it get B. It’s an original Souls game and one that’s very well-liked by the community, so it’s surprising to see it go in B-tier when it’s a list of Soulslikes. Idk though; again, I haven’t played it. From what I hear, the bosses are incredible but maybe the area design is lacking? Edit: Also it feels like he really wanted to put it in A the whole video but just didn’t lol. When he put Nioh 2 in A then quickly said “wait no it’s not better than DS3” I was just thinking “man just bump DS3 up to A so you can add more games in A-tier without feeling bad”.
@@komboguymagyar1640 I found it to be a ton of fun, but I just didn’t have a need to finish it because it didn’t grab me from a narrative perspective. Agreed I preferred it to dark souls 3 I hated that game but in retrospect I only "like" Dark souls until izaleth, hated 2 & 3 despite completing them but it might be I was sunbroing so me and my friends had to do everything 3 times and fucking MIDIR 2days in real life banging our heads against that wall

@@fabioviti7384EHHHHHH don't know about that bruv Nioh 2 is both built as a soulslike and diablolike and so the post game content is far better than any soulsbourne game. Also there is a difficulty spike - there are several whether it is in different game cycles, dlc or the literal 3rd mission of the game. Also "has a lot of crap" can easily apply to several games in the list including the s tier elden ring
I wonder how much of Hollow Knight have you played? Because I felt kinda 'meh' about it too at the beginning, and now it's one of my favourite games of all time
Same I didn't have a lot of interest in the game until my first fight with the mantis lords, which kicked my ass and led me on a long journeying killing many bosses just to upgrade my nail to rechallange them, I literally couldn't put the game down after. But the start definitely felt slow.
Nioh 1 & 2 are my favorites. The DEPTH those games have is amazing because if you can kinda comprehend it the game becomes 10 times easier. Magic and shinobi builds are straight up op
Dark souls 3 should be S tier no doubt about it, some of the best bosses in the series and amazing weapons and levels, and some of the best DLC's of the series with probbly the BEST ending to the souls franchise, not to mention also the amazing ost, 100% a masterpiece
Mine for ones I have played: S: Hollow knight, Sekiro, Bloodborne, Elden Ring A: DS3, DS1 B:Nioh2, DS2, Salt and sanctuary C: Nioh1, Remnant (with friends) D: Fallen order, Lords of the Fallen
Some notable games worth adding here (and playing): Darksiders 3, Thymesia, Steelrising, Stranger of Paradise and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. And some more obscure ones: Asterigos: Curse of the Stars, Chronos: Before the Ashes, Pascal's Wager, Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King, Necropolis, Arboria and The Last Hero of Nostalgaia.
@@dennisdavidov782 even that I’d say has elements but isn’t really a soulslike exactly. Soulslikes we’re more about the flow of combat and the awe-inspiring bosses. JFO has a lot more puzzle systems and platforming emphasis with only a couple of bosses worthy of that title. Is soulslike games you feel the influence of the boss at the end of it throughout the level and the boss feels like a culmination of what you’ve been working towards(at least if it’s done right). Neither of those really feel like that. Darksiders feels more akin to old school god of war or devil may cry or bayonetta
@@dennisdavidov782 I’m playing JFO now and I really enjoy it but apart from one or two aspects it does not feel like a soulslike at all. It just isn’t one. Also you mentioned Shattered: The forgotten king, have you played that? It’s on my switch wishlist but i’m not too sure on it.
@@adinnusaurus9266 It's a souls-like. Ruined kingdom, losing souls mechanic, one bonfire per level, dark colors, melancholic OST, high difficulty, big and varied boss roster, etc. The only thing that Hollow Knight lacks is the RPG element of Dark Souls. But I think it's for the better, since it's easier to balance a game without any build variety (and it shows).
@@Arfadozi think you’re throwing anything that is a famous trope in games a “soulslike” tag Ruined kingdom, melancholic ost, high difficulty and varied roster of bosses are NOT soulslike original things
After 200 hours with Hollow Knight i can easily say that HK is the best metroidvania ever made, but if we're talking about souls games ofc its not even near to from software games. But imo you should finish the game at least once.
@@akreates8100 yes, but he almost put it at C and he also said that it just feelt like a 2D game and nothing special, I'm not mad at the placing, it's just that Hollow Knight is so much more than "just a 2D game" and giving it a another try might might make people relize why Hollow Knight is so beloved
Nioh 2 is by far the best of the souls like genre IN MY OPINION. The combat is bar none the most complex and has the most depth, especially if you learn the advanced techniques like animation cancels, combo extenders, weapon switchin and comboing with the spirits etc. The NG+'s and DLCs open the game up 10 fold by having bosses have new attacks, new tier of loot and new loot overall, harder mobs, missions, new missions. It deserves an A tier minimum.
@@amirphoenix2327 lol you may get 1 shot by a couple of bosses, if you get hit in the BACK its considered a crit hit and if a boss gives your a backshot and you have a low HP build you more than likely will die lol
I'd put Nioh 2 on S tier! If you still get one shot after 70 hours you're doing something wrong! Here's something important about the game! Your whole first playthrough is a Tutorial! The beauty of that game is how to put a build together, stats, rolls, graces .... Give it a second try and focus build crafting
I’ve played all the way through the depths and I would say ignore all builds until you get to say ng+++. Whatever you find that’s better than what you’re using swap immediately. There’s no point worrying about gear until the end game. For NG, just keep swapping your gear for whatever you find. You shouldn’t get one shot at all.
I love Nioh 2, played it more than 150 hours but i dont think its S, the level design is not always good, only in the last third it gets good, also the bosses are a hit or a miss, some are really good but a lot of them are just forgettable and easy, imo. The combat is amazing though.
I have played all three but I prefer Elden ring more due to the amount of build variety and because the bosses in base BB kinda lackluster (sekiro is more of the matter of opinion)
That's a normal take, but hollow Knight ranking in b tier, now, that's a crime that deserves several years behind bars, i wouldn't count It as a soulslike, but is still the single Game that i think is a perfect 10/10
@@jajasking9652 I think dark souls 3 is also perfect, bloodborne is a flawed game that gets overshadowed by people circlejerking it’s atmosphere. Yes farron keep is mid and bosses like ancient wyvern exist, however they don’t really degrade the overall experience of the game the same way that bosses like living failures and rhom do, due to how absolutely bloated and annoying those fights are. Plus living failures is just a reskinned boss IN A DLC. At the very minimum halflight is a unique boss that deserves a place in the dlc because he’s unlike any other boss in the game.
@@Sephirothkingdom782 to be honest, while i'm not totally agree with your comentary, i can totally respect It and i see where you are coming from, i prefer bloodborne because combat is amazing, while still having those RPG such a level Up and weapon variety and the old hunters DLC is amazing, without It, bloodborne would rank below ds3 for me Ds3 has one problem for me: a lot of areas are pretty meh, plus the Game is a little bit too easy once you replay It for like the third time Edit: reading better your comentary, i want to point out some stuff How living failures is a resking of a bossfight ? If anything, the reesking is Lawrence, and even then, the second phase is still original soo is not a 100% reesking bossfight ROM is also not anoying, although the little spiders deals much more damage than they should, but both bossfight doesn't damage my overall bloodborne experience I would say that two bloodborne bossfight that does hurt my bloodborne experience is the last reborn and the witches of hemwich, one of them is just a Messi with really bad moveset to engage with, plus take the maidens of is a awful time sink, while witches of hemwich is a bossfight that tries to sink as much time of your Life as posible, becuase, unless you get hit by the grab proyectile, you Will never die Another thing that is really anoying in bloodborne is the lanters teleports, as well as Frontier nightmare being a really bad area overall In ds3, i would say that ancient wyvern and, specially, most of the areas before irythill hurts the experience of the Game, is true that besides that, the rest is perfection, but the first half ( without counting DLCs ) of the Game is pretty lame, but is over rather fast so that's good
Haha, when i read ''My controversial Tier List'', the last thing i expected was to completely agree with your list. Small things here and there aside, Elden Ring, Bloodborne and Sekiro are S-tier games for me, the lore, the music, the combat, the worlds...if i could pick 3 games to replay forever, these 3 would be it.
@@legobatmanthevideogame3194 Renalla, Radahn, Rykard, Fire Giant, Placidusax, Malenia, Maliketh & Radagon/Elden Beast are the only unique bosses in the entire game. Every other boss is reused.
@@wbuzash You can play the game, beat 60 different bosses and not play a duplicate once. It's a huge game and all of those bosses are optional. On the other hand, if you enjoyed playing a particular boss, you could fight it twice. It's all up to you. If all 165 bosses were mandatory i could understand the criticism, but if you play every boss type only once, you still have more original bosses than their last 3 games combined.
tbh i put nioh 2 on S tier, rather than follow souls combat formula, that game really tried to be different than souls and it's succes, not to mention their loot system is quite unique and fun compared to souls and moreover that game has something that souls don't have, like : - good replayability, - more diverse build - different challenges depends on what NG+ - refashion feature - kinda bias here, but graphical wise i like nioh 2 character more, the "eyecandy" aesthethic doesn't make it too weird while you using some anime mod
In terms of combat system, Nioh 2 is great! It takes a bit of time to comprehend how everything worls but once you got it, it has a lot of depths in it.
Dark Souls 2 doesnt deserve a Remaster (upgrade graphics), *IT DESERVES A REMAKE THAT FIXES ITS FLAWS AND IMPROVE IT'S MECHANICS* even if it mean redesigning parts of gameplay. Frigid Outskirts should be the same frozen hell we remember feared and hated.
And the main guy who designed it based the entire thing around his fight with heart disease and the struggle of going through that. Super cool game highly recommend
I'm surprised hyper light drifter was included. I never saw it as a soulslike, but I guess I can understand putting it in this tierlist. Definitely one of my favorite indie games, I highly recommend it if you haven't played it
same goes for hollow knight, the only remotely "souls-like" thing about it is the way it tells its story, but it's a metroidvania (though not a traditional one)
@@rajkanishu Many games aren't soulslike. Honestly soulslike is the dumbest unofficial genre ever. Literally every game that shares one aspect with Dark Souls automatically gets thrown into it, with no regard for other genres like metroidvania, action-rpgs and hack' n slay.
Played through recently. I would argue in terms of indies in that Tunic and Deaths Door fit the mold better in terms of being a souls like, but highly recommend all three
@@ey1615I think your missing the point of the genre. And there are such things as sub genres and hybrid genres, all a game needs to be a soulslike are the equivalents of both souls and bonfires, as long as you drop the souls when you die, get one chance to retrieve those souls, respawn at last bonfire you visited and use the souls at bonfires to level up and obtain attribute points to increase your attributes in order to use stronger weapons and armor then it's a true soulslike, but even if a game has some of these elements I would still consider them as soulslites. And there are such things as hybrid genres like soulsvanias which are soulslike metroidvanias like hollow knight, grime, afterimage, deaths gambit afterlife and the salt series, we live in an age of evolution in the gaming industry where genres and sub genres are merging and crossing over, we live in an age where categorizing games and putting labels on games and putting them in small boxes is counter productive, don't gate keep whole genres, it hampers evolution and stiffles creativity, when you gate keep a genre and put them in a small box then the genre doesn't evolve or move forward and the genre would just die out due to a lack of creativity. Have an open mind and don't be a one trick poney, if developers were like you gaming would have died years ago
@@mathewhosier9739youre saying that devs constantly did this but thats a blatant lie. Soulslike is just a derivitive of roguelike which is already one of the shittiest namings for a genre. If other games did this, then 3d platformers would be mario likes, fps games would be doomlikes etc. Its an ARPG.
For me, Sekiro would be #1 followed by DS3, then ER. Still haven't played Bloodborne yet. Also, I love the irony in your "outro". What I mean is that you saying "I'm not doing an outro" every video is the outro 😆
This is my top 5: 1. Sekiro 2. Nioh 2 3. Nioh 4. Dark souls 3 5. Elden Ring (still haven't finished though) Sekiro is just a masterpiece, amazing and unique combat, great story and great music. All round the best game I ever played in my life. Nioh is criminally underrated. It has far superior combat than the likes of Dark Souls and Elden Ring kind of games. I believe if they invested in theme and music more to create more epic atmosphere, it would take it to the next level with regular fans. Never played Bloodborne though. Elden Ring could be better than Dark Souls when I finish it because I just started to play it, but I don't think it can surpass either Nioh for me.
If you were getting one-shot constantly in Nioh 2 even with large investment into health then your armor was likely the problem. Most likely your mistake was running around in super light armor, which is a common mistake many dark souls players make when coming over to it. Try putting on heavier armor and see how that feels. Yellow agility is still perfectly fine imo.
Ashen is a beautiful game, and has a really cool take on a hub, but I didn't love the combat and I definitely got "That's it?" feelings when it was over.
I love Nioh 1 and 2, The damage you take is really high but the game gives you the tools to make cheap builds that allow you to fight fire with fire. I did a tonfa/ninjitsu build in 2 and was killing a lot of stuff before they could get close enough to hit me, If they got near the tonfas where amazing to use I love that moveset.
My Tier personal tier list for those who care to read this: Sekiro - Sure its different from the rest combat wise and will most definitely throw you off your game if you've just started playing it from Dark Souls, but once the combat clicks, the gameplay and entire experience just trumps every other Souls game. - Easy S tier Nioh 1 & 2 - barely played the first one so I really cant say much about it, but Nioh 2 is absolutely a masterpiece to me, it's the same deal with Sekiro, it has a huge learning curve but once the combat and mechanics click with you and once you know what you're doing, the experience becomes so much more satisfying. - S tier Bloodborne - My first Souls game and objectively a great game, but playing it in recent years has made it lose some of the magic it once had for me before, im not sure if its the 1 dimensional Lovecraftian aesthetic and all areas ending up looking the same or just the 30fps locked performance (or it being locked to Playstation) but Bloodborne just isn't as fun to me anymore. - B tier Dark Souls 2 - underrated and over hated, yes, its the black sheep of the 3 but the amount of interesting ideas DS2 added and mechanics it did try to implement were an absolute blast to experience (except soul memory and adaptability, screw that.) but things like having new item and enemy placements in NG+ cycles was a great idea that should've been carried over to the other games. The variety and amount of weapons is great too, there's only maybe a handful of weapons that had the exact same moveset, everything else was entirely unique in its own special way, like previously stated in the video, if DS2 got a full on remaster (not the kind that DS1 got) then it would absolutely slap and im sure more people would actually care to try the game out instead of calling it garbage and avoiding it like the plague. - A tier Dark Souls 3 - Bosses are amazing, but i hate that every area has nearly the same washed out color scheme, and weapon variety is garbage, each weapon class only had maybe one or two weapons that actually had a somewhat unique moveset, it was disappointing, the linearity of the game also killed some of the fun i had with it on subsequent playthroughs. - A tier just for the bosses Hollow Knight - for a souls like its good, but as a metroidvania, its phenomenal, plenty of great rewards for exploration and amazing boss fights and post game content. - S tier Dark Souls 1 - the game that skyrocketed in popularity, while Dark Souls 1 most definitely had its issues and a pretty disappointing remaster, its still an absolutely amazing experience and one of the best in the entire souls-like genre. - S tier Salt and Sanctuary - Plenty of fun, great customizability and a super fun world to explore, great metroidvania, absolutely recommend playing it. - A tier Code Vein - Its good, but incredibly hard if you decide to go through the story without an AI partner (but still a good challenge) some of the area design is kind of bland though, and it's fairly linear which can definitely water down the experience a bit, aside from that, character customization and building is great, the combat system is also a ton of fun if you like souls-like with a dash of combo-like abilities like something from Bayonetta or Devil May Cry. - B tier Blasphemous - I haven't beaten it, but man is that game crazy hard, for a souls like I think its passable, but the lack of I-frames and having to instead rely on the tight parry window to nullify some attacks can make the difficulty feel a little artificial at times. For a metroidvania game though, its not as great, movement abilities are very barebones, exploring areas barely yields any sort of reward that made the time exploring feel worthwhile, good souls like, not so good metroidvania. - C tier now finally, Elden Ring - The combat is definitely a step up in quality and the overall feel of the game is great, but the bosses in terms of the actual fight and gameplay are complete garbage in my opinion, they don't feel like they were created in mind to be a fun fight for every build unlike DS3, and having some of the bosses designed around having spirit ashes take aggro also just made it feel a whole lot less fun, that and the overall world is just way too large, the first playthrough is an absolute masterpiece of an experience, but every subsequent playthrough just makes you realize how much pointless space is in the world and makes those areas feel less special once you realize how meaningless it can be. - B tier As for the rest, i haven't played them so i wont be ranking them.
Hey ember, not sure if you remember me from awhile back but I was the guy who asked you for tips about the abyss watchers. I just want to say thank for that and now that I’ve beaten every boss including both dlc. It’s made me want to go back and play more souls games. So that was what started me with ds1 with a mage build. Thank you again.
Hellpoint is so slept on. I put so many hours into that game. Made so many builds. Yeah it's got some jank, some unbalanced mechanics, pre-alpha vibes here and there, but it definitely adds some charm. For only a dozen developers that made it, it's a great souls-like
@tesselesk8 True, and True. Definitely my first time playing it was a whole lot of wtf am I going lol. Not to mention the lack of content to search for it. After I got familiar with the layout the replayability got alot higher for myself.
For me, Nioh 2 is a goated game. It punishes you for going too aggressive and not utilizing your parties. It had lots of unique weapon styles that is really 3 weapons in one with stances. It's fast pace and fun.
People forget that FUN is the name of the game….. take out everything and just judge based on how much fun you have playing the game and you realize that Nioh 2 combat system is SO FAR AND BEYOND the best of any of the games listed here. Compare it to Elden ring…… in Elden Ring you are quite literally doing the same thing over and over again every single fight. People program themselves to not think much of it as they press the same two buttons off of muscle memory and call it “fun” 😭
If you do master Flux and linking your combos with Yokai abilities, and knowing your combos and your items, you can play aggressively too. I basically only used the Shiftling parry at that, barely touched weapon parrying. I pretty much consider it closer to a Devil May Cry game, with the stamina sort of acting as a forceful mentor to make you understand how to play the game in an efficient manner, those Yokai abilities really let the stamina bar shine whereas the simpler system of one didn't, it was just hitting them again, backing off, or using an item, least in my opinion.
@@jamesonedwardsii4943 Yeah the combat is really amazing but its not just about combat, level design and enemy design are a thing and i think in those two areas Nioh 2 is lacking.
@@jackjager8790 right so pressing the same two buttons is fun to you? If so we have a difference in opinion…. Nioh was far more fun then doing the same attacks rinse repeat.
People play souls games for the experience and the world, not really the combat. If you look at the best dark souls players in the world, they're only masters at timing their rolls. There's no comboes like nioh, no real weaknesses to exploit, no crazy methods of killing something. You can just roll around while attacking a boss for 2 hours with a stick and people praise you for it. I love DS1, (Fuck ds2), DS3, and Elden Ring but they're all just about rolling
Truly underrated in this tier list Id rate then both S tier. Dark souls 1 defining a genre, creating a beautiful open world and masterfully telling a deep story. And dark souls 3 perfecting boss fights and finishing the story created so many years ago in a way that lived up to the first.
A real Masterpiece that Bed of Chaos. And I loved how they copied and pasted Taurus and Capra Demons throughout the Demon Ruins. Reskinned Stray Demon was just chef's kiss. Demon Centipede was honestly one of my favorite bosses in the entire genre. I also thought it was really great how they had a lot of undead Dragon Butts in the bright lava of Lost Izalith.
Nioh 1 and 2 are my favorite souls like games. The fact that I got to play the entire campaign of Nioh 2 with my friend who hates souls like game puts it up there for me. I loved DS3 but nioh are higher in my tier list.
Death's Gambit (right before Demon's Souls) is actually a super fun soulslike with a more meta take on the storytelling. I'd reccomend you check it out!
Hyper Light Drifter is also one of favorite games of all time. It's a bit similar to old Zelda titles, so maybe check it out if that sounds interesting.
Hollow knight is objectively a masterpiece, fair enough if you didn't get on with it because it is a 2d game but if you get on with 2d games it really is the closest thing to dark souls in the 2d format
I would put Remnant from the Ashes into S tier. This game is one of a kind. Its basically a Dark Souls with guns, rocket launchers and beam rifles. You still can't find anything like that on the market.
Jedi Fallen Order in D tier because it has puzzles? And Hollow Knight in B tier because it's "Just 2D" I can't tell if this man is being ironic or not but I sincerely hope that he is because these are some genuine dogwater takes
For me, Fromsoftware is one of few developers in the industry that can take their work beyond being just a game. Bloodborne and Sekiro are pieces of art for me that I will never forget for it's settings and emotions it made me feel. That said, Nioh 2 is my favorite game in traditional sense of video games. It has the richest and most entertaining gameplay I have ever experienced. Even though I don't have much time to play games lately, Nioh 2 always welcomes me back.
You were right, Nioh 2 is A tier. I’d argue so is DS3 also but when you get into the underworld of Nioh 2 that is when the game really opens up. It’s also a gear dependent game and you need to look at ALL the bonuses on armor sets (personally I’d say just get full warrior of the East set) and then later on you get different graces which add more passives. The game is super in depth and deep. I do think it was better than the first Nioh.
I was very surprised by Surge 2. One of my favorite souls likes for sure. I hope they make a 3rd game and make it a bit longer. That's my only con with Surge 2 is the length
agreed, I also loved Surge 2. Did you think it was too short or too long? It tooks me 33hrs to beat the game with DLC, which I'd say is pretty much a perfect length, maybe a little bit too long, since I didn't really get stuck anywhere, so it was all progress
Sadly they disappointed a lot with Wo Long. Expected the same combat depth as Nioh, but Wo Long has watered down combat without any strategy attached to it. But hey, at least Omega Force delivered awesome combat with Wild Hearts
@M. H. Wow. You hit the nail right on the head. I was coming to reply exactly what you said. I loved Nioh, and Nioh 2 is one of my all-time favorite games. Of course, I was excited to get my hands on Wo Long, but it's been a disappointment. What's frustrating is reading opinion pieces from large publications claiming Wo Long is better than what should have been expected from a Nioh 3. I hope Team Ninja has something better in development.
I actually prefer Hollow Knight over DS1, DS2 and DeS. It's so fucking good and the amount of content for $15 is crazy. First playthrough was roughly 70 hours iirc, without a guide, and that's not even counting doing everything in Godhome. Completing all the pantheons can take a loong time, not to mention all bosses on radiant.
Mortal Shell really nailed it when It came to Souls-Like games that are not far from Soulsborne games without imitating the exact formula. It’s a great game; and the difficulty makes it even better!
I don't think you can really go back and play Nioh 1, after Nioh 2 -but just letting you know Nioh 2 is quite a bit more polished so they are not really same tier. Other than that I agree pretty much, personally not a fan of Mortal Shell, but everyone else I know praises it a lot, so might be me being the issue. Hollow Knight as many others probably will say, you should give it a shot (more)?
Nioh 2 should have been there if Elden ring and it’s rinse repeat zombie mindless combat system is there. Elden ring deserves to be there but if we are talking fun….. the only thing that made that game fun was the open world. I can only speak for myself but when I realize I’m pressing the same two buttons an entire game it makes me think how good is this game really?
I haven't seen such an overrated game as Elden Ring for many years. Only Bloodborne was kind of fan food, but at least it was original. Elden Ring is another Dark Souls (3.5) only with shittier quality, poor PvP/PvE balance, shitty and sometimes unfair boss design. And yes, you don't need to write jokes to me, like to get better. Lol. I went through this shit on RL1 and I dream of forgetting this circus of freaks as a terrible dream.
Code vein should be A. Whoever was in charge of the difficulty for ER should be fired, souls games are only hard for a few hours n then theyre easy, but ER is just the hardest souls game for the sake of being the hardest n it couldnt be worse because of it
Thank you for watching! This was something a little different I wanted to make for fun so I hope you enjoyed! Subscribe for more :)

Absolutely! The combat of the Nioh series as a whole, and especially Nioh 2, kinda blows all the other games on the list out of the water.
@@fabioviti7384EHHHHHH don't know about that bruv
Nioh 2 is both built as a soulslike and diablolike and so the post game content is far better than any soulsbourne game. Also there is a difficulty spike - there are several whether it is in different game cycles, dlc or the literal 3rd mission of the game.
Also "has a lot of crap" can easily apply to several games in the list including the s tier elden ring

Yes the worst part of hollow knight is definitely the start of the game
Yeah i changed my view of the game in City of Tears.

City of Tears is when the game becomes magical
Nioh 1 & 2 are my favorites. The DEPTH those games have is amazing because if you can kinda comprehend it the game becomes 10 times easier. Magic and shinobi builds are straight up op
Dark souls 3 should be S tier no doubt about it, some of the best bosses in the series and amazing weapons and levels, and some of the best DLC's of the series with probbly the BEST ending to the souls franchise, not to mention also the amazing ost, 100% a masterpiece

Ds3 has one problem for me: a lot of areas are pretty meh, plus the Game is a little bit too easy once you replay It for like the third time
Edit: reading better your comentary, i want to point out some stuff
How living failures is a resking of a bossfight ? If anything, the reesking is Lawrence, and even then, the second phase is still original soo is not a 100% reesking bossfight
ROM is also not anoying, although the little spiders deals much more damage than they should, but both bossfight doesn't damage my overall bloodborne experience
I would say that two bloodborne bossfight that does hurt my bloodborne experience is the last reborn and the witches of hemwich, one of them is just a Messi with really bad moveset to engage with, plus take the maidens of is a awful time sink, while witches of hemwich is a bossfight that tries to sink as much time of your Life as posible, becuase, unless you get hit by the grab proyectile, you Will never die
Another thing that is really anoying in bloodborne is the lanters teleports, as well as Frontier nightmare being a really bad area overall
In ds3, i would say that ancient wyvern and, specially, most of the areas before irythill hurts the experience of the Game, is true that besides that, the rest is perfection, but the first half ( without counting DLCs ) of the Game is pretty lame, but is over rather fast so that's good

My Tier personal tier list for those who care to read this:
Sekiro - Sure its different from the rest combat wise and will most definitely throw you off your game if you've just started playing it from Dark Souls, but once the combat clicks, the gameplay and entire experience just trumps every other Souls game. - Easy S tier
Nioh 1 & 2 - barely played the first one so I really cant say much about it, but Nioh 2 is absolutely a masterpiece to me, it's the same deal with Sekiro, it has a huge learning curve but once the combat and mechanics click with you and once you know what you're doing, the experience becomes so much more satisfying. - S tier
Bloodborne - My first Souls game and objectively a great game, but playing it in recent years has made it lose some of the magic it once had for me before, im not sure if its the 1 dimensional Lovecraftian aesthetic and all areas ending up looking the same or just the 30fps locked performance (or it being locked to Playstation) but Bloodborne just isn't as fun to me anymore. - B tier
Dark Souls 2 - underrated and over hated, yes, its the black sheep of the 3 but the amount of interesting ideas DS2 added and mechanics it did try to implement were an absolute blast to experience (except soul memory and adaptability, screw that.) but things like having new item and enemy placements in NG+ cycles was a great idea that should've been carried over to the other games. - A tier
Dark Souls 3 - Bosses are amazing, but i hate that every area has nearly the same washed out color scheme, and weapon variety is garbage, each weapon class only had maybe one or two weapons that actually had a somewhat unique moveset, it was disappointing, the linearity of the game also killed some of the fun i had with it on subsequent playthroughs. - A tier just for the bosses
Hollow Knight - for a souls like its good, but as a metroidvania, its phenomenal, plenty of great rewards for exploration and amazing boss fights and post game content. - S tier
Dark Souls 1 - the game that skyrocketed in popularity, while Dark Souls 1 most definitely had its issues and a pretty disappointing remaster, its still an absolutely amazing experience and one of the best in the entire souls-like genre. - S tier
Salt and Sanctuary - Plenty of fun, great customizability and a super fun world to explore, great metroidvania, absolutely recommend playing it. - A tier
Code Vein - Its good, but incredibly hard if you decide to go through the story without an AI partner (but still a good challenge) some of the area design is kind of bland though, and it's fairly linear which can definitely water down the experience a bit, aside from that, character customization and building is great, the combat system is also a ton of fun if you like souls-like with a dash of combo-like abilities like something from Bayonetta or Devil May Cry. - B tier
Blasphemous - I haven't beaten it, but man is that game crazy hard, for a souls like I think its passable, but the lack of I-frames and having to instead rely on the tight parry window to nullify some attacks can make the difficulty feel a little artificial at times. For a metroidvania game though, its not as great, movement abilities are very barebones, exploring areas barely yields any sort of reward that made the time exploring feel worthwhile, good souls like, not so good metroidvania. - C tier
now finally, Elden Ring - The combat is definitely a step up in quality and the overall feel of the game is great, but the bosses in terms of the actual fight and gameplay are complete garbage in my opinion, they don't feel like they were created in mind to be a fun fight for every build unlike DS3, and having some of the bosses designed around having spirit ashes take aggro also just made it feel a whole lot less fun, that and the overall world is just way too large, the first playthrough is an absolute masterpiece of an experience, but every subsequent playthrough just makes you realize how much pointless space is in the world and makes those areas feel less special once you realize how meaningless it can be. - B tier
As for the rest, i haven't played them so i wont be ranking them.
Hey ember, not sure if you remember me from awhile back but I was the guy who asked you for tips about the abyss watchers. I just want to say thank for that and now that I’ve beaten every boss including both dlc. It’s made me want to go back and play more souls games. @tesselesk8 True, and True. Definitely my first time playing it was a whole lot of wtf am I going lol. Not to mention the lack of content to search for it. After I got familiar with the layout the replayability got alot higher for myself.
Hollow Knight not being S tier physically hurts me, its A tier at the very least and that's streching it
For me, Nioh 2 is a goated game.
Dark souls 3 and nioh 2 deserve S tier imo.
DS1 and 3 are masterpieces
Truly underrated in this tier list Id rate then both S tier. Dark souls 1 defining a genre, creating a beautiful open world and masterfully telling a deep story. And dark souls 3 perfecting boss fights and finishing the story created so many years ago in a way that lived up to the first.
A real Masterpiece that Bed of Chaos. And I loved how they copied and pasted Taurus and Capra Demons throughout the Demon Ruins. Reskinned Stray Demon was just chef's kiss. blasphemous is one the best experiences ive ever had in a game
Facts, second only to Hollow Kight in my opinion
NIoh 2 is definetily better than any game in its genre. Also its kinda weird to say that its a souls like. Nevertheless, nioh 2 is a masterpiece
“Demon’ s souls tried to imitate the formula” bro demon’ s souls IS the formula
Blade of darkness is the formula
The DS3 disrespect is crazy DS3 is an easy s tier
Nioh 1 and 2 are my favorite souls like games. The fact that I got to play the entire campaign of Nioh 2 with my friend who hates souls like game puts it up there for me. I loved DS3 but nioh are higher in my tier list.
Death's Gambit (right before Demon's Souls) is actually a super fun soulslike with a more meta take on the storytelling. I'd reccomend you check it out!
Hyper Light Drifter is also one of favorite games of all time. It's a bit similar to old Zelda titles, so maybe check it out if that sounds interesting.
Death's Gambit really suffered from being released in a very bad state, but the re-worked version (Afterlife) is excellent
Hollow knight is objectively a masterpiece, fair enough if you didn't get on with it because it is a 2d game but if you get on with 2d games it really is the closest thing to dark souls in the 2d format
Dark souls 3 is without a doubt better than dark souls 1
I would put Remnant from the Ashes into S tier.
This game is one of a kind.
Its basically a Dark Souls with guns, rocket launchers and beam rifles. You still can't find anything like that on the market.
Jedi Fallen Order in D tier because it has puzzles? And Hollow Knight in B tier because it's "Just 2D" I can't tell if this man is being ironic or not but I sincerely hope that he is because these are some genuine dogwater takes
From what I can tell Ember’s only appeal to the masses is drawing in the clickbait with Elden Ring polls
Lost me with Elden Ring, won me back with Sekiro
Hollow knight is an easy S tier for me. Besides all the souls games my favoutite game
Giving hollow knight a B is criminal
Because it's not a souls like
@@GabrielSooS yes it's not a soulslike but still it's shouldn't be in b tier
I was mostly looking forward to your rankings of the indies (salt and sanctuary, blasphemous, deaths gambit). Sad to see you didn’t do them.
there are two kinds of people, people who rate ds3 s and there are people who are wrong
The Surge 3 is unlikely to happen due to poor sales it seems. Their next game called Atlas Fallen is coming out in 2.5 months though.
i like both surge 1&2 ...
Hollow Knight in B tier is insane
Nioh 2 has by far the best souls combat. It's so deep you can put over 1k hours in it and still have fun. No one does combat better than Team Ninja.
@@HavenAndre Wo Long is more casual, like the Fromsoftware games. Of course journalists and noobs approve, but Nioh pros like us know it is different
Imagine mortal shell being same tier as Ds3
I would put Elden Ring in C and DS3 in A. I would also add Runescape and put that in A.
💀💀💀
I actually prefer Hollow Knight over DS1, DS2 and DeS. It's so fucking good and the amount of content for $15 is crazy. First playthrough was roughly 70 hours iirc, without a guide, and that's not even counting doing everything in Godhome. Completing all the pantheons can take a loong time, not to mention all bosses on radiant.
Mortal Shell really nailed it when It came to Souls-Like games that are not far from Soulsborne games without imitating the exact formula. It’s a great game; and the difficulty makes it even better!
I was 100% until I figured out how to do heavy attack into hardening and just demolish the entire game from there.
My favorite soulsgames are Bloodborne, Elden Ring and Nioh 2. I feel like those are just on a whole other league compared to the rest.
You should check of Thymesia.
Objectively, it might be low on the tier list, but it was a lot of fun with good combat and pretty short.
Dark Souls 2 in the same fucking tier as Code Bullshit Vein, I just can't believe it.
I found code vein to be really Good, too bad the dlc suck
I don't think you can really go back and play Nioh 1, after Nioh 2 -but just letting you know Nioh 2 is quite a bit more polished so they are not really same tier.
Other than that I agree pretty much, personally not a fan of Mortal Shell, but everyone else I know praises it a lot, so might be me being the issue.
Hollow Knight as many others probably will say, you should give it a shot (more)?
putting dark souls over dark souls 3 is a crime
I'd bump DS3 and Nioh 2 up to A. Your B tier looks a little full
How can Dark souls be a souls-like if it's the true souls game ?
Hyper light drifter is so good
Jedi Fallen Order is more like Tomb Raider in the Souls genre.
You hit the nail on the head with the S tier.
Bloodborne is overrated
@@couchwilly5575 no, but I can understand it's not for everyone.
@@LuM4rex YES I agree 100 %
Code vein should be A. Whoever was in charge of the difficulty for ER should be fired, souls games are only hard for a few hours n then theyre easy, but ER is just the hardest souls game for the sake of being the hardest n it couldnt be worse because of it
